Variables and a plot?

"So, what you are saying is, that you are from the future?"

"Yes"

"But you are still calling me an NPC?"

"Yes. You are an NPC that inherited a human's memories. Not an NPC, neither a human, a sort of irregularity in the game from a dying human's his soul… his information form as you might wish to call it."

There was silence in the room for a long time. Han Xiao, had a blank look in his eyes, a blank look that Luke was rather familiar with. It was the same look that Lucy had when he had rescued her. A look of confusion, regret, denial, and utter hopelessness.

In fact, this room was not the only place that was silent. The void above the world, had also fallen completely silent at the end of Luke's explanation.

The white fog, and blue fog had both stopped clashing, not because they had each been nearly stripped of their fog, but due to Luke's words.

"This…" the blue fog was stunned at how this 'chosen' knew about the exact situation of his own 'chosen'. And what was even more shocking was the fact that he said he came from the future, and had accurately predicted the future of his own 'chosen'.

On the other hand, the white fog, whose 'chosen' was Luke, was even more stunned. He had selected Luke since the system had been trying to get rid of him the moment his information form appeared in the void out of nowhere.

Naturally, why would he not make something the system was so keen on destroying his chosen?

However, who would have thought he was something like this! This was much more that he had bargained for. If things got out of hand, this sub-system he had been tussling with would call for back-up from other sub-systems and beat him up, or worse, complain to its mother, bringing the main system to completely erase him from existence!

"I need to stop him!" The being in the white fog decided.

The beings in fogs, had always been in conflict with the system. However, they too were reliant on it. They would fight the system, trying to slowly change it, but in the end, would never allow something to make it fully collapse. And such a being had actually been formed, and by his own hands at that!

[It is too late. He has already reached a level of existence where he had fully integrated with the information-state of the code. He cannot be directly erased by us anymore. Plus, he already knows about me being sentient. It won't take too long for this variable to fully grasp the situation.] The system, who had been eagerly watching the battle a few seconds ago, interjected with disgust, anger, rage bubbling in her tone.

[If you had not intervened, and allowed things to progress as they were supposed to, he would have died exactly 3 months ago, and everything would have worked out fine. But no~, you had to stick your variables into the mix and stir things into the mess it is now. Not only is he an error level variable, if he shares too much information with the other variable, that one will also become a super-high-risk level variable, just below the error level!]

"So? Now what? How do we deal with it?"

[Even the main system cannot do much to him directly. She has already given me instructions on what to do next. We need to set things on the right path once more. If everything is done correctly, he should be killed before the variable called 'Han Xiao' turns into a super-high-risk variable.]

"Alright"

"…"

Both the white fog and the blue fog expressed their agreement in varying ways, before listening to the plan that this sub-system, who seemed to knowledgeable for its rank 3 sub-system identity, had come up with.

Back in the room, Luke patiently ignored Han Xiao's dead-pan expression and opened the interface to send out his missions and make better use of his time.
