Chapter 4
It's been three days since I last talked to Louise, I've returned to working at the Von Heimburg estate completing my daily duties as per usual. I've been waiting for Louise to contact me about the 'combat training' but I have yet been notified of anything. How was I going to be taught? When? And where? A ceaseless amount of questions rattled my head until a hand touched my shoulder, " Sarah?" asked a voice I did not recognise. I span my head around immediately to see who the person was, but only saw one of Louise's personal maids. "The Young Madam wishes to see you." she said in a monotone voice, stripped of any emotion. I nodded my head slowly, trying to read her expression, but just like her voice it was also a blank canvas. I followed the maid as she led me to Louise. The maid knocked on Lady Louise's bedroom door twice, "Come in," said Louise softly. Her maid moved to the side and waited outside the entrance ,near the door as she allowed me to walk into the room, shutting the door behind me.
"Good afternoon Young Madam, how may I assist you?" I asked while looking at her glistening purple eyes as I wore my best smile. "You can stop that," Louise smirked, "You can stop with the formalities when we are in private, it's a waste of time. And you know why I called for you, or have you already forgotten?" Louise looked at me skeptically, beginning to doubt my perfectly fine memory. I awkwardly laughed, "Haha- you're so funny…" Louise gave me a sharp look, she found nothing she said humorous as she was being completely serious. I straightened my posture and replied in all seriousness, " Young Miss, I remember everything said three days ago with extreme clarity." Pleased with my answer Louise's gaze softened, "good. Because training will begin tomorrow, Eliza will be training you in combat and poison synthesis." Without a moment to grasp what was being said Louise passed me a sheathed dagger, "Close combat training starts from 4am to 2pm and poison synthesis is from 3pm to 9pm. I've gotten one of my personal maids to cover all your duties so that you can focus on training." I was about to open my mouth to quickly protest against the long work hours but before I could Louise's violet eyes looked directly into mine, looking elegant and poised yet underneath the surface hid an immense killing intent that I didn't want to provoke. "Meet Eliza in the wine cellar at 4am sharp, I must warn you Eliza doesn't have much patience and will ensure you die a slow painful death if you arrive even a minute late. " Louise quickly opened the door and pushed me out of the room. The maid from before gave me a slight nod as she then walked into Louise's room, she gave me a nod that implied she knew more than she let on.
"That maid… seemed quite unusual..." I said to myself quietly as I walked back into the servants quarters preparing to get a good nights sleep so that I wake up on time.
To be continued…
