CHAPTER NINETY-ONE

A laugh escaped Alec's lips as tears formed in his eyes. The joy he felt at that one moment after finding out his sister finally remembered him was worth everything he had experienced. He had no qualms about walking through fires of hell just to reunite with her. 

He couldn't stop the tears as his heart swelled with love and euphoria. "She remembers me? She. . . Remembers?" he asked, his voice breaking into a sob. He couldn't describe the happiness he was feeling.

But—the doctor's words finally caught up to him. He stopped, putting a lid into his joy, and replayed it once more in his mind. He looked straight into the doctor's eyes.

"But. . .Why did? She sounded like she's saying goodbye?" he asked, his voice cold.
