Clay's POV
"I really don't want to go" i said to Mark but i'm already in my long sleeved polo so it's just my last minute pleading. Part of me wanted to see my father again, also the other half shouts his mistakes. I just hoped that this will go well. "Can you stop telling that already? You're already dressed up" Mark replied. After several minutes Lynn and Jean arrived and i stood up to get the door. As soon as i opened the door, Lynn and Jean's face looked so taken aback. What? Am I that good looking right now? First Mark then this two? Then i saw Jean so stunning in her very simplistic blue dress that brings out her ocean blue eyes which also complements her blonde hair. She looked like a goddess on a casual wear. You know if you see something like that. We then, Jean and I, got inside Lynn's car. She let us use ger car because it's kind of far from here. They, Mark and Lynn, agreed to wait for us to come back before going home. They also are the one who'll be attending to mom now that i have some business to attend to. I drove Lynn's car, jean is on the passenger die. I noticed how her face has a mix of sadness and nervousness. "You nervous?" I asked. She then flinched and said "A little..." With a very casual induced voice.
We arrived at the diners' 5 minutes before the said time. I, personally, was glad that Mark had insisted me on wearing this polo because for one, i didn't know that this was a private restaurant. I know that my Dad is a successful business man but i didn't know that they'd be spending much money just to talk to us. Must be something of real importance. We talked to the receptionist about a meeting with Mr. Jordan, then he led us to a room. The room is brilliant white with several pillars from each corner. A small chandelier at the center and below it is a table for 4 person. There sat our parents, My dad with his white polo topped with a nice and slick coat of black. The sight of him really disgusts me, then beside him is Jean's Mom. She wears a pink nearly white dress with a bun for her hair. They look so elegant and in the first glance they look so perfect and fitting for each other. Not until you remember what they'd done to be together and what they shouldn't have.
"Just right in time, right come, I don't tolerate tardiness to be honest" My dad said. Now his first statement did really gave me a start up to boil my blood. We sat then, i sat next to Jean who looked so intimidated yet trying her hard to feel strong, i for one was a little intimidated, but the fact that it's dad and his evilness is in front of me takes away that feeling. I feel more of being irritated and wanted to end this pathetic dinner before i go ballistic.
A waiter then came inside and gave us each a menu. My eyes could pop out of my head, the prices are as high as my Dad's pride, and that's saying something. If Dad could convert his pride and arrogance with money, he'll make a good run for it. He's a fountain of those. I chose not to order the cheapest but one of the most prestigious meals i could muster to order. I won't end this without having a little of a give back for him. Jean chose to order the same as I am. The waiter then get back the menu and got out of the room telling that it will be ready in 10 minutes.
"I haven't seen you since you were a kid honey" Jean's Mom said with a sweet smile on her face. To think about it now, i don't even know her name. With the statement Jean's mom said Jean just smiled forcefully. She's playing nice i could feel emotions rushing through her, what kind of it is a mystery to me. I saw jean's fists becoming uneasy every moment, maybe it's her some kind of stress reliever. "Well that's good news, i don't really want a stalker you see" jean replied. My ears are shook from what it heard. That's quite a spicy response. Then by Jean's reply, her Mom then quickly dropped har smile. She looked embarrassed than sad actually. Jean then pick up her phone and pretending to text someone, a sign which means she doesn't like the conversation. Then my Dad spoke, "So you and Clay, How long have you been together?" And Jean's attention quickly got back to reality. I too was shook. "We're not together actually Dad" i explained. Then Dad nodded in understanding. His audacity to say that is astronomical, he have nothing to do with what we have, not that we have something more than of being a friend to each other. "Well then, do you mind telling us how long you've been my Son's girlfriend?" My Dad then asked again with quite a delight in his face. This idiot. "Oh no sir, He's not my boyfriend..." Jean explained. Then with that Her mom's brows were raised. "Yet" her mom added. Then she smiled to the both of us. I'm getting hot in here actually. I rubbed the back of my neck to contain my self. "I can see that you both are doing well with your relationship, but i want to tell you this-" my dad conversed but i cut it saying, "You know why mom is in a comma right now?" I don't want an advice to a conceited man. My dad then paused then continued "Why?" He asked. At the very least we're in a different context now. "She had a heart problem months after you left us, and guess what? She had a heart attack right at the top of a stair case" i replied with an arrogant tone to signal his conscience at least. My dad's face then become sad. Jean's mom held my Dad's hand and with that Jean's then spat a loud exhale breath of annoyance. They truly are very annoying, showing us their affection. After a moment of silence the food then came inside.
It was a really extravagant meal. I tried my best to look so well known of the place so i don't look ignorant in front of dad. I din't want him to think that my mom raised a pathetic son. We ate in deep silence. I chose not to spoil myself with the food and ate just enough but not full. After that moment of delightful servings that most inevitable moment of the dinner came. Now we have to really talk with him, just make it fast please. The waiter then got out of the room for a little privacy. "You probably don't know why we invited you for dinner" My dad initiated. "Curiosity led us here so spit it out and let's get this done" i replied. I will not remove my arrogant tone for once in my life. Feel the bitterness of your own son for leaving him. My dad then looked a little taken aback by the tone of my voice but quickly got to himself again. "Right, we just want you to understand about your sustenance from the both of us" Jean's mom said. She looked directly at her daughter's eyes which jean looked back with a very firm stare. "Yeah like we cared what you'll give us, we survived 13 years of our lives without you, what came into your mind to think that we'll need your help now?" She replied with much arrogance with mine. Gosh she really is aiming for the nerves. Grudge i can feel from the tip of her every hair. Her mom was shocked with quite an open mouth.
"You don't understand, Matthew and I-" her mom explained. "We're a couple of home wrecker who choses to have a kittle team up for a more devastation effect" Jean cut her mom's statement and by that i agreed. I gave my dad i deep disgust look which he responded with a brow raised. Jean and Her mom were staring at each other both with annoyance. "Please just let us finish first before you spit your under educated language" my dad said. This is really a nerve wracking statement. He just called us under educated. "Yeah sure brace yourself, i haven't spoken yet, please continue" i said. By that statement i felt so professional with this 'uneducated language' they're calling. Jean's mom then smiled with annoyance but choses not to continue the topic. "I'm starting to think that this conversation will both give us nothing" My dad said looking at Jean. "Will you look at that. Maybe you should've thought about your decisions first before planning this" I replied. "Just please..." Dad replied at me. I stared at him raising an eye brow to signal him to continue. "...we received a threat from one of our clients who've gone so personal, we just want to give what we worked hard for in a worthy hands" He continued. "You want us to keep your money?" Jean inquired. "No, we want to transfer it to the both of you, if you'll accept it..." Jean's mom replied but i cut it "we'll be grateful for your assistance, is that it? You wanna pay for what you did?" I replied. By that statement of mine Jean's mom looked at me. "Will you accept our offer? It's a one way offer, you'll accept the money and we'll go and settle ourselves" Dad said. I looked at Jean, both of us sure of what we're going to say. "No" we both said. They look so shocked by our response. "What? You didn't expect us to decline the offer?" Jean replied.
"No, but we didn't think that you were raised like this when we were gone" her mom replied. "Yeah well maybe you thought about that first before leaving us" i replied. By the words i spoke Jean's mom stood up but i stood up at the same time, my dad calming Jean's mom. "You don't know what we have to do to be in this position-" my dad said but i cut him saying "Oh yes we do, you just left the family you first built and realized you wanted a new one so you abandoned us" i replied. My dad then took me from the collar of my polo. "What? Going to punch your ungrateful son? You want me thank you for the money you'd give us and forget that you left us? You like it like that don't yah?" I said. Our eyes met each other's ego. Into my surprise he really did punched me in the face. I was taken aback. I smiled arrogantly touching the hit spot and spit. He then realized what he did and tried to help me get up. He looked worried but i ignored his help. Jean then helped me to get up looking so angry from the both of them. "This is how you want to play huh? You just dug your own grave and now you want us to help you get out from it? Well fuck you! Fuck the both of you!" I exclaimed. Then my dad looked so worried and held my arms when i was turning my back at them to get out. "I-i'm sorry i didn't mean to hit you, j-just please-" he said when she was cut by Jean's voice. Not just Jean's voice, he was cut by Jean's hands. When i turned to look i saw jean holding my Dad's neck and muttered something before going out of the room. We heard her mom said our names but we chose to walk out.
"Those bitches really have a very thick nerve" Jean said. We got out of the restaurant and walked through the parking lot. We drove back home, i can feel the hit spot hurt now. After minutes of driving we got home. I knocked and Lynn welcomed us back home. They were shocked to see a mark on my face. We ranted inside the house as soon as we got inside. Lynn then lend us to seat while Mark is giving me an ice pack. Now it really hurts. Adrenaline gone.
