Corpse Handler's Examination (Ch.122)

~The most savage controversies are about matters as to which there is no good evidence either way~

-Bertrand Russell

"How is it, what do you think?" Lord Gorm asked the corpse handler of the surma tribe anxiously.

The elderly man took another look at the body of deceased elder Pran, lifting the hand of the body up to his view, he squinted his eyes and turned the hand both ways before dropping it and picking up the other hand to perform a similar examination.

"Can you now tell the hour of death?" Lord Gorm pressed, the elderly corpse handler still did not respond, instead moving his examination up to the face of the corpse.

The elderly corpse handler lifted one of the deceased's eyelid, pulling the lamp he held closer to examine the rolled back eyeballs, once again, he repeated the action to the deceased's second eye before shaking his head.
