Chapter One-hundred & Thirty-nine

#September's POV#

I returned back to the cottage with my hefty locks of hair held in my hands, I felt lighter and freer. I felt like a brand new person.

The cottage was waiting for me the same way I left it, sunlit and quiet, a gentle breeze blowing through the open windows, satin curtains waving.

The nostalgic feeling was long gone, now I just wanted to go back home. Home, which was the people I loved.

I didn't do much unpacking so my back was intact, sitting on the unmade bed where I left it that morning.

I place the bag on the ground, then take my time laying out the bed.

An apparition caught my eyes a couple times while I completed this task and although I knew that there was no one there, it felt like I could catch a blurry glimpse of a little girl in elegant clothes, smiling and waving at me.

I hoist my bag when I'm all done and stride out of the cottage. It was unlocked when I came last night almost like it had been expecting me.
