Believe

"How is he? When is he going to wake up? What happened?"

"Mrs. Evans, please stay calm… He fainted from fatigue, your husband hadn't been sleeping for many nights, and he just fainted from stress."

Damn! I cannot stay calm, how can he ask me to stay calm? Is he crazy? My dear husband is in a hospital bed, and I am freaking out right now. No… No, I should stay calm, Eve, stay calm.

"He has been having severe migraines, Miss. Had you noticed?"

"Yes," I couldn't remember him telling me once about his migraines, but I saw the medicine bottles inside the room. "I saw the painkillers."

"Mm… we will do more tests, rest assured Mrs. Evans, he will be fine."

The doctor made other quick tests, and he left the room.

However, I was not content, as the woman that followed us from the very beginning was the one my husband called last night. Rose had been holding his hand from the beginning as he grabbed her and hadn't let her go.

I should not be jealous, but I am going crazy. I should stay calm and not commit an atrocity.

"Mrs. Evans, I didn't mean to… I didn't know what happen. He fainted, and I think he thought I was you…"

I knew she was innocent, she wouldn't dare provoke me or Liam, however, I knew that the reason he was holding her hand was that maybe, just maybe he knew it was hers, not me.

"Don't worry, I understand. Miss Rose, I would have to ask you a favor, stay with him for the time being. I will leave my subordinates with you."

"Yes, of course, Mrs. Evans."

I turned around and walked away, Ian was behind me in silence. He hadn't spoken any word since we arrived at the hospital. However, I knew something was not right. That expression showed so much concern.

I looked for an unoccupied room and dragged him.

"What is going on, Ian?"

"We don't have time, Eve, we should move your family."

"Where? Why?"

"I know a place, I built it a long time ago… Go to your daughter and take her to that place. I will take your husband there. But Eve, don't tell anyone…"

"But…"

"It is okay, Eve, believe me."

"Okay… but…" I looked at the door. What would happen to Liam? I didn't want to leave him here. Not after, Ian told me that we could be in danger.

"I know, Eve, nothing will happen to him. I promise."

He smiled, and I felt reassured looking at those eyes. It was the same gaze he always used to calm me down and when he vowed to do something even at the risk of his life.

I went as fast as I could to my car without waiting for Vin or my bodyguards. Ian's words surely made me jump in fright. Something was not right. Why didn't he want me to tell anybody? I believed in my people, they couldn't be… No, there must be something else.

When I arrived home, I saw grandpa and uncle with Maya, she was playing happily with my princess and when they looked at me, I could see their worried faces.

"Darling? Is Liam alright?"

"Yes, Maya, I… I will take Mila with me and then go to the hospital."

"But… I will go with you."

"No. It's okay, Maya, we will come fast."

She looked worried, and she won't stop to insist on accompanying me, but right now I couldn't do anything.

"But… darling."

"Please, Maya."

The other two men looked concerned but respected my decision. However, I could catch a mysterious glance from my uncle. He looked at grandpa as if asking permission to say something. What with these two?

"Uncle? Is there anything?"

"No, darling, I was just concerned about you and Maya. Should we follow you to the hospital?"

"No. It's okay, Liam won't stay for much longer there. We will be alright. I will call you later."

I know I am not that good of an actress, and their looks told me that they could feel I was hiding something. Right. I was never good at fieldwork, my teams were the ones making the active and dangerous part of the work, saving people, dismounting bombs, and many others action movies kind of things. I was only the brain behind it. Not that I wasn't courageous and hadn't gone through Master hell training, but I was not that skilled on the field.

Goodness. I should go now before they start suspecting me even more.

"I will go now, I will text you later."

I took Mila and her bag and went away to my car quickly. I was being a bit paranoid, so I went to the hospital first in case someone was following me, and disabled all the cameras in the underground garage. Maya was giggling the whole time. Goodness! This little princess is having fun while her mother is about to have a panic attack. Then I went into another car, I had to borrow it. Okay, okay, I stole it, but I will compensate the person later.

The address was in a very exclusive building a bit further from the business center. Some company had bought this place many years ago and started the renovations, but as it was a bit far and not in a renowned neighborhood, nobody paid attention to it. However, the looks from outside were quite impressive.

I went through the metal gates without saying a word, as the guard at the entrance didn't ask for my name, but only took a quick glance from the guardhouse window. I guessed Ian had already informed him of my arrival.

I parked in the underground garage and I saw two other cars. I hoped they were from Ian. However, I didn't want to go down until I received the call from him, it was always our method. I would wait until he called and everything was safe.

Some minutes passed and no calls.

"What is going on?" Then…

*Knock… knock*

Someone hit the window and I saw Ian's face showing a big smile. I felt so relieved. But, the moment I stepped down with my baby bundle in my arms I almost went pale, and a murderous feeling crept on my back. I was about to go back to my car, but a gun was pointing at me.

"Eve, don't you dare move."
