I couldn't get the thought out of my head. 'What was he talking about?' I thought.
"Hey Tyrant," a familiar voice, Glenn said. "Oh, hi Glenn." Glenn affirmed, "Do you still wonder what he's talking about?" I looked at him. "Definitely." Glenn said, "So, I'm not the only one."
"You're definitely not. Many people are thinking the same thing."
"Well most of the time, whenever something good happens, everyone forgets," Glenn stated. "But what if this wasn't good?" I asked him.
Glenn jested, "That's what I worry about." After I was done with my laps, I took a rest. I sat on the bench, catching my breath.
Sarge came over, with his very little smile. He never smiles though—well it never looks like it. I've been with him long enough to know when he smiles.
"Alright soldiers," he said. "You are going to be having your first mission!"
Everyone gasped. Even Chief who gasped with an apple bite in his mouth. "We are heading to The Sahara Desert, we believe that's where they might strike."
Glenn and I looked at each other, nodding our heads. "So get your weapons ready. We better not waste this one." We got our gear, rifles, and I put on my helmet inside my cabin.
I took a moment to look out the window. "Dad," I said, as if he were here. "You were right, thank you." Then, I left the cabin. Trucks were loaded with supplies like ammunition. Men were highly armed and put on their helmets.
"Let's go!" men shouted. I went in the truck with Glenn, and Hunter.
Commander Waxer was there. He got taller I must say and I believe he's in his forties.
He looked around, and looked into the distance. We sat down on the hard chairs. "Hello soldiers," he said. "I remember you guys when we first found you. Look at you now."
I looked at myself. I gulped in fear. I didn't want to die, not at all. The walkie-talkie came on. "Sir, new soldiers need to be on front," the person said in the walkie talkie.
The trucks stopped. Waxer looked at us. "Well, might as well go up front," he said. And with his inspiring eyes, staring through us. "The country depends on you. Don't take it for granted."
After that, I felt much more scared than ever. I went out, my hands sweating beneath my rifle. My heart beat a thousand times faster.
Glenn and I, Humphrey, Chief, Jack, and many more were behind us. I looked forward into the bright light, sure that war was right in front of us.
