Communicating with Evil

Clarkson was so scared that he lost control of his bladder. He was not scared of Roger, but the fact was that a demon had managed to corrupt a Light Church member into becoming a fallen minion! How strong was the demon to achieve such powers? It had even evaded Executioner's Lucas's detection!

Clarkson had seen for himself how strong Lucas was. He was one of the mid-rank executioners, able to deal with fully grown low rank demons. Low rank demons had little intelligence, and did not have the capabilities to hide themselves. The same could not be said for mid rank demons.

With a mid rank demon nearby, they would all have little chance to escape from here. Clarkson's eyes rolled back from the pressure, and he passed out.

Noticing Clarkson's unusual reaction, Metro looked behind him, and was lost for words. There was a slow giant that was covered in brown fur that looked extremely soft, although that same fur was penetrating two corpses.

Metro was not shocked. He was just disappointed that this was not going to be easy for him to complete. Earlier on, he had caught the hint about the supernatural creature there was above him.

Metro did not have any viable tools to fight back against the humanoid, so he was obviously forced to use the other creature to fight against each other. It was a simple deduction, as he doubted that there was no way out for him. Even if he was wrong, he could always use Brian's Skull, which he had stored in Brian's own body earlier.

The only problem was that there was a demon nearby. In Robert's memory, a demon also had the ability to corrupt people into become demonic beings called the Fallen. The desires and inner demons in their heart would manifest in their outer appearance, shaping their behaviour.

Metro was not sure if the demon would take this chance to attack him. Thinking about it, he could not really care less. If he really died, there was nothing he could do about it.

Metro went back to Brian's body and took out the skull that he had stored in there. It still remained bone white, not contaminated by anything. On the other hand, Metro's hand was lathered with something sticky, making him feel disgust.

Wrapping the skull under his armpit, Metro started running for the stairway. The humanoid had already wandered away from the area, and was at the center of the basement now. Even though it walked slowly, it's weight was enough to form a slight footprint on the concrete whenever it stepped forward, preventing it from slipping.

As Metro ran up the stairs, he saw a gun that was left behind. He reached forward to grab it, but the moment he did so, a description appeared.

Roger's XK-2

Tier: E+

Class: Weapon

Active Skill: Metal Blessings/ Roger's Final Strike

Metal Blessings: Angel's Weaponry developed this high tech weapon, which can reduce recoil up to 100%. It is built specifically for the Clean-up squads, and has safeguards on it.

Warning: Touch the trigger and the gun will blow up.

Remarks: If your marksmanship is good, this weapon can become a lifesaver.

Metro was amazed by how many times the description of the item mentioned the gun exploding. It was even considered an active skill! This was the second item recognised by the menu, but Metro could not even use it. Unless... there was something else he could do to use it. He left that to think about later on.

Since he would not die if he just touched any other part of the gun, Metro held the gun's barrel with one hand. The other arm was still squashing the skull in place, so he could not use both arms to carry the gun. Even though he had a good grip, Metro could feel the gun slowly slipping through his palms.

Gritting his teeth, Metro arrived at the top of the stairway. In front of him was a long corridor of doors, while there was another flight of stairs next to him. At the end of the corridor, there was an entrance, which another private military officer was monitoring.

That person raised their gun and tried to shoot at Metro who was running, but then he felt something cold sitting on his back. Metro turned his head to look at the man guarding the entrance, who had suddenly dropped his gun.

Metro widened his eyes, as a blurry shadow sat on top of that person's head. Even though Metro's eyesight was fine, the shadow was just... there. Its head was lowered, as its hands was gripped around the person's neck.

The person's body bulged out, as his body began to rise slowly. He kicked at the ground to stretch his legs, trying to gain ground for breathing. However, as the shadow lifted him away from the ground, his eyes slowly rolled back, leaving the pupils white. His body turned limp, losing all signs of life.

"Is this the supernatural creature that they encountered or another one?" Metro could not keep up with the rapid development of events. However, he feared that the shadow would be the one to target him next.

Metro ascended the stairs while the shadow was still holding the unfortunate man, but there were no sounds produced by the shadow. Metro had expected the shadow to drop the man on the ground, but when he turned around, the shadow was gone, leaving the military personnel who was standing perfectly fine.

"I can smell Lord Foraging's scent on you." The man raised his head, but he was no longer a man. His eyes were filled with a deep void, which seemed large enough to swallow anything that looked inside.

"Lord Foraging?" Metro had not encountered anyone with this name yet. Was it the demon that Robert has made a deal with?

"Tell me, how did you meet him? Don't waste my time, or else I can't be sure if I want to keep you alive." Raising the gun, the possessed man threatened Metro while cocking his head.

"I... summoned him here using a ritual!" The hood had been covering Metro's face the whole time, and when he removed it, an expression of fear appeared on his face.

"You're a Demonic Purveyor? I didn't expect to see a Demonic Purveyor so soon, even after the restrictions set on the Witch has loosened..." The possessed man snickered at Metro, before lowering his gun and thinking about something else.

[Novice Charm and Cunning has triggered, IQ of target lowered.]

Metro saw this status suddenly pop out after he had fooled the demon. He exclaimed in his heart, "Damn, what an OP ability! Robert totally had it made, but he willingly dug a grave for himself for no reason."

Metro then turned his attention onto the "Witch" that the demon mentioned. It had caught his interest immediately. If he remembered it accurately, this was related to the name of the scenario.

"Return of the Witch!"
