Metro looked at this notification and slightly died inside. Apparently, this event was supposed to help him all along. No wonder he did not have to put in so much effort for that demon called Hawkes.

Metro had stepped onto the concrete ground floor, which had shattered from Hawkes' transformation earlier. He took a glance towards the basement, where sounds of bone crunching floated out. There were no screams to be heard at all. Metro suspected that the commotion that Hawkes caused had drowned out the screams of the dying Clarkson.

For now, it was best to consolidate his power. Holding Brian's Skull in his hand, he opened his Abyssal Eye. His Abyssal Eye was extremely limited, for it was only when he was on this floor that he could see the carnal energy that resides within the spiky monster in the basement.

"Huh... maybe once I upgrade my Abyssal Eye, I can forcefully pull out the carnal energy?" Great opportunities always appeared after times of danger have passed. Metro was convinced of this fact.

Using the Abyssal Eye, Metro willed the carnal energy to been drawn towards it. There was little resistance shown by the parasites, which willingly separated from the skull to re-enter the embrace of the Abyss.

The process happened quickly, and there was relatively no pain, except when the extension to his brain suddenly thickened a bit, giving Metro a minor headache. The skull slowly turned into dust, losing the structure that had kept it intact.

[Novice Abyssal Eye: You can now look deeper into the Abyss' secrets, and utilise the carnal energy to create illusions. Draw in demonic energy to upgrade this skill.]

The description for the Abyssal Eye has changed again. This time, it didn't say carnal energy, but demonic energy. Metro let out a visible sigh. He knew what demonic energy was. It was a highly concentrated form of carnal energy that was stored inside demons in the form of crystals.

Metro knew that he had no ability to deal with demons yet. The spiky monster was not even considered a real demon, not to mention that the reason Hawkes could not kill him was due to the protection of this artifact.

That meant that he could only try and rely on the forces of the Light Church to deal with the demon in his task. Checking his watch again, he had around 1.5 hours left. However, it was time well spent. He now knew the means of tracking the demon.

The Abyssal Eye was not just used for viewing carnal energy. It could also track down demons through their traces, meaning that the parasites that Metro absorbed had provided him with a lead.

Metro had also assumed that the reinforcements should come soon. The reinforcements would be his way of getting into the Light Church. He had already cooked up a plan for himself.

Metro headed for the basement, and confidently descended back to where he had awakened. There, he could see the spiky monster crunching on a few bones from a man with brown hair. Metro approached the monster and found that the man was actually Clarkson, who appeared to have run for a while before getting overpowered.

The spiky monster turned towards Metro, but its scenery had already turned into a bleak room. "What's wrong, Roger? If you're sick, you can take a day off, you know?" A youthful voice teased Roger. It was the nurse from Ward 7, Jessy.

"Oh, there's nothing wrong at all." Roger told this to Jessy, but at the same time, he felt that something was wrong. His gut feeling was never wrong, and Roger felt his stomach sinking.

"Catch THIS!" A violent knife flew towards the air in front of Jessy. "Look out!" Roger's face turned into one of concern, and crushed the knife immediately. Throwing the gun on the floor, he checked Jessy for wounds. Jessy's face was pale, and said, "Thank you for rescuing me, Roger. Who was that just now?"

At this point, Metro was already fully equipped with the squad's uniform, which he had picked up from a deceased member. That deceased member was hidden in a random corpse pile now. Picking up the ruined gun on the floor, he cancelled the illusion he had placed using the Abyssal Eye.

"Rest in pieces." Metro muttered to himself, as another van rolled up to the entrance of the apartment building. As another squad emerged from the backdoor of the van, Metro stumbled up from the stairs to the basement, while softly begging.

"Save me! Save me!" Metro's face was filtered and covered by the gas mask. He started crawling towards the other squad members, who snickered.

"Is this what the quality of these old men have fallen to? They can't even deal with deaths in their teams." One of them remarked, but Metro suddenly grew angry.

"Come see if you can deal with a Fallen too. Roger turned into a Fallen and betrayed our squad!" Metro shouted with all the power his throat could muster. The person who spoke grew confused.

"Team leader, what is this Fallen creature?" He asked the team leader, who had turned silent. The team leader took out a grenade in response.

"This is likely the most powerful grenade in the country, but at least 5 of it is needed just to incapacitate a Fallen. 10 is needed to put it down in the ground." The squad members reacted instantly, also taking out their own grenades. They headed down the stairs, and Metro could hear the sounds of pins dropping on the floor.

Metro picked himself up from the floor, and started to fake a limp towards the van. A moment later, the squad members rushed out and hid themselves from the explosion. When it happened, it was so earthshakingly loud that Metro regretted not covering his ears.

Following that, there was another "BOOM!" sound. The explosion had resulted in some foundations collapsing, and the weight of the apartments dropped down onto of the spiky monster. Luckily, the whole apartment building was built sturdily according to construction laws in city areas, so it appeared relatively normal from the outside.

A bloodstained Metro emerged from the entrance of the apartment building, before he sat down on the pavement. People from nearby buildings had turned their heads as the result of the explosion. Seeing Metro who looked like he came out of a war movie, they took out their phones and started taking photos of him.

Metro couldn't care less. His main priority was to try and blend in with the new squad members, get help from the Light Church, and escape quickly from this scenario!
