I turn the key inside the door and push it open. Silence greets me from the inside but before I step in, I turn to look at Cole James for the final time. He's stood on the other side of the road, leaning back against a road sign. His arms are crossed over his chest and his head is slightly tilted as he watches me. Underneath the glow of the street lamp, I watch his lips flicker up into a smirk. He lazily lifts one hand, waving goodbye to me. I breathe in sharply and do the same, mirroring his wave.
When I finally step inside and close the door behind me, I lean back against it and blow out a deep breath. My mind replays the entire day bunking off with Cole James. There's a smile on my face and a fire lit inside my stomach that I've never experienced before. He brings excitement to my mundane life and I've never met anyone quite as fascinating as him.
