When born
We only know how to do one thing:
Cry
However as we get older
We evolve
At one we know how to:
Laugh
Walk
At two and three we learn to speak
At four we start school
Where we learn many new things
Reading
Writing
Math
We also learn how to use the bathroom
Or eat with silverware
Without our moms help
Thats the first sign of independence
At ages six through eleven
we learn to observe
To react to our surroundings
Where we branch off
Some down a better road
Some down the worst
As we gear towards middle school
Ages twelve and thirteen
We start to become something
Good and bad
We start to learn the sins
Lust
Greed
Envy
Sloth
Wrath
Gluttony
Pride
We learn hate
How to lie
And how to cause pain
We learn heartache
And We learn loss
We experience mental illness
Without knowing what it means
We learn stress
From watching our parents kill themselves
Just to make sure you wont
We learn new habits
Good
And bad
Drawing
Smoking
Singing
Cutting
Dancing
Stealing
All these things to help escape reality
Then we reach high school
Ages fourteen through seventeen
All Filled with hormone enhanced teens
"love that will last forever"
Grades that control our entire lives
And the making and breaking
Of many newfound relationships
Time speeds up
These four years pass us by
Four homecomings
8 plays
Twenty something credits
Tears
Laughter
Hugs from the ones you love
Weekends full of freedom
Hellos
And goodbyes
All these memories we will never forget
As we walk away from our childhood
The number eighteen is a scary number
One weve prepared for all our lives leading up to that moment
When we reach eighteen we can finally say these three words
"Weve made it"
We made it past the pain and hardships
We survived the aching thoughts
And the painful losses
Weve made it
My god weve made it
So well throw our caps in the air
And welcome the end to an era
And the beginning of the rest of our lives
