The Tragic Chief Warden (2/3)

Longinus looked sullenly upward, not catching up, and when Ember flew away from the relatively narrow and cramped space of the prison and into the vast expanse of blue sky, it could be the other side's territory.

At the moment, the stinging pain in his right hand continued to sting his nerves, and Longinus looked down to see a horrific hollow hole in his palm, almost entirely pierced, the wound left behind by the long beak directly pierced by Ember's acceleration.

Only the blood energy fed by the Seven Star Sword gradually surged into the body, and the flesh sprouts in the cavity continued to squirm. Although it was somewhat disgusting, the injury was recovering at speed, visible to the naked eye.

However, instead of continuing, Longinus actively severed his body's connection to the Seven Star Sword.

"If the injury is not severe enough, how do I emphasize the contribution I have made to Impel Down? Also, the body's ability to recover can be used as a card, for now, so it's better not to expose it yet." Planning everything, Longinus sat paralyzed on the ground, his right leg bent at the knee, one hand resting weakly on it, sweat seeping out, his breathing gradually muddled.

Soon after, a furious figure rushed up, followed by two figures drenched in blood.

"Hiss! What kind of battle is it that would cause Blazing Hell to be almost destroyed!" Stepping through the air to LEVEL 4, Magellan could hardly believe that the wreckage in front of him was Blazing Hell, he remembered.

"The incomparably thick scent of blood, fragrant, and intoxicating!" Shiryu slightly perversely licked the corners of his mouth and analyzed from the scent that remained in the air, "At least a thousand prisoners died here. If I'm not mistaken, all the pirates on the fourth level, as well as some pirates that were released on the fifth level, should have died here!"

"Well, I'm sorry to disappoint you!" A weak, feeble voice came from the corner, "A few pirates escaped while I was fighting Ember, and I wonder if the jailer caught them?"

The three were horrified because they hadn't even noticed Longinus' breath before. Could it be that Longinus had weakened to such an extent?

Jarvis appeared like lightning beside Longinus, a small mountain of a body keeping Longinus in check in the shadows.

"Ensign Longinus, are you all right?"

"I'm fine. It's just a shame I couldn't hold off Ember and World and let them get away at the last minute!" Longinus clenched his right fist hard, resigned.

Magellan's men were embarrassed, but if they hadn't let World go, Longinus would never have been in such a mess with his strength.

"Huh? Brother Longinus, what happened to your hand?" Magellan noticed Longinus's clenched fist and suddenly exclaimed.

"A small wound, nothing more." Longinus waved his hand carelessly, but "unintentionally" allowed them to see the injury more clearly.

"Is this an injury caused by Ember's transformation? With even you being wounded to this extent, it seems I need to re-evaluate that traitor's strength!" Jarvis said quietly.

"Not quite that, it's a wound left to me by Ember after being accelerated by the ability of Moa Moa no Mi, he's still not far behind me in person."

Although Longinus made light of the situation, the danger was unimaginable, Ember was already powerful, and the destructive blow that World had given him to speed up his outburst at any cost was terrifyingly strong. With Blazing Hell's tragedy, they could almost visualize a brainstorm of a scene between life and death.

"Hey! Brother Longinus, you alone exterminated thousands of prisoners attempting to escape and stopped Ember for such a long time. While the three of us couldn't even completely suppress the riotous Infinite Hell and even allowed the Red Count and World to escape to cause you trouble, we three suck in comparison!" Magellan said, blaming himself.

Shiryu and Jarvis twitched slightly, I'm okay with you blaming yourself, but can you not take it upon yourself to drag us both?

However, they were all a bit speechless again when they thought of Longinus's contribution as an outsider in this transformation.

"You're just belittling yourself too much, we all know very well what kind of place Eternal Hell is, and the difficulty of suppressing it is simply not comparable to those pirates in Blazing Hell and Freezing Hell."

Hearing what Longinus said, Jarvis was somewhat comforted and infinitely saddened at the same time.

During his reign, first, Shiki escaped from prison, leading to the Impel Down myth's shattering. This time it's even better, the Warden defected, the great pirate Aloof Red, as well as the World Destroyer, managed to escape from prison. As for the handful of possible escapee mongrels mentioned by Longinus, he doesn't even care anymore.

With such a big blunder, even if the government thought highly of his fighting ability, there was no way he would be allowed to stay in this position any longer.

The good news is that Jarvis was very determined and quickly steadied himself and said, "This time mainly it's because I was too careless, I didn't expect Ember to go this far. I'll be the one to explain it to the government, as for the three of you all doing a great job, I'll report all of your accomplishments."

"Chief Warden Jarvis, you ...," said Magellan with hesitation.

"After today, the Chief's position should be yours. You don't have to worry too much, generally speaking, I will still be the Vice Warden for at least a few more years, in the meantime, I will assist you in the management of this large prison."

"And Shiryu, the position of Head Jailer is reserved for you. I'm sure you'll do a better job than Han ... Wait, where's Hannyabal?" Jarvis said, waking up abruptly to the question.

"He seemed to be suppressing riots in the first three levels before, and I haven't seen him since Ember Rebellion." Longinus shook his head. Naturally, he would ignore that kind of minor character that wasn't any threat to himself.

Jarvis nodded slightly, "He's done some good work this time, though, to assist in suppressing the riots in the first three levels."

After saying that, Jarvis looked straight at Longinus again, "And you, Ensign Longinus, it's thanks to you this time. Otherwise, the pirates from these two layers would scurry out and cause more harm to this sea than even the sea pirates like the Red Count."

"Although I won't be in Chief Warden's position for much longer, your outstanding contributions to Impel Down will be reported to the Marine and the Government before I step down."

Longinus also laments that an honest man cannot be his!

He's a little embarrassed to keep screwing each other over when he's sold out and counting money for him, like Jarvis.

"Well, when I have some say in the Marines, let's find a way to make it up to him, such as ... bringing him into the Marines to work for me, it's for his good, what kind of harmonious headquarters is there to treat in a shady prison?" Longinus looked at the other man with kind eyes until goosebumps rose on Jarvis, and then said with deep emotion, "Thank you so much, Chief Warden Jarvis!"
