"I said hold still!", Mika yelled at her.
"I told you I could have done it by myself", Grace frowned.
"Well I know that but I CANNOT trust you with something this dangerous", Mika poked her head.
"It's just putting on makeup!", Grace yelled.
"And I'll poke this brush in your eye if you say another word", Mika twisted her eyebrows.
"You must be really excited about your date, right?", Grace smirked.
"N- no I'm not! And it's not a date! We're just going to hang out", Mika said hesitantly trying her best to hide her embarrassment.
"Oh yeah? Then what is this?", Grace pulled Mika's skirt. "It's from your 'very very very special day' collection"
"Oh shut up!", Grace pulled it back. "I just wanted to try it", she pouted.
"Yeah Yeah", Grace smirked. "And I'm guessing the fact that you have been up since six to get ready has nothing to do with the fact that you are going on a DATE with Noah?"
"I just woke up early! It's nothing weird!", Mika yelled in embarrassment.
"Yeah, the first time in five years even when you don't have any work to do; nothing weird about it", Grace giggled.
"Here you are done", Mika put up a mirror in front of Grace's face.
"Wow", her eyes sparkled. "But isn't it too much?"
"Please don't talk in these matters", Mika frowned.
"Thanks though", Grace giggled.
"You are very welcome", Mika picked up her sling bag.
"Got the keys?", Grace shouted from behind.
"Yep!"
"Your wallet?"
"yep!"
"The wallet with your cards, not the one you like to hold because it's fluffy?"
"YEAH!", Mika frowned as she was putting her shoes on.
"What about your phone?"
"Yeah yeah got it!"
"Hey wait!", Grace shouted.
"What-", as soon Mika turned around Grace jumped on her and hugged her tight.
"Have fun"
"You too", Mika giggled.
Grace stood on the balcony as she saw Mika hopping in Noah's car. Her smile spoke that she was happy for her.
All of a sudden, her phone buzzed.
-Hey Grace! Are you ready? –
- Yeah. But aren't we supposed to meet an hour after this? –
- Well that was the plan. But I figured that if we both are ready then why wait? –
- Haha that's true. Alright then! What's the new plan? –
- I'll be there in ten. Sounds cool –
- Perfect! See you then –
Grace giggled as she got off the phone. She was trying hard to not be too excited about this. But her boy was reacting in some other way. She was running around checking if she got everything. She ran to the kitchen twice to check the stove every time. As soon as was done with getting all her items in the white sling bag she was going to carry, she heard a car honking from downstairs. Following her intuitions, she rushed to the balcony to check out.
It was Nate. Leaning onto the car, looking charming as ever. He looked up and waved at Grace, who was just stunned for a moment by his looks. She waved back just in time to not embarrass herself.
She closed the door and rushed to put on her sandals. Mika was too strict about what Grace should be wearing so she left a pain outside and locked the shoe rack. Grace wasn't even surprised by it. This was just like any other day for her.
As soon as Grace stepped in front of Nate, his eyes were wide open. His urge to hold her and lock her up with him was going higher and higher. She was always adorable to him so he didn't expect this to happen. His insides were shouting, 'don't jump on her it's uncool! Don't be uncool! Don't be a creep! Don't ruin it! You are not a freak!'
"Nate? Nate!", Grace poked him.
"Yeah?", he flinched.
"What's wrong?", she looked at him with innocence.
"Nothing", he said calmly to get his act together. "You look beautiful", he said with the gentlest smile.
"Oh…", Grace blushed. "Thanks".
"Shall we get going?", Nate scoffed to her reaction.
"Yeah".
He walked first and opened up the door for her, "There you go".
"Thanks", Grace smiled as she got in. She looked around and noticed how clean everything was. There was this beautiful mid fragrance which made her more relaxed than she already was. 'It smells like him', she smiled at the thought.
"You alright?", Nate got in.
"Yeah', Grace was a bit surprised. "I see that you take good care of your car".
"Well yeah", he went over her to get her seat belt. "I have this urge of treasuring things I hold dear to", he buckled her up.
'Too close! Too close!', her head was alarming. "That's a nice thing", she whispered as blushed up.
Nate chuckled. Grace being an airhead could never guess he was doing in on purpose to tease her and he was in a mood to take full advantage of that.
As Nate was driving Grace couldn't take her eyes off him. She was looking too closely noticing his every move, without even knowing what she was doing.
"Umm Grace?", Nate smiled.
"Yeah- yeah?", she flinched coming back to reality.
"I respect that you admire me driving. But if you keep staring at me like that, I might crash somewhere", he smirked.
"OH! Sorry!", Grace quickly turned her eyes away.
"It's alright", he chuckled.
"By the way, where are we going?", Grace looked at the unfamiliar road.
"You'll know soon", Nate replied.
"Hmmm~ I don't like suspense", Grace pouted.
"But I saw your book collection, there were a lot of mystery-thrillers", he smirked.
"That's another thing!", she raised her voice in embarrassment.
"Is that so?", he started laughing.
"Yes, it is!", she blushed.
"Aren't you being too blushy-blushy?" Taking his teasing to a next level.
Now she was as red as tomato and Nate started to laugh at her innocent reaction. Hearing his laugh made Grace skip her heartbeat. His laugh felt sounds from heaven. As far as she knew, she has never heard anything so beautiful. Sure it was not a normal laugh, it was Nate's laugh that's why it was beautiful. She felt this weird calmness over her, that she would love to hear this sound again and again.
Most of the ride was just like simple talk about his and her childhood and they trying to know each other's histories. Soon Nate pulled off the car in front of a Mall. She looked at him with a raised brow and said, "Trust me, I don't have privileges to buy my own clothes, you sure you want my help?"
Nate made his world-famous puppy dog face, all the twinkles sparkling in his eyes were making Grace blind, so she said yes. They both went in and started shopping.
They first went to buy Nate a t-shirt, for which they went to five shops but Grace didn't found something pleasing to her eyes, although Nate was crying in the end because he literally loved this one white shirt, but, Grace said, "Isn't it too simple?"
And trying to maintain his reputation he left it, to which he had to keep a heavy heart. Now, this was their sixth store and Grace was determined to buy at least one tee here. She went to the men's section and started digging in rows. After like an hour she finally returned to very exhausted Nate. She was drenched with sweat and seemed like a soldier who just returned from the battlefield.
She held the tee in her hands behind her back, she smiled proudly and said, "I found it."
Nate was not surprised by the time she took, but he was surprised by the effort she put into it. How someone can put so much effort for someone else and moreover for what? A simple tee? Maybe only Grace can do that and it made him fall for her more.
Nate sighed at her girl's cute reaction and smiled really proudly saying, "Show me!" He sure was excited as he has waited for a complete hour for his surprise and she finally reviled what she chooses. It was a mud-coloured, winter sweatshirt which had a "My boo" written on it.
He instantly fell in love with the tee, he knew he never gonna wear it, but was sure he gonna frame it. Happiness was pouring out of his eyes, not because the tee was good, it actually didn't even match his style. But since his girl had put such hard work in it. It made him really proud and special.
Grace looked at him for an answer and he replied with, "Thank you so much, darling."
The suffix made Grace's stomach flutter. The butterflies were dancing in her stomach as he held her hand pulled her to the counter to bill the payment. As Nate was billing she saw some dress and her eyes were stuck on it. It was a beautiful floral peach dress and she watched as if she would love to have it. While she was standing there and was daydreaming about having that dress, the receptionist asked, "Ma'am, how would you like to pay?"
She looked here and there and Nate was nowhere to be found. She felt as if she hit a truck. She asked the receptionist, "The guy here, did you see where is he gone to?" The receptionist only shook her head, she felt pangs of pain in her heart. Her eyes filled with tears and she thought he left her. Being the strong girl Mika made her, she pulled out the card and gave it to the receptionist.
She packed the tee and handed it to her saying, "Have a good day ma'am" She started towards the exit without thinking anything but...
