Unfair Fight

Max thrust his body forward, arriving by Alexander's side in just a second; showing great speed in the process.

Alexander didn't block the attack, he didn't think of running away from Max's attack either, he shot his palm forward as sparks appeared one after the other in quick succession and by the time his palm was about to reach Max a sudden explosion occurred, fire enveloping Max's body entirely.

Max wasn't visible anymore, seemingly torched alive by Alexander's attack while killed in an instant. This sight made each of the students shiver while some felt a level of anxiousness as well; it was only their teacher that didn't show any facial expression, his face blank while his gaze pierced through the fire.

'He didn't use any abilities on others, does he have something against Max?' Mark clenched his teeth in fear as he watched. It was a fact that Alexander didn't use any of his abilities so far; he didn't even use his breathing technique either. Everyone found it strange but Alexander knew that Max would be able to hold his own in a situation such as this.

"Don't hide in the flames, it won't surprise me in any way" Alexander commanded Max as he looked in front of him where the flames slowly dissipated into the thin air, making a figure visible to everyone.

That figure was Max who knelt on one knee while he kept his other foot forward giving support to a black shield that appeared out of nowhere.

"I wasn't planning to," The figure said as it got up, a smirk revealing on Max's face.

He summoned Matt in the last second and was able to fend off the flames but the recoil was still too much for Max who was pushed a few meters away. At the sight of the shield Alexander already knew that he sub estimated Max's abilities; feeling the need he praised him.

"It seems like that book you requested paid off, I didn't consider you integrating with that spirit weapon so soon" Alexander admitted as he pressed his palm forward, red particles gathering in the center of it.

"But even so, wasting time doesn't raise your final score!" He shouted as a ball of fire, the size of an adult fist formed in an instant, immediately shooting it toward Max.

Max absorbed the shield back into his body before dodging the fireball coming toward him with relative ease. The shield holds his mobility back which is why he retracted it while thinking that he wouldn't be able to take any of those low-tier spells anyway.

'They may be weak spells but they are used by a strong enemy'

The battle extended and reached the five-minute mark; this was a few times more than any of the other battles lasted for. Alexander was the one in lead, managing to keep Max away with several fireballs whose number kept increasing as time went on. He tried making the other use his abilities but to no avail, there didn't seem to be any intention for Max to use his elemental abilities.

Max managed to exhaust himself from all the dodging he did, the number of fireballs coming at him being a huge problem now. He didn't know how but he knew that he had to get closer otherwise he won't be able to do anything against Alexander.

He was also aware of the weakness he faced at this moment: the low number of abilities he had. The black flames was an ability he earned after Matt awakened which wasn't even his own but was able to use it because of the contract between the two, and this was his only ability as well. He didn't have any other elemental abilities that he could use for this situation.

'Shit!' Max cursed as he felt the scorching heat of the fireball as it missed him by a hair's breadth. He made up his mind in an instant, summoning his shield before rushing toward Alexander at a great speed.

"Why are you not using all of your abilities on me? You think that I won't be able to defend against them?!" Alexander felt mad as he saw Max rushing toward him, not using any of his abilities so far.

Max didn't mind Alexander's words as he already knew that there was no way for him to do so. He got close enough to his teacher who stood in place; Alexander was waiting for Max to use his abilities.

Black flames raged around Max's body, enveloping both him and Alexander in a sphere made of black flames. It was the same ability that he had used so far, the only difference being the amount of flames and control he exuded on them.

Both Max and Alexander weren't able to see anything in front of them but the former knew that the latter was in front of him so he arched his shield into the air trying to hit Alexander but all he met was air before he felt the strong ground resisting his attack.

"Is this all you can do?" Alexander asked as he stood behind Max, using his senses to detect his surroundings. Max felt a hand grab his shoulder before his face was straight implanted into the ground. He tried to get up but his body didn't allow him to, a constant and domineering pressure being applied on his left shoulder

"I-I admit defeat!" Max shouted, a burning sensation suddenly overcoming his body; making him retract the flames and showcase what was happening in the dome of black flames.

"Are this all of your abilities?" Alexander asked but his question was only responded through the instant shivering Max's body presented.

"Respond to me, you don't have to be so frustrated about it" Alexander commanded Max but the latter once again didn't respond which made Alexander worry for some reason.

"Max?!" Alexander turned Max's body around to see that the latter had the veins from his eyes popped, blood flowing from different orifices around his face.

"What?!" Alexander felt a jolt go through his heart as he saw Max in such a state, he knew only one reason that this would be suddenly happening.

'Abundant gathering' He said as he knew that different shapeshifters reacted the same after absorbing too much of their respective elements to become stronger.

"Class is over, use the help I gave you today and maybe you'll be able to cross out some of the weaknesses you currently possess" Grabbing Max from the floor, holding him in his arms like a baby, Alexander said hurriedly.

"Teacher, why are you taking Max?" It was Mark who asked, immediately feeling like something was wrong from what was happening.

"I've accidentally used too much force, there is nothing to be afraid about" Alexander then ran toward the academy building; seemingly heading toward the infirmary.

'What is happening?!' He asked himself over and over, he couldn't find a reason for this happening.
