Run for the Hills

I laid back, smiling to myself. I knew that they'd been thrown off my trail and now may even believe I was dead, so I laid back and took one last drive around the city, looking at everything and just taking it all in. Lua soon joined me, poking her own head out the window and watching the city skylines. It was quite a beautiful city, and I loved watching all the colors, lights and sounds blend together as I would drive. I noticed a sign up ahead. It signaled what would soon be the exit us from the city, onto the highway. I turned my usual playlist on, with a blend of EDM with a ton of classic hits in between. Soon, we were out on the highway. I then remembered that automatic driving was a thing, so I turned that on and watched cars as the drive while petting Lua blissfully, the day slowly beginning to turn to night as we eventually left areas with many cars and replaced those cars with masses of trees and empty roads.

We kept driving, through the road with the music quietly going on in the background. I began to think of my next moves, seeing that there's no way I could just stay hidden for the rest of time. I wanted to expose these people for their crimes and I just needed to know how. I cracked open my laptop, hopping into the back of the RV, taking a seat on a beanbag chair. I began to type things in regarding government conspiracy theories. Specifically that of the one currently running. I was curious to see if there would be any information I could dig up to help me on my search.

Government. Government conspiracy theories. Secret government bases. Possible government base locations. I slammed the keyboard with as many buzzwords as two conspiracists' game of Scrabble before I finally managed to fish up a post on 4-Chan about where I was headed and a possible government facility held deep in the mountains that had been discovered by a hiker a few years prior.

I scratched my chin, scrolling through the document with a slight smile. After reading I took typed out another search using more specific words, that of which in regards to the secret facility mentioned prior. I didn't find much, apart from the article I had already found. Well, at least it was a start. I smiled and moved back up front, taking a seat beside Lua once again at the front of the car as it sped along.

It didn't take for us to eventually reach a point where we could see the oceans to our right and the mountains to our left. It truly was quite a beautiful sight, the chirping of seabirds and the slight breeze brushing past us as we drove along. The road was a very interesting pathway, with some flat areas and some areas sloping so much it was like you were on a really strange rollercoaster. But we were in a car, on the road. Not a roller coaster. Soon enough, I arrived to where I decided I was gonna set up shop for the evening. At that time it was about 2:00, so I parked the car at a nice little spot that overlooked a beach right beside the large, vast and mysterious oceans. I pulled a can of soda out from the fridge and prepared a sandwich for myself, getting some food for Lua out as well. Then, I used a small pull-out staircase along the side of the RV to hop on the roof, looking out at the ocean. Lua soon came up and joined me. I took a sip of my drink, Lua sitting in my lap. I looked out at the ocean and as I did I noticed a storm, far out in the distance and yet still slowly approaching. It seemed to be a large storm, one bringing thunder and lighting down, though from this distance the lighting was faint and the thunder was near enough silenced. For now, I had my own little slice of paradise. Though I knew it wouldn't last, I knew I could enjoy it while it was here. And that is what I planned to do.

I sat there quietly, stroking the Shiba Inu curled up on my lap. I was happy. Content with the world, the distant crashing of waves and chirping of seabirds calming me down. It was a nice change from what had been my life the last day or so. Everything felt like it was going so fast, and it was hard to even believe it was just yesterday night my life was thrown into a complete spiral of chaotic events. It felt almost like that of a dream, though a quite surreal one, where I could just pinch myself and then wake up. I tried, knowing that I had the night prior, but came with the same result.

I finally finished my sandwich and then took one final sip of my drink before looking out at the horizon. I looked down at Lua.

"Care for a walk on the beach?" I asked the dog, who lifted their head to look up and over at me.

"Oh, sure!" She replied, hopping out of my lap, beginning to make her way off the roof of the RV.

We both got off and slowly made our way down a wooden pathway to the beach, where the waves crashed up along the sand. I cracked a stick off a dead tree and turned it into a makeshift walking stick, and we began to walk, starting quietly, both of us just listening to the waves splash onto the shore but finally Lua piped up.

"What's our plan, exactly?" Lua asked, before moving up in front of me to bark at some birds as the flew away.

"Well, I'm hoping that this article saying that there's a secret base hidden in these mountains is true, because if it is and we can find it, we can try to infiltrate it and steal some stuff for evidence that we can then use to take down these guys and expose them to the masses. That is my best plan, but we're definitely going to have to make some tweaks here and there based on what happens. It's pretty much all up to change. What really matters first though, is exploring. It's my next plan that we do it tomorrow. You and I are gonna go through the area to try and find any forms of secret bases and to gather as much info as we can."

"So we're like, spies now? Two spies with no organizations, just more or less two normal civilians trying to expose and evil government operations? Awesome!" Barks Lua, and I laugh.

"Pretty much. It's gonna be interesting how all of this goes down, but we both know that it's gonna be for a good cause. I'd rather die fighting than die just out here knowing that I could have done something to take a stand."

"So that's what we're gonna do, right?"

"Exactly. We're gonna go for an expedition around here, find their base, sneak in, find as much incriminar evidence as possible, and expose them. Not for the fame, not for the glory, but for the betterment of the rest of the world."
