A Fallen Star

Mount Lanayru is much colder than Mount Hylia, the warm doublet given to me by the old man doesn't offer much in warmth. That's why I bought the potions from Granny Smith.

The potions have a potency of level 2 and the effects can last a whole day. Giving one to Shronia we began our adventure on Mount Lanayru.

Since my stats are maxed out I won't be entering any shrines besides blessing shrines. I still want to activate the teleportation circle though.

This game-like world is amazing, even though it's well below freezing, the potion is keeping my body warm. The cold fronts that blow in feel like a warm spring breeze.

It took a few days but we reached our first destination, the Tahno O'ah shrine.

After activating the Tahno O'ah shrine we started our next objective, the Spring of Wisdom. At the top lies the deity Naydra.

Unfortunately for Naydra, solidified Malice has trapped it in the Spring of Wisdom. Saving Naydra isn't necessary for completing the game, but I will receive a Dragon Part if I do so.

The Lanayru Range is relatively safe, most of the monsters are black variants or lower. Shronia is a great help, her gift of fire eliminates any Ice Kesse and Chuchu in one blow.

Stealth is the primary way we deal with non-icy monsters. When behind a foe, a prompt appears signaling the chance for a sneak strike. Any damage is multiplied by 8, so my attack+ savage lynel sword with 70 damage can do 560 damage with a sneak strike.

The only danger we have to watch out for is Ice-Breath lizalfos. A lizalfos is a giant bipedal lizard that dons armor covering parts of their head and upper back. As indicated by their name, an Ice-Breath lizalfos can spew icy balls. When frozen all damage is multiplied by 3.

I wonder if Alexander created his Ice Breath technique by watching Ice-Breath lizalfos? Not that I've seen it, I must ask him to demonstrate it the next time I see him.

It wasn't long before one showed itself. Lizalfos can change the color of their scales to match their surroundings, making them great at ambushing prey. When the prey is within a few feet they revert back to their original color and attack.

I took a picture, a new entry for the Compendium.

Their tails are valuable, I'm sure they'll make a nice present for Granny Smith.

Before it even had time to yell its battle cry, Shronia had already taken care of it.

"Good job" (Link)

"Its nothing special, it's just like killing an Ice Chuchu" (Shronia)

She tried to sound cool, but I could tell she is happy I praised her.

Also living on this range is the Frost Pebblit, a miniature icy version of the Stone Talus, adorable little monsters. But no matter how cute a monster is, it's still a monster. They drop ores when killed.

With the day over, we set up camp.

As we were about to tuck in, a star fell from the heavens.

"Link! A star fragment" (Shronia)

How lucky of us! Suddenly I didn't feel tired anymore, and with enthusiasm I started packing my sleeping bag.

"Shronia, we're not sleeping tonight!" (Link)

The star flew to the west, it might have landed in the Naydra Snowfield.

I don't know if we'll make it, we are a fair distance away. But it's worth a try, this is a star fragment after all. The only other ways to get them are from silver and gold lynels.

As long as we have a general location of it we should be able to find it. At night, star fragments shine a beacon into the sky. We must hurry though, if sunlight touches the star, it will disappear.

I'll give it my all, picking Shronia up I ran with all my might while in my powered state. While whistling I'm able to minimize the amount of stamina used in exchange for a slightly slower speed.

We followed the beacon of light to a slope overlooking the Naydra Snowfields, this icy forest growing in a small valley. If I remember correctly, this forest should have an abundance of chillshrooms.

I shouldn't do this too often. My legs are sore from covering scores of miles in just an hour.

"Here you go" (Link)

I gave Shronia a shield.

"What's this for?" (Shronia)

"We're going to surf down" (Link)

Taking the initiative, I surfed down the slope. My legs are still in pain, but I'll try to ignore it for now.

"Link!" (Shronia)

"Just do what I'm doing!" (Link)

I fist-bumped the air and yelled. This feels great.

I glanced behind me, Shronia got on her shield and tried imitating me.

She's doing quite well, has she done this before?

Stretching her arms into a V shape, she used her flames and boosted herself till she caught up with me.

"Thought you could leave me behind" (Shronia)

She has a smudged look on her face.

"Just try and keep up" (Link)

Upon hearing those words she sped up again.

"Not fair!" (Link)

I can't do anything to accelerate myself.

She made it to the bottom first.

"I win!" (Shronia)

As I neared the bottom I tried to stop myself, but my legs wouldn't listen to me.

"Shronia, get out of the way!" (Link)

It was too late, I crashed into her.

We rolled around in the snow for a bit, before coming to a halt.

Laying on the snow I stared at her face.

"Ouch" (Link)

We both started laughing.

"Give me a minute, I can't feel my legs" (Link)

"You can't feel your legs?" (Shronia)

"It's a metaphor, it just means my legs are numb" (Link)

That was a lie. It took more than 2 hours for the pain to subside. I rested on Shronia's lap during the time.

"Alright, let's go" (Link)

The fragment isn't that much further away, I can see something glowing ahead of us.

When we were about 100 yards from it, the majestic beacon of light stopped shining.

"What happened?" (Shronia)

She looked at me with confusion.

We hastened our pace to where the light was.

"It's a blizzrobe" (Shronia)

Standing 15 yards ahead of us is a blizzrobe, an advanced variant of the ice wizzrobe. Its small dark face has a pair of blue gem-like eyes. A large robe covers its body, long arms and legs protrude from the robe. In one hand is a blizzard rod, in the other, the star fragment.

Caution is to be advised. Though not as meaty as a lynel, a wizzrobe is a powerful enemy in this world. They are able to produce all sorts of elemental phenomena as well as summon elemental monsters to their side. They can teleport around making them tricky to pinpoint.

I took the savage lynel bow out, notching a fire arrow I lined the reticle up. I breathe and release.

It must've heard the bow fire because it looked in our direction, giggled, then disappeared.

An icicle pierced my lower back, the blizzrobe is behind us.

"Arrug" (Link)

It did 100 points of damage!

"Link!" (Shornia)

Shronia readied herself and prepared for battle, she stood over me like a mother ready to die for her child. The icicle helped clot the wound, so I won't be bleeding out anytime soon.

The blizzrobe started clapping.

"Wonderful, just wonderful" (Blizzrobe)

It can speak! Can every monster speak?

"You survived my attack, congratulations" (Blizzrobe)

Shronia went on the offensive. Her fire affinity is perfect for this fight. I readied my bow for an opportunity.

Shronia slashed with her daggers creating beams of fire, the blizzrobe avoided the attacks and teleported behind her. It tried firing an icicle but Shronia did a backflip, while in the air she sent a flaming cross towards the blizzrobe. As she needs it one hit.

The blizzrobe summoned an ice chuchu to take the blow. When the flames collided with the chuchu, a misty screen was created. Using this as cover, Shronia stabbed the blizzrobe with her flame daggers.

Except it wasn't it, the blizzrobe made a copy of itself and Shronia attacked the copy.

The blizzrobe is behind Shronia at point-blank range ready to kill her.

"Remember me" (Link)

It was distracted on Shronia probably because she is the biggest threat. I used that opportunity and shot the blizzrobe.

It didn't have time to laugh as it died.

It dropped the blizzard staff and the star fragment. After the blizzrobe died, the icicle disappeared too. I started to bleed, slowly my health started to drop.

Shronia picked the goods and ran over to me.

"Link!" (Shronia)

She started examining my wound. I teleported us to the tech lab.

We started banging on the door. A cranky Purah yelled from the second story.

"Do you know what time it is! Come back in the morning!" (Purah)

"Purah! We need your help!" (Shronia)

"Shronia?" (Purah)

Running down the flight of stairs, she saw my bloody shirt.

"Link, don't die!" (Purah)

"I just need a health potion or elixir, whatever you have in stock" (Link)

"You're still alive! Hurry, come with me" (Purah)

She's exaggerating a bit. We went to the storage room where the medicinal goods are located. My blood dripped all over the floor.

"Hurry, drink up" (Purah)

"Thank you" (Link)

I drank the elixir but it only restored 10 health points.

"What! The wound hasn't closed! Here, this is our most expensive health elixir! DRINK!" (Purah)

"Purah, please calm down" (Link)

I took the elixir and chugged it down.

"CALM DOWN! You're dying Link, you're not invincible!" (Purah)

She's right. This elixir definitely is better but it only recovered 50 health points. The wound shrunk. I might be recovering health, but if this bleeding won't stop, it doesn't matter.

"That's still not enough! Drink everything!" (Purah)

"No, he'll have an overdose, then he'll die" (Shronia)

Overdose, that's new. Could I get high from elixirs?

"If we don't do something, he'll die from blood loss!" (Purah)

"How about stitches?" (Link)

"Stitches?" (Shronia and Purah)

Now that I think about it, do they even have doctors in this world? I think they rely on healing potions and elixirs too much.

"Yeah, just sow me back together" (Link)

"He's lost too much blood that he's becoming delusional" (Shronia)

"Help Link into my bed, I'll ask if anyone has a fairy" (Purah)

"How about bandages, do you have bandages?" (Link)

"Yes, bandages. Come follow me, you're going to rest now" (Shronia)

I sighed. I started tearing some clothing apart to wrap around my wound. I lifted my bloody shirt off, my ripped body in full view. They tried to avert their eyes.

"Shronia, hold here, Purah can you help out" (Link)

Shronia kept the makeshift bandages in place as Purah tightly wrapped more of them around me. This should be fine for now, I'll let my body digest the medicine before ingesting any more.

"The bleeding has stopped!" (Purah)

"Link, you're a genius!" (Shronia)

If you had a magic medicine that heals in an instant, bandages would have never been invented.

"Thank you" (Link)

I took a step forward and wobbled.

"Link, don't force yourself?" (Shronia)

I lost quite a bit of blood.

"I'm just a little dizzy, Purah can I really use your bed?" (Link)

"Of course, anything for Linky" (Purah)

Shronia guided me to the bedroom, that was quite the peril.
