"A member of Team Lea has been eliminated."
Everyone was quick on their guard. An enemy took down one of their teammates.
Devin quickly looked at the tower Adonis was on and saw a grinning Margaux. She was glaring at Devin and went down.
Just when they thought they were getting the upper hand, something like this happens.
"She saw us," Devin said. The others nodded and agreed to meet up with the twins so that they could regroup. The moment they saw Margaux alone was the sign that she failed to hold her group together.
It means that all her teammates are scattered around the arena. They couldn't just rely on the twins, afraid that they might get cornered or ambushed.
Rodney fired in the air three times. It was their signal that meant that the group would go to the nearest tower from where the signal was given. The twins saw it and headed to the group.
Meanwhile, the blonde boy was dashing towards the direction two of his teammates went to. He knew the twins took them out since those two were not weak. Like Margaux, they came from a well-known Exorcist family.
"There you are," he said to himself when he saw the twins walking and looking around. His Sanctity was called Lurk. He could erase his presence and strike his enemies from nowhere. All he needed to do was calm his heartbeat or else his Sanctity's effect would disappear.
"Lurk," he said, his body slowly turned invisible.
He followed the twins and decided to shoot them when they were regrouping. It was obvious for him that the signal meant to regroup. With his Lurk, he was a few feet away from the twins as the two walked towards their teammates.
He was smirking, thinking that he was fooling the twins. His smirk was wiped off his face when the twins disappeared from in front of him and appeared beside him.
"Been a long time," Andrei said with a smirk. He and his brother hung their arms around the blonde's neck. When his heartbeat went faster, his ability wore off, revealing him completely.
"We've always wondered why there was a heavy pressure here," Andrew said and knocked the hood of the boy. "Morris Von Schweitzer."
"How's your older brother?" Andrei asked and pointed his gun at Morris's vest. Andrew followed him and they both grinned.
"Tell him we said 'hi'," was all Andrew said before shooting at the boy's vest.
"A member of Team Maxime has been eliminated."
Morris Von Schweitzer was a second year and the younger brother of Maxime. When his father, a prominent figure in the Union, moved to Cambodia, he and his older brother was transferred to the Asian Branch and where they continued their studies.
They were one of the students who were already considered as Licensed Exorcists with power level alone.
He was gripping his gun tightly as the light of his vest was gone and the smell of defeat wafted in the air. Being defeated was bad but he knew the two were way out his league. When Morris was about to push the twins away, they both smiled at him.
"Your Lurk is still so awesome," Andrew complemented and removed his arm off the boy.
Andrei followed and nodded, "You're invisible but your huge aura is bothersome. Try to hide it."
"Conceal it more." A voice said from in front of them. Devin said and smiled.
His face instantly blushed when he realized that he was thinking out loud. "I'm sorry."
Morris narrowed his eyes when Devin was approaching. Something was with him that a normal student couldn't see.
Before his staring got too intense, the twins patted his shoulder and placed a finger on their lips.
So, they knew? Morris thought before shaking his head. If there was something fishy going on, he knew the Union had something to do with it. They held more secrets than any organization in the world, after all.
Minutes have passed and the two remaining members of Team Maxime were eliminated. Margaux was beyond angry at this point. How could they? Mere students who weren't even recognized by the Union beat her team of Elites?
Little did she know that the Team Lea had the two best students of the campus.
She was crouching behind a tower when she felt a surge of terrifying aura inside the room. Her knees began to wobble when she felt the aura getting near her.
"Don't come near me!" she yelled and ran. The aura was following her until she collided with an enemy. She didn't hesitate to shoot Rodney and Kagura.
Team Lea separated their group to survey the room faster. Rodney was with Kagura, Sofia was with Yuri, and Devin was with the twins.
"What happened to you?" Kagura asked after seeing a scared Margaux.
"T-There's a monster," Margaux said. She fell to her knees, feeling the irking dark aura near her. It was like there was a surge of ants crawling over her skin.
"A monster? You mean a Stained Soul–"
"No!" Margaux yelled, cutting Kagura of what she was about to say. "A monster."
When the two didn't understood, she pushed them and ran towards the exit. What she felt wasn't something that she felt before. The aura made her thought of Stained Souls as kittens…
And the monster was a giant tiger.
"The remaining player of Team Maxime left the arena. Team Lea won the match!"
Kagura and Rodney scoured the area to find their teammates and told them about what Margaux said.
"There was no monster here," Andrew said.
"We can assure that," Andrei added.
The twins were already Licensed Exorcists and were bearers of Apostles. It was impossible for the monster to slip past their senses.
"Maybe she was only using it as an excuse because she was about to lose," Adonis said. The others laughed, remembering when he was ranting because he had to wait for half an hour for them to finish.
"Aw, cheer up big guy," Yuri grinned. "Let's go buy ice cream!"
The others shook what Margaux said away, thinking Adonis was right. She was about to lose so she had to make an excuse somehow, right?
Kagura wasn't buying it though. There must be something inside the arena that wasn't right. She knew Margaux's fear was real. The despair in her eyes, the trembling of her body.
Besides, if she really wanted to leave, she could use an excuse like what she did the day before.
Somehow, Kagura's gaze landed on Devin. She remembered that Morris also knew something about the curly haired boy.
Shoving the thoughts away, she enjoyed the afternoon with her friends. Investigating her friend just because of a mere suspicion was preposterous.
But something inside her tells her that she should.
"That was awesome," Andrew said. "Your friends are fun."
Andrei nodded and dropped Devin off his apartment room. Devin's eyebrows met in confusion when the twins just stood there even after he opened the door.
"Aren't you gonna go in?" Devin asked.
The twins looked at each other and grinned. They didn't waste time and got inside where they sat on the sofa and, as usual, acted like they were at home.
"I shouldn't have asked that." Devin shook his head and entered. This was the normal thing for now. Even when the twins are annoying him sometimes, they provided him company. Revelation was good but the twins' presence was different. He wasn't alone anymore.
Now, he had two older brothers.
