Rise of Tutankhamun

"Tut, listen! This is required. You can't get out of it, I'm sorry. Look I know what your father did and he was a vile man. You are not him, Tut. I promise I will guide you through and you will be the greatest and humblest pharaoh the empire has ever seen. You'll be a peacemaker." Jayden comforted the wailing boy in his arms. He didn't want Toutankhaton to have a mental breakdown and was doing everything he could. Isobel had gone with the guards to bring the priest from the temple, saying that she didn't trust Nefertiti's choice.

Truth be told, he didn't either. The woman was not above killing her stepson, the heir just because she loathed him. If she did so, the throne would go to Ay, which he didn't want to happen. That was the reason he let her go and sat here to comfort the panicked boy dealing with PTSD.

Jayden rubbed circles on Toutankhaton's back trying to calm him down a bit which worked. Tut was now softly sobbing and hiccuping as Jayden continued to rub circles on his back. "I will back you with everything I have, Tut. Believe in me," he whispered into the kid's hair, hugging him a bit tighter.

The guard at the door knocked to let them know that the priest and his apprentice were here. Jayden yelled to give them a couple more minutes. He begrudgingly separated Toutankhaton from his embrace which he didn't want to do seeing how emotionally unstable the child was. Jayden smoothed out Tut's hair and pecked his head. "You are a very strong and nice boy. You are going to rule this place and tell them what a real ruler is."

"I can't even walk right, Ay. I'm not strong." Tut said, looking at his one twisted and deformed foot. "I am unfit for a ruler. How will I fight a war?"

"You will fight it with your mind, Tut. A strong man, if foolish, is not any better than a dead man. The mind is all you need and you are smart. Not only so, spread the peace. It is your chance, remove any traces of the man who killed Maia." Jayden told him sternly. "This is your chance Toutankhaton and you are going to take it."

Toutankhaton looked up and gave him a watery smile. Jayden smiled back at the boy. "Come in," he yelled.

The door opened and in came a guy dressed in a pure white skirt and followed by a shorter guy in a cream skirt. The shorter guy was carrying a small box. Behind them both was Isobel.

'Checked them up?' Jayden asked Isobel through the mental link.

'Yep, Alex worked hard. Found a bit of zinc on the needle but I think it was more for trying to keep in condition. It could have been a bit harmful but not life-threatening. Don't know what that woman has up her sleeve, though. Don't let Tut away from your eyes.' Isobel answered.

Jayden sighed. 'Maybe she doesn't have anything up her sleeve.' he said, but even then he didn't believe himself.

Isobel mentally scoffed. 'Nefertiti is a prideful woman. The thought that her husband deemed her daughter to be prettier and the heir is a bastard child, an orphan, is enough to get her fuming. She could burn the world for her pride.'

The priest cut their mental tête-à-tête by speaking. "You both can wait outside. We will call you when he is done."

Toutankhaton turned towards them with a fearful expression and Jayden just smiled at him nodding his head. "We're both staying here, start the ceremony," Jayden ordered them in a harsh deep voice. The tone was so much like Ay's that Isobel for a moment forgot that it was Jayden and Tey's involuntary reaction to step back was taken. She was glad that Jayden didn't notice and was busy glaring at the two men in front of him. Isobel straightened and stepped next to Jayden.

The priest's face darkened with a scowl but he quickly morphed it into a charming smile. "Okay, let's start."

"Be gentle," Jayden warned. The priest gulped but nodded.

His apprentice took hold of the flesh around Toutankhaton's naval. Tut closed his eyes tightly anticipating the pain but Jayden stopped the guy who was going to pierce him by holding his hand.

Jayden sat on the bed next to Tut's lying form. Toutankhaton sensing someone near him opened one of his eyes to look around. "Hold on to me,'' Jayden said, giving his hand to the child. Toutankhaton quickly grabbed him. Jayden motioned them to get on with it.

The guy pinched his stomach again and Toutankhaton tightened his grip. The priest started chanting in, eh, whatever. Even Tey didn't recognize the language.

The chanting got louder and faster and that was the moment the shorter guy pierced the naval quickly. Toutankhaton gasped and crushed Jayden's hand, making him yelp. The priest pulled out a bottle and threw it on the ground making a spatter design on the dirt. The priest smudged the wet mud on his fingers and walked towards Toutankhaton. He quickly drew a straight vertical, a horizontal line over it like in the letter 'T' and a forked base.

Tey knew about the symbol. It was the 'Was-Sceptre'. The most powerful symbol in ancient Egypt, as it was the symbol that signified power. It was a symbol that signified who was the person who held power now. Toutankhaton was now the king, he was the boy king, the pharaoh of Amarna.

Toutankhaton regulated his breathing and slowly dropped Jayden's Hand. The apprentice quickly moved and placed the belly button after removing the needle. Tut nodded to himself and sat on the bed. He took in a deep breath and looked at everyone in the room along with the guards. Jayden's breath hitched. It was at this moment. The fire in his eye told him this is the moment. The room turned colder but the blood in his veins was boiling and pumping in anticipation.

Everyone in the room bowed down to their knees to show their respect for the pharaoh, including Jayden and Isobel. Jayden held his breath and a grin slit his face at Tut's next words.

"I am Tutankhamun and I will remove every trace of Akhenaten in my kingdom." he hollered into the room shocking everyone into silence.
