Dragons (2)

George found himself surrounded from all sides by the black dragons, he looked straight at the alpha dragon that was taller than himself.

They were locked into a silent stand off and the tension in the air was almost touchable.

George took out a hair band from his pocket, binding his rastas into a ponytail. His rastas had obstructed his vision a few times earlier and he didn't want it to happen again as his life was on the line.

He looked at each dragon around him before turning to the alpha dragon, "So, only you and me right? The others won't interfere?" Asked George to confirm the terms of their one-on-one battle.

The alpha dragon revealed its razor sharp fangs when it grinned mockingly at him, nodding its head.

George smiled in return, "Good!"

The alpha dragon's draconic eyes dilated when it saw his gaze.

Just like its prideful gaze told George silently that he was nothing, George's gaze told the alpha dragon that it was dumb.

Its head with its long neck leaned forward and George noticed its claws grinding into the rocky ground. His smile vanished as he made short jumps on the spot, getting ready for what was about to come.

The alpha dragon then acted, it didn't take him seriously, just rushing towards him without care.

George was a bit surprised that it was faster than the other dragons despite being taller and bulkier.

'It wouldn't be the alpha otherwise...' Thought George as he also rushed forwards.

The alpha dragon took a sudden leap, jumping over 10 meters as it slashed at him with its claws.

George observed its every movement, predicting where it would move beforehand. He rolled to the side, avoiding the dangerous attack. The alpha dragon snorted as it landed, turning quickly around before leaping at him again. George again predicted it, dodging to the left.

The alpha dragon looked at him a bit confused. It knew that it was faster and stronger than him but it missed him two times in a row. It glared angrily at him.

George breathed out, revealing a smirk.

'You won't be able to touch me...I see everything!' Thought George right before frowning when he saw its long throat bulge, 'What is it tryin...Crap!'

George jumped quickly to the side as a stream of scorching flames burned the spot he stood just a second before. He had no time to think, the stream of scorching flames soon moved towards his direction.

He did all he could to avoid them but was still burned badly on the left side of his bare chest.

George hissed in agony as the pain of his flesh and skin being burned threatened to drive him crazy...

The space he could use to dodge was limited because of the circle the group of dragons formed beforehand.

His vision was blocked by the flames that burned with vigour all over the ground.

He gritted his teeth, forcing himself to stand up after rolling on the rocky ground.

The head of the alpha dragon emerged between the flames, staring down at him. It had noticed that George always began to move right before itself attacked, making it realize that George was somehow able to predict its attacks...

It was surprising but it didn't change anything, just a minor inconvenience.

'Of course it can breath fire, it's a goddamn dragon!' Mocked George himself that he forgot such a basic thing...

The alpha dragon pounced at him while the flames blocked his view on its body, making it impossible for him to predict its next attack.

It had been a long time since he found himself in such a bad situation. He had always been too good at fighting thanks to his well trained body and his eyes.

George stopped thinking, his half closed dark eyes reflecting the image of the alpha dragon pouncing at him amidst the flames. He didn't feel the pain anymore as his body relaxed completely.

The time around him slowed down while his pupils became smaller and smaller until they suddenly widened. His body came back to life as he sprinted forwards the moment the alpha dragon left the cover of the flames.

He forced it to react to him, making it possible for him to predict its attacks again. George jumped up, avoiding its claws while delivering a superman punch right on its snout.

His shirt wrapped around his right hand caught immediately fire, George took it off, throwing it over the head of the alpha dragon.

He put some distance between it and himself, breathing out. The fight was short but intense, it took everything out of him and he felt it. The burning pain from coming from his chest returned, becoming more unbearable than before.

"Thank god that I managed to enter the Zone again..." Muttered George somewhat exhausted.

He recalled the first time he entered the Zone, it was when he was playing basketball with his friends. He was so focused to win that the world and all the people around him suddenly became slower, moving in slow motion while he was able to plan ahead and do things much faster...

He searched afterwards for the name of that peculiar state on the internet and found out that it was called the Zone. A state which a person can experience when they are extremely focused on something. It slows down the sense of time from that person for a short period while the information flowing into the person's mind intensifies...

There were many occasions in which he entered it, especially while fighting against people or in sport games. He managed to enter the Zone two times now, once when he faced the group of dragons and now against their leader, saving his life twice.

He watched his shirt burning into crisp on top of the head of the alpha dragon which tilted its head in his direction. He felt a chill run down his spine when he saw its gaze.

George tilted his head too, "Why are you so weak?"

He could swear he heard a cracking sound coming from inside of the alpha dragon as scorching red flames erupted from its body like a volcano as it charged at him. Its gaze filled with killing intent and brutality.

George suppressed his smile while his eyes darted around quickly, 'Got you!'

The alpha dragon charged at him like a into mindless bull, discarding everything else.

It had never been humiliated like this before, its pride was hurt, hurt by such an inferior existence! It roared madly and snorted when it saw the weak creature trying to dodge him again.

But it didn't care, this was its strongest attack that would kill the weak creature for sure!

Then a collision happened, causing an explosion.

The alpha dragon felt its vision spin, it wasn't sure what happened because everything happened too fast.

"You are a dragon, there is no way for me to beat you. I wish I could have caught you, but life doesn't always give you what you want, so I settled for an easier target. Like the weakest dragon around..." Echoed a familiar voice across from it.

It turned its head towards the direction of the voice, opening its mouth in surprise. One of its underlings layed injured on the ground while the weak creature stood beside it, with a little shining star hovering over it.

The alpha dragon too shocked and missed the opportunity to act, witnessing how its underling was sucked into the strange little star with no resistance, the shining star lit up brightly before then entering the body of the despicable creature.

A new stream of information flooded his mind the moment he recalled his Astral Star back into his head, making George laugh weakly.

"So there was such a thing?"
