I followed Herobrine all the way to a large room with no doors and looked inside. Everything was still Nether themed, but weapons lined the walls and a mat marked the center of the square room where it looked like people would spar. Armor stands with armor on stood around the four pillars that were by each corner of the mat.
"This is the training room." Herobrine said plainly. I looked around at it not sure what to think. I had a feeling I would spend a lot of time in that room.
"Huh!" Was all I said.
"Students!!" Herobrine suddenly yelled into the room. In just a few moments three teens just a few years older than myself ran into the room through another door that was smaller than the one I had just stepped through. They quickly lined up and stood tall and straight in front of Herobrine.
They all looked like normal kids. One girl and two guys. The girl had dark purple hair and her entire outfit was black from head to toe. She even had a hood that rested on her shoulders, not on her head currently. The boy to her left looked slightly younger than the girl and had light blond hair and a green hoodie with black pants. And the boy to the girl's right looked slightly older than her. His hair was long and midnight black. His outfit was mostly grey and brown, kinda bland. Just like his personality. The thing that separated them from the other kids though we're their, glowing, white, eyes..
"Wha!" I gasped at the sight of their eyes. I thought that was only a Herobrine thing.
"Students. Meet Hazel.. Hazel. Meet Audrey, Daniel, and Bruce." Herobrine said, gesturing to the three kids. The girl was Audrey. The guy with blond hair was Daniel. And the bland guy was Bruce. The name kinda fit his looks too. He looked tougher than the other two did.
"Nice to meet you." Audrey said, though her face said: "I want to kill you." I hesitantly shook her hand and she squeezed mine, hard. I am still wondering how she did that, we don't even have fingers! Daniel seemed to be the nice one in the group as he shook my hand politely and Bruce just grunted in acknowledgment that I was there.
"You guys know what to do. Remember to train without using your powers though, Hazel has just started her training." Herobrine told the three before teleporting away. All three of the kids then looked from the cloud of fading purple particles to me.
"Soooo.... what do we do first?" I asked, suddenly feeling even more awkward than before.
"Who do you think you are!?" Audrey shouted, her smile dropping into a scowl.
"Excuse me?" I asked her all confused.
"Don't worry about Audrey Hazel, she was like that with me when I first joined." Daniel said with the intent to comfort me, but his glowing eyes didn't help much.
"No this is serious!!" Audrey shouted even louder. "I don't take kindly to, Lamos!" She said as if the word was supposed to mean something more than just a lame person.
"Oh come on, Audrey! She probably just feels awkward with glowing eyes around other people and is used to keeping them like the Lamos do." Daniel said. "It's alright Hazel, we won't make fun of you.." All three of them then looked at me as if they were expecting me to do something. I just stood there awkwardly.
"I knew it!!" Audrey shouted again. "Herobrine brought in a Lamo! I can't believe him! And she doesn't even look like a good fighter! Even if I was threatened by Herobrine himself, I wouldn't team up with her any day!" Audrey then flipped her hood over her head and stomped to the other side of the room and sat on some stairs that together looked like a couch.
"Don't mind her. She doesn't like Lamos." Daniel said comfortingly.
"Lamos?" I decided to ask. I could hear Audrey huff loudly at my question as she tried to ignore me.
"They're people, without glowing eyes.. Audrey started calling them that because she thinks they're lame." Bruce answered, which kind of surprised me.
"Well, Herobrine wants me to train. Soooo..." I decided to be the one to change the topic.
"Sure! Over here. Let's practice defending yourself first. We can work on offensive moves tomorrow." Daniel said as he strutted over to the mat. He was probably glad that he was the one teaching now. It seems like before I showed up, he was the runt of the litter. Now I felt like the odd one out since now I was the only one there without glowing white eyes.
Training started and it was mainly just me and Daniel. Bruce helped with things like practicing body grabs and stuff. It really was a challenge to get out of his chokeholds, and he said he was going easy on me. By the end of the day, I was exhausted. Of course, it was technically considered night since when we entered the Nether the sun had just gone down. All the other three must have been used to the night was day and day was night schedule, because they looked fine.
Other than the bruises and mat burns, training was surprisingly fun. We practiced no weapon fighting styles in case we ever lost our weapon and needed to use our fists. When Daniel and Bruce were showing how to do certain moves like body grabs and chokeholds it almost looked like a dance, they were both so fast and had muscle memorized everything. I'm not even sure if people actually say muscle memorized. And by the end of the day, I had memorized chokeholds and body grabs one through five. I wasn't very good at any of them but at least I was showing promise. The entire time Audrey hit one of the armor stands with her sword over and over again.
"Okay, I think that's good enough for tonight. Let's get ready for bed." Daniel said as the tiredness was finally getting to him. "Hazel your room is down the hall and to the right, I think."
"I thought it was the left hall, then a right." Bruce questioned.
"Uuuhhh!!" Audrey groaned. "I'll take her to her room!" Audrey then lead me through a hall, taking me left and right. I made sure to memorize all the turns we took. I didn't want to get lost. That would be double embarrassing. "Here we are.." Audrey said, obviously not wanting to be there. I turned to the door, but before I could open it I felt a grip tug my shoulder and slam me against the wall. My back hit the cold Netherack hard and I saw Audrey holding me against it by my shoulder. With her other hand, Audrey put her sword to my throat and threatened to cut me right then and there. I stared horrified into her glowing white eyes but she only stared back full of hatred.
"Why, do you, hate me, so much?!" I asked weakly. What?! It's hard to talk with the air knocked out of you and a diamond sword threatening to slice you at any moment.
"If you even try to be the best student, I'll cut you to pieces!" Audrey threatened. I got the message and she could see it in my non-glowing eyes.
"I wasn't even, thinking that. Now, please.. Let me go!" I begged. Finally, she let me go and I fell to my knees and breathed heavily, desperate for oxygen.
"Remember this..." Audrey said coldly.
"How could I forget?" I asked as I looked up at her, a little sarcasm in my voice. Audrey just huffed and stomped away. When her footsteps could no longer be heard I slowly stood up and limped my way I to my room. I was covered in bruises and that little threat from Audrey only added a few to the pile.
When I looked around my room I saw that it was a small windowless room with only a bed and a chest, nothing else. I sat on my bed full of drowsiness and replayed the day in my head. I thought of training and the new kids I just met. I thought of Herobrine and the fact that he's my uncle. I thought about the village I burnt down and Henry the villager, the one I had let escape with his family. Every time I thought about the village I felt sick inside. Was I changing? Am I really just going to accept this? Or am I going to at least try to escape? The question that scared me most, however, shook all my thoughts as it crept into the center of attention... Who will I become?...
