Epilogue v1

I liked at my mother and father, and I smiled at them. Today, we were going to go feed that sweet little kitty again! I was so excited to see her, I hoped that this time she would let me rub against her back. She was a sweet cat, she was just always scared of us for some reason.

I wondered what sort of terrible owner might have done something so terrible to her. We fed her twice a week, plenty to get by, and a couple extra in the case that she had and friend or two with her. I could tell that she was sad lately, she had a friend that was always with her, but we had not seen him for a while.

I wondered if the cat had passed away, I wondered how that could be so. Both of the cats were fairly young, maybe one of them had gotten sick. I could tell that cats had friends, and that they had emotions, my parents did not seem to believe it.

I wanted to bring the cat in, but my parents would not let me, it was because they were allergic to cats and dogs. So I was always alone, I did not have many friends at school either, the one happy part of my life was usually coming to the abandoned house and feeding the young cat.

She was always there, she would look so happy when she saw that we had food for her, especially the food of the wet variety. I looked out the window of the car, we were nearly there, I could see it not too far away in the distance.

I closed my eyes, just thinking, about the cat. I then heard the cat stop, and my father pulled out the keys to the car. I opened my eyes and then began to smile. My father looked back at me, and he smiled at me as well. Then he began to speak to me.

"Susan, we are going to adopt the cat, it will be a bit of a process, we will need to get her checked up and all of that, but happy birthday sweetie!" He said to me. I began to freak out, I was so surprised! I did not expect this out of my father at all.

My mother, as per usual, she kind of made me feel a bit sad, I did not know why my father fell in love with her, sometimes I wished that she was not my mom. She looked around a bit angrily, but she nodded back to my father and started to talk.

"That is if we can get her, which we probably wont be able to, so do not get your hopes up." She said to me. I looked down at the ground a bit sadly, thinking of that thought, but my father just shook his head at her, and he began to walk to the trunk to get a bowl of food, just a single 1 this time.

I watched as he began to pour some wet food into the container, as he finished it up, he then nodded for me and my mother to follow him to the back yard. I smiled as I walked back with them, and then we went into the back.

We did not seem her anywhere which was perfectly normal, but I saw 2 other cats in the back yard, that moved back, and hissed at us when they saw that we were in the yard. It was what I had feared, and I could already see the look on my mothers face.

They did not move towards us, me and my father walked to the back door of the abandoned house to drop the food off to the cat, and try to get her in to catch her, my father handed my the bowl while my mother gave the cage to my father to trap her in.

We then began to walk down the hallway of the the house, going over to the room that she normally stayed in, which was a surprise that she would not have stayed in the master bedroom, but instead chose one of the smaller rooms in the house.

My father made a quiet clicking noise to let her know that we were there, and then we walked into the room, as we walked in, I noticed that we were not alone at all. In fact, as far as I could count, I could see that there were at least 10 other cats in the room, along with some kittens.

My father moved back, very surprised to see so many cats, I heard one cat in particular stand out, and then his very loudly, much louder than the cats in the back yard had hissed. The cat then ran after my father, the other cats looking around a bit scared and a bit confused as to what was going on.

The cat then jumped on my dads leg, and put a deep scratch into my dads leg, my dad yelled in a bit of pain, and a bit of surprise as well, he then pushed the cat off of him. The cat flew to the other side of the room, and then it continued to hiss at my father.

My father turned his head over to me a bit angry, and then he began to shout at me as he nodded to me to leave the room, as he followed from right behind me, I was so confused and a bit scared as to what was going on.

"Susan! We need to get out of here, I am sorry but we cant get the cat today... It looks like she wasn't the only one looking for food." He said to me. As we got out of the house I looked at the scratch on my dads leg, it was a pretty deep scratch but he was going to be okay.

My mother noticed us right away, and she walked over, looking at me right away, she saw that there was a cut on the leg of my father. She shook her head angry at me, as if I was the one that had attacked my father.

"Susan... We are not bringing that cat in if she is attacking your father..."
