Laser Tag Part 1

The class ended with the students having to feel the intense pressure. If an Apostle without a Disciple dies, the balance between the humans and Stained Souls would be tipped.

And humanity would lose the war.

"How about let's release some tension?" Sofia suggested.

"Yes," a female voice said from behind the group. "How about we do the thing we planned?"

"Not now Margaux," Rain said and was about to walk when Margaux talked again.

"Are you scared, Rain?" She was purposely making Rain angry. "Are you still scared because you'll lose?"

"He hates losing, right?" a boy from Margaux's group asked. She nodded and flipped her hair.

Margaux Chan was the childhood friend of Rain. They were inseparable when they were young, but Margaux's power made her forget all about the boy. She started hanging out with children from stronger families and often flaked out on Rain.

When Rain challenged Margaux in a duel, he lost. His family's trust in him dwindled since then. It was then that his younger brother became the heir to their family. Since then, he was an outcast.

Like a rain, he was unwanted. He could only give sorrow and despair to people.

Sofia smiled at Rain, "We're willing to fight. If you're with us, that is."

Rain looked at his other teammates and saw the similar determination in their faces. He was happy that his teammates believed in him but he wasn't sure if he could trust himself.

"I'm sorry guys," he said with a sad smile. "I'll sit this one out."

Rain left the others and walked back to his dorm room. There, he released all his feelings. All his horrible memories came flooding back.

Meanwhile, Margaux and her team were laughing. "How cute," another girl from Team Maxime said. She had her hair tied to a ponytail with a big blue ribbon on it.

"I guess Team Maxime won this, huh?" the girl said.

Devin shook his head that surprised the others. "No. We will fight. But we need more time."

"You have 30 minutes," the boy from before said.

When they were about to walk away, Margaux called them.

She clicked her tongue and plainly said, "Prepare 8 members, by the way. Someone wants to be in our team."

"But we don't–"

"So, you lost?" the girl with the ribbon, whose name was Jessica said. "That's the only way to put it."

"We will find two replacements," Devin said.

"Good," Margaux said before walking away. Her team was behind her.

One person on her group paused and glanced at Team Lea who was also walking away. He wore a hooded jacket over his uniform, and no one seemed to mind it. His hair was blonde that was cut short. His ocean blue eyes fixated on Devin.

"What interesting fellow," he said with a smirk and followed his teammates.

Devin was panicking. The thirty minutes Margaux gave them was almost up and they still lacked 2 members for their laser gun team.

"What if we just give up?" Kagura asked.

"Agreed. We've been here for twenty minutes and no one wants to play with us," Rodney said and sat in one of the benches.

They were outside the arcade, standing and asking random people to at least go inside the field. The group was desperate.

"A little birdy told us…" a male voice sounded from behind them.

"That our Little Curls needs help," another one said.

"T-Ten and Eleven," Rodney stuttered before bowing. "What brings you here, sirs?"

"Don't do that," Andrew said, looking around and hid his reddening face.

"You make us look like bullies," Andrei pouted.

"I'm sorry sir," Rodney said and bowed again.

"Well?" the twins asked and grinned. "Let's play this game!"

Margaux and her team were already inside when they got to the counter. The girl behind the counter led them to their gears and told them the room Team Maxime was on.

"What a cheat," Andrei deadpanned. "They got inside first just so that they could prepare."

"Losers," was all Andrew said.

They discussed their plan on how to win the game. The twins could feel an immense aura inside the room.

The first years went inside first before they looked at each other.

"A Licensed Exorcist is inside," Andrew said.

"I know," Andrei said and grinned. "A-Class, maybe?"

Andrew agreed before they went inside.

The room was dark. The only lights were the white LED lines on the wall and the obstacles. Their outfit wasn't changed from their school uniform. The uniform was durable since it was similar to what Exorcists wore when they hunt.

A vest that had a blue glowing circle was the only gear they wore. Along with their laser guns, they were all set.

"The game will start in 3…"

The team started to form their position.

"2…"

The twins disappeared in a flash.

"1."

Their vests lit up, signaling that the game had started.

As expected, there were two people from the tower. They shot Devin's team, their group was running away and took cover nearby wall.

The rules of the laser tag weren't much different from the laser tag of the world outside. Two teams must shoot the mark of the enemy team's members. The first team who loses all members, will lose the game.

The only difference between their game and the game outside was that they could use their supernatural strength and their Sanctity.

Team Lea's plan of attack wasn't complicated. Adonis would spot target from a tower since his talents lies on long-range. The twins would use their speed to explore the area and knock out as much enemies as they could and would come and report back to the group.

In the front were Kagura and Rodney, Sofia was in the middle, while Devin and Yuri were on the rear. There was silence for the first few minutes until the announcer spoke.

"A member of Team Maxime has been eliminated."

Adonis breathed out after hitting the mark of an enemy. He hid his Sanctity from the others, which he felt bad for. His ability was called All Seeing Eye. If mastered, his eyes could see from 300-degree angle without turning his head with a range of 200 meters. His vision would also be three times brighter than a regular person in the dark.

A Sanctity like Adonis' required skill and mastering. For now, his vision could only rotate to 145 degrees and reach 50 meters. He was still practicing until he could become the ultimate assassin.

"That must be Adonis," Kagura said and continued surveying for enemies.

A red light was shot from nowhere. Soon, several more shots were fired that almost hit Devin. He ducked and ran behind a wall. The others did the same thing too, waiting for the enemies to get nearer.

The group was separated into two, Devin was with Sofia and Yuri while the other team was composed of Kagura and Rodney. The duo crouched and walked around the wall they hid in to corner the approaching enemies.

"This is so scary," Devin whispered. Sofia saw the shaking in Devin's hand that she instantly used her Sanctity to calm the boy down. Yuri meanwhile was grinning. He started to turn to violence as a coping mechanism after he lost his father.

His family was against it at first, but he was only violent to Stained Souls. Even when he turns into a scared puppy when he hears a siren, his almost psychotic behavior was not to be overlooked.

Yuri ran and slid towards the opening and started shooting mercilessly even when he still didn't know where the enemies were. He started to cackle when he hit one. The other jumped over a wall and ran away.

"A member of Team Maxime has been eliminated."

Yuri's laugh gave their location away. Margaux's teammates started to reposition and surrounded the enemy. She was commanding her team even when someone much stronger was with them.

"You are our trump card," she said. "Those fools do not stand a chance even when all of them face against–"

"A member of Team Maxime has been eliminated."

"A member of Team Maxime has been eliminated."

"That must be them," the hooded boy said before disappearing. Margaux was surprised when his trump card didn't follow her plan.

"That idiot," she angrily said and went on her own. "I'll show everyone here who Margaux Chan really is."

Her teammates were being eliminated one by one. And her last hope went rogue. If she didn't act now, she would lose. Her lost will be humiliate her for the rest of her life.

"I can't let that happen."

Margaux breathed deeply and felt her surroundings. Her Sanctity was Heat Detection. She could feel any heat that is around her within a 20-meter radius.

"Gotcha," she said and sneaked to a nearby tower.

As a trained student, Margaux's footsteps were faint. When facing against an enemy, sneaking would be her strongest weapon. Her thin body complemented her fighting style well enough that she could par an average Licensed Exorcist.

"Hello, tall freak," she said before shooting an enemy in the back.

The other members were shocked after hearing the announcement.

"A member of Team Lea has been eliminated."
