Do you ever wish you could go back? Just a month or so? Even if life still sucked back then. No way it could be this bad.
It would be so simple. Just ignore that faint ticking...
I wouldn't be here, where I am now.
To afraid to walk anywhere alone. Even with pepper spray.
Not even through the halls in school.
Which meant, sadly, I was stuck with Case.
Time for a flash back.
So there I was, walking through the halls, I hadn't noticed it yet, but the same guys from the other day were behind me.
I glanced behind me, and immediately walked faster upon seeing them.
They were slowly cornering me, walking on either side of myself.
By the time I realized it was pointless.
They were just so casual about it, I hadn't noticed....
Well shit.
I stopped walking and faced the three, my eyes darting to each one.
Everyone else had already gotten to class.
So I was alone in the hallway. Well, alone with these guys.
"Ok Sweetheart, your coming with us." Said one, getting right to the point as he grabbed my arm.
My other hand plunged toward my pocket, intending to take out my only weapon, pepper spray.
As I should have learned by now, it was not completely reliable,
My wrist was grabbed and he wrestled it from my grip.
He looked at me with amusement.
"Well that was bold." He smirked.
I was practically shaking, why me? Like seriously.
I was looking up at him helplessly, I hadn't even noticed Case coming in.
"Ok Mark that's enough." He said in a threatening tone.
Mark let go of me extremely quickly.
"Case. I'm sorry I was just-"
"Just what Mark?" Case pushed me behind himself and crossed his arms,
"T-Talking. We were just talking." He said quickly. He looked around just in time to see the doors slam, his friend having bolted.
"Uh huh. Now give her back the pepper spray." Case was having fun being in control.
Mark quickly held out the pepper spray to me. I took it quickly. Then hid back behind Case.
"Good. Now leave. And if you so much as speak to her again, I trust you know what will happen." He growled
Mark nodded. "Sorry Case." He said, then ran.
Case didn't waste time. He rolled up my sleeve and looked at my arm, he scowled seeing the bruise from where Mark had grabbed me.
"Are you ok?" He asked, looking at me.
I nodded. Not really sure what else to do.
"Good." He held my hand and walked quickly outside.
It was a mixture of shock and fear that kept me from protesting.
"Oh...you got a car.." was the first thing I said as he opened the door for me.
"I've had a car. I told you not to come to school." He said in a slightly angry tone.
"I got the text, Case."
"Why didn't you listen?" He asked
"Because I needed to come to school. I can't just skip school...." I mumbled.
"You should have. Dammit you have no idea who they were do you?" He snapped.
I clenched my fists. "Shut up."
"Do you?" He repeated.
"I wouldn't be in this mess if it weren't for you!" I yelled "this is all your FAULT!" I screamed,
He got quiet at that. Finally.
He drove me to my apartment. "I'm driving you to school tomorrow. And wherever else you need to go.." he mumbled.
"Thanks." I got out and slammed the door.
And that's the story of how I got my own bodyguard.
I think he felt really bad, he stopped being completely insufferable.
Don't get excited. He was still insufferable. Just not completely.
That was about four days ago.
If I would have ignored the ticking from inside that motorcycle....
But of course, then Case Woods would probably be blown up.
Why does it suck to do the right thing?
"Ok, tell me the plan again Princess." He ordered, back to the present.
"Case, I've said it at least ten times." I sighed,
We're talking about the plan in case any crazed Gang members showed up.
"Five actually. It takes seven to make a habit." He said as though he was the smartest person in the world,
"That's not even true." I groaned,
"It might be!" Case argued,
"Just...were almost to class..." I mumbled,
"But Princesssss.." he whined
"Just shut up." I walked into class.
He sat by me, 100% my bodyguard.
It wasn't as bad as I had thought it would be,
I might even go so far as to call him my friend.
So it was cool. I was teaching him how to ice skate. He was adorably terrible.
I don't know where he got so much money from, but he was kind of rich. He probably did a bunch of bank robbing or something. And he wouldn't let me pay for anything. Like, really anything. I swear I tried. He wouldn't let me.
Moving on,
The hardest thing had to be making sure Harley never knew.
It was really hard, because he was great at telling when I was lying.
And I don't think it the best idea to tell him I was hanging out with the the "Crazed Robber" everyday after school.
Speaking of that incident, I think I finally managed to make Case feel bad about it. I made sure to bring it up often.
I snapped back to reality, thanks to Case nudging me. The teacher was looking at me expectantly.
"Uh...w-what was the question?" I asked.
The class gave stifled laughs, I felt color rush to my cheeks.
"Are you paying attention?" She asked the question again.
Case was on his phone beside me, not a care in the world.
I ignored it and nodded quickly, bright red. "Y-Yes ma'am..."
"Then would you like to come to the board and solve the problem?" She smirked, obviously enjoying this.
I looked at the problem on the board and cringed. "Uh..."
Then a miracle happened. The fire alarm went off.
"Your welcome." Case mumbled as he stood and filled out of the room beside me.
"What do you mean?" I looked up at him,
"The fire alarm. I texted a friend." He said happily.
So I guess he hadn't been ignoring the situation.
"Aww, thanks," I said as we walked out.
He smiled widely. Probably because I very rarely showed any sort of thanks to him.
I was bitter.
"Can we leave?" He asked, looking at me once we got outside.
"No Case, you know your supposed to go back after fire alarms right?"
"But I'm bored..." He looked like a sad puppy.
"Do you remember the deal?" I crossed my arms.
He glared at the ground.
"Well?" I asked
"Yes.." he groaned,
"Right. Good. So, shut up." A mocking smirk spread across my face.
Case kept glaring at the ground,
If you were wondering about the deal, it clearly stated; As my bodyguard, he had to shut up when I asked him.
I was very clear that there was no way this would work unless I had that power.
I'm telling you, it came in handy.
After awhile we were led back inside, the end of math class had been cut and we were sent straight to Science.
Well, I was.
Since Case didn't have Science, and most likely wouldn't attend whatever class he did have, so he probably vandalized the school or something while I was in history. Lucky.
Let's skip the seemingly endless lecture, hmm?
I walked out of class,
"God, finally." Case groaned, standing outside the door.
I jumped about a foot in the air, "Dammit Case..." I said, trying to get my heartbeat back to normal.
He chuckled, "You gotta work on that Sky."
I rolled my eyes and walked over to his car,
Which I think deserves a description.
It was about the coolest car ever.
It was cherry red, with a strip of black running down the middle, the seats were black leather with red stitching.
It was a mustang convertible.
And Case drove it around like it was nothing.
I was kinda terrified of screwing it up.
My face must have been clouded in admiration,
"What?" He was actually confused.
"How much did that car cost?" I looked at him.
He shrugged. "I dunno."
"Your a spoiled little rich white boy." I decided,
He stopped walking. He looked like he was trying to decide how to respond.
"Well that's not exactly my fault is it?" He smirked
"Oh my God." I mumbled as I got in the car.
"Well it's not." He said. Smiling as he got in the drivers seat.
"Who are your parents anyways?" I asked.
"Trey and Courtney Woods." He said, like it was nothing.
It was.
"Wait...wait seriously?"
He rolled his eyes "Yes seriously." He turned the car on.
"How did I not know that? How does no one know that!?"
He shrugged, looking uninterested.
I looked out the window. The building was in view from the school parking lot.
You know, Courtney Industries. The giant penthouse was completely owned by them.
Courtney Industries also possessed the apartment I lived in, along with pretty much every other apartment in our town.
They were millionaires. Maybe billionaires....
Probably billionaires.
Looks like Case wasn't robbing banks.
I looked over at him.
"Does anybody know this?" I asked.
"No." His hands were tight on the steering wheel.
He was angry.
I wondered what kind of tragic past was behind all this....
