Distance

I became a zombie. My life was a marvelous dream when I met Liam. We were happy, so, so happy, but now, even with the beautiful princess Mila by my side, I was in a depressive mood. I was jealous and exhausted, Liam had been acting weird since that day, and we almost did not talk for two entire days. I don't know if he is sleeping as well as before or if he has nightmares because we hadn't shared a bed for a full night since then. He stays in his study to finish some work and returns to bed very late at night, almost at the same time I woke up.

"Master… Master?"

Someone is calling me, who is? Who cares?

"Master!"

"Vin? What are you doing here?"

"The reports from the teams came yesterday. The woman ThisAster4u is attacking all the Origin centers, Martin and the ones recently added to the organization are making major achievements tracking her, but she has so much financial support…"

Vin kept talking and talking, but any of his words could reach me, my mind was somewhere else. This can't go on. I was losing myself in this bullshit. I will go and tell him everything now, fuck off with the plot. If he thinks I am crazy, I will only have to prove it to him, and if after all he still thinks I am crazy, well, bad for him, he married me and I won't let him go.

"Master?"

"Vin, I am sorry, wait for me, I have to go somewhere else."

"It's not that… sighs… your phone has been ringing from a few minutes ago."

I noticed the missed calls from an unknown number. Who could it be? However, before I could track the number back, I received a call from the same number.

"Hello?"

"Eve?"

"Yes, who is this? How did you get this number?"

"Don't you remember me?"

The strange voice came from a man, I got the feeling of some familiarity, but at the same time not. Where did I hear this voice?

"No, stop playing games, who are you?"

This is my personal number and I considered it secure, I was smart enough to block it and no one could find it unless they have an extraordinary ability.

"Ian Lark."

"What?"

"Eve, I am downstairs at the entrance of your office building."

"Are you crazy? Why would I let you inside? We don't have any family relations anymore."

I let out a small smirk, this little fry wants to talk to me? In his dreams. If it were another time I would love to play with him a bit, but now, I was about to confess to my husband, I am not in the mood to entertain this horrible man.

"No, Eve. We are related, we are very much related, Eve, or should I call you Storm? Or more like Eva Hassen?"

"…"

"Eve, can I go up now?"

"Yes, wait a minute."

I hung up the phone, but my breath was difficult to control. Nobody knew that name, only Master Killian and two more. Yes, only two more.

"Eve, who was that?"

"He… he is my brother, I would go to receive him, let's talk later."

I rushed outside without noticing Vin's stunned expression. He understood my family issues and the one I always called little brother was him, but now…

I moved downstairs quickly from the elevator doors to look for the man. He was standing behind glass doors staring at the big silver name EVE in the reception. That damn Lucas made it to satisfy my big ego, not that I didn't like it.

Ian smirked, but it wasn't with a mock or his usual cold stare, but a happy smile. With a warm smile and without those odious glasses, he looked so different. I could see the few girls around the entrance throwing looks at the handsome man, showing his dimples. I would be stunned if that same face was not from Ian Lark.

I stood behind him and I knew he heard the high heels from behind. But, I didn't know what to say. I was expectant. Could he be?

"I am fascinated by how much you have grown up. This place is amazing, Eve." He stayed, looking at the name and the big holographic screen showing the many logos our company managed. "Master would be very proud, little one."

He turned around and showed me the most amazing smile he was capable of. For a second, I could see the same face as the man I remembered.

"He_Henry?"

My voice almost cracked.

"No… Ian, for now, I think. I am still not used to this body, but it will happen later."

"You… how? I thought…"

"Yeah, I know, … sighs… let's go up and talk."

He took my hand and waited for me to calm down. I knew my tears were starting to show as I couldn't contain the emotion. He was my brother, after all, the one from my past world, the one that always protected me and took care of me ever since the orphanage took me in, however, with time I realized we were real siblings. Biological siblings separated long ago. And, he was not the only one, there was one more.

"Eve, so… I have a niece and a brother-in-law?"

I blushed. He knew I was a hard nut to crack when it came to relationships. I made many suitors suffer, and I was never serious with anyone, not until now.

"Yes."

"Should I meet them?"

"I… Yes."

"Does he know?"

"No, but…"

He looked at me and sighed. "I know… is Martin around? Did he show you?"

"…"

"Eve?"

"Yes."

That time when I went missing, Martin told me everything. The reason why we arrived at this world, the way we got here, and a secret I shall not tell anybody. However, that didn't explain why is the damn plot controlling everything? How could that be? And who is that woman?

"Then you should have a lot of questions, right?"

"The plot."

"It is a farce, Eve. It is a scheme."

"What are you talking about?"

"It is difficult to tell, it is better if I show you, but we have to move your husband and daughter out of your home. It is not safe."

"What are you saying?"

I felt as if he was telling me something dreadful, he was my dear brother, the one I will always believe in. But now my family expanded a lot more, much more, and Mila was at the very center.

"Eve, I…"

He didn't get to finish when Vin opened the door with a shocked expression on his face while his eyes looked scared.

"Eve, it is Liam… he fainted…"

What the hell is going on? Why is this happening? That moment I thought my heart was leaving my body, but only for a few seconds before I ran away to my car…
