On a floor among high altitude, up at a height near Ellipses Point, Hugo Hethens sat alone in his office. His headset was broken into pieces, smashed and scattered across the floor. This was the headset that was supposed to keep him in contact with Jarrett, Suto, and Zika, during the Metatron Tournament. But it'd been two weeks since the end of the tournament, and there was still no contact from his fellow Virtues.
They were presumed to be killed and eliminated during the game.
"What a horrendously impulsive idea that was… Why did it have to end up this way…?"
Hugo had come to terms with it and had dealt with the emotion by now.
"The worst possible case scenario actually happened…"
He was the last remaining Virtue, the Virtue of Kindness.
"First was Jenzaya District and Jasper, then the doctor telling me that Wardell had finally passed away, and now Jarrett, Suto, Zika, and Axel have all gone missing in the Metatron Tournament?!" Absolutely everything had crumbled before Hugo's eyes.
He witnessed the downfall of both society and the Virtues alike.
"Fuck!!!" Hugo screamed aloud. No one would come to bug him, or check on him for being too loud. The place for Virtues in Cardinal Nexus HQ was now vacant, with him the sole tenant remaining. After all this time, there was still no word from Minister Harrison. Hugo figured he was still trying to deal with the horrifying turnout of their society. The Cardinal Nexus at this point was nothing but an image to abhor. Their symbol was the fuel to the hatred that'd brought down the justice and docile morals of the country. The government could never admit it, but they were currently trying to clean up their own irresponsible mistake. This is what kept Minister Harrison busy, "Not like he cared about us anymore anyways," Hugo thought to himself.
He was alone. Even the one who led him initially was now cast astray. He was all alone.
"What am I supposed to do? What can I even do anymore? With no one to use my knowledge at their disposal, I'm practically useless. I'm nothing but a medium containing a brain. I can't go out there and make a change alone. I need someone to use my knowledge to their advantage… Someone that has the power to make a change with my knowledge…"
Hugo sat and pondered. He watched his static screens and thought about it, for a really, really long time.
Eventually the time would come when he could make up his mind. In the mean time, he was alone.
Kindness in solitude.
