The Anticipated Return

"Pack up your stuff. Everyone will be celebrating your birthday. Don't worry about your release papers because I have already taken care of them," Old Man Takahashi giggled as he told me to pack my stuff.

"What about you? Won't you come with us?" I sadly questioned since celebrating this day is not only because of Xavier's birthday but also his release. Thinking back, during the past six years, I have served this prison as Xavier's alternate personality. Everything wouldn't be possible if it weren't for the assistance that Old Man Takahashi has given me all those times.

"Did you really think I would miss out on such an important occasion? Just pack your stuff because I have already made a reservation somewhere," Old Man Takahashi laughed so hard that everyone on the other side of the visitation room also laughed out loud.

"Figures, actually I dont have any stuff I brought in the past. However, there might be the outfit that I wore before I was brought here. Although I'm not sure if that outfit will still fit against my body though," I mumbled but, it seems that Old Man Takahashi heard what was running through my mind.

"Just get your stuff, No need to worry about anything cause I have already prepared your clothes," Old Man Takahashi really treats me well among the other prisoners. Maybe it's because my father is one of his friends, so he takes care of me every now and then.

Well, after packing up my stuff, one of the guards who once helped me back when I was still detained in the station was promoted. When I asked why he was promoted, he just answered that because of his good morals towards me. At first, he thought that when he was stationed in another station, he was being relocated to somewhere far away.

There are times that when they relocate someone, it somehow means that they are being fired or being retracted. However, it doesn't seem to be the latter, so he was thankful towards me and wished me good luck in the real world.

No idea what I might have done for him to be thankful towards me, but I just accepted his gratitude and also wished for his success in life.

"Hey, kid. Are you ready to go?" Old Man Takahashi suddenly appeared behind me after taking care of my release papers.

"Yah, I almost had a heart attack because of you. If everything is fine, then I am ready. However, where the hell do you plan on bringing me with this many people with us?" I asked since my curiosity is killing me.

"Sorry to burst your bubble, kid. However, you won't be able to squeeze anything from me," Old Man Takahashi likes to keep everything mysterious because he wants everything to be thrilling.

There seems to be no point in trying to make Old Man Takahashi answer.

"Alright, just answer this question. How the hell would you transport everyone?" I hastily questioned cause I have asked quite a number already since this morning.

"You have already known me for six years, and you still haven't to grasp how I manage things? It's your birthday today, so just chill and follow my commands because I'll show you the best day of your life," Old Man Takahashi told me to chill cause it's my birthday.

Correction though, it's not my birthday, actually. But Xavier is the one who should be celebrating right now. However, because of the current situation regarding our identity crisis, I act as Xavier's replacement.

When we all went outside, I was amazed by how everything looked in the morning. Since I was only created six years ago having no absolute chance to see the outside world. Although there was once when Old Man Takahashi brought me to their abandoned cottage.

'Xavier, if you can only see what I am looking at right now. I swear you'll be happy. So please, it has been six years since your last appearance. Benjiro Abe, the person that we helped to achieve their liberty, who was once a former psychiatrist informed me that your disappearance for those six years might be dangerous to your body as the main personality.'

"Hey, Xavier, what are you doing there looking so stunned? Have the six years in prison felt like an entire eternity?" Abe jokingly remarked but with a hint of sadness on his face.

Abe had never forgotten about my identity crisis. Although he tries to joke around, that guy cares for me like a real brother. Speaking of brother, if Xavier met his siblings after six years, would they finally be able to forget everything that happened in the past and learn to move on? Hopefully, after I'm gone. Xavier can finally live with freedom without having to fight for his life every time.

There is this saying that I heard from one of the inmates who were in utopia, the saying goes "Every cloud has a silver lining," Well, I hope that it's a fact.

One by one, everyone entered a black vehicle, then Old Man Takahashi pulled my hand cause I have never seen anything like this. Then Abe figured out what thought was in my mind. Abe immediately whispered to my ear what this black vehicle is and its functions. Although people with DID have their own knowledge about the world with only slight changes.

Our condition is the rarest there might be since Xavier created me out of nothing. His emptiness was my driving function, so only parts of his knowledge and memories have been transferred to me.

After traveling for about an hour and ten minutes, the van stopped in the venue of the celebration. Although it was not in the city but at a beach 66.5KM from the Osaka Detention Center. When I looked at the name of the beach, it was called Tan'nowa Tokimeki Beach. The view of the sea feels refreshing and slowly eases my mind from any problems.

"Hey, Kid, someone is waiting for you at the beach. Hurry and meet with them, I'll take care of your guests," Old Man Takahashi appealed and suggested.

Just followed his suggestion, then went to the beach only to find Xavier's boss and Augustine. From afar they started running towards me with tears slowly filling their eyes. Figures, since it has been six years since they last saw us. I dont know why but Xavier's boss hugged me so tight that it almost seems that she was trying to break my bones.

"Hey, Xavier. It has been a long time, you refused to accept visitors for the last six years. There's no need to tell us the reason but I'm just glad that you dont have to spend your entire 20s in that prison. You're already 24 years old, bro. Happy Birthday!" Augustine with a sense of satisfaction in his eyes greeted me with a Happy Birthday.

However, I'm well aware that the greetings aren't for me but for Xavier.

'Xavier, can you hear the cries of your friends? Even after I refused to accept their visitations for the past six years. They have never forgotten about you ever since trust and protect them once everything is alright. As for my opinion, there will never be a time when these people will betray you like how your half-siblings had broken you in the past.'

The three of us started to catch up with each other while the others were preparing for the party that Old Man Takahashi has prepared. Augustine has already graduated with a degree as a computer engineer while Xavier's boss has also graduated with a degree in psychology. Although, Xavier's boss still owns her convenience store franchise where Xavier worked in the past.

After minutes of catching up with each other. Old Man Takahashi finally finished with their preparation, and everyone started to enjoy the day. And then I slowly walked away from them and looked at them with their smiles. It was hard to even remember that some of those people were also inmates in the past because you can't even see the sorrow in their eyes anymore.

The sun is about to set, so I went to a place with a huge boulder where I can sit on the top and observe the beauty of the sunset.

However, before I even reached the boulder someone suddenly struck my head that leads to my unconscious state. When I looked at my surroundings, I was shocked since I was brought in the back of a car meters away from the beach where we are celebrating. The drivers of the car were masked and chatter between themselves although it's indistinct.

Trying to find a way to escape this misery, I saw a gun right below my feet. Thankfully, the masked men didn't seem to notice, my hands were tied but it was not tight enough, so I was able to slowly picked up the gun and inspected if it's ready to be used.

I fired the gun first at the driver not aiming at his head because it might lead to his death. So I aimed at his arms in which it would make him unable to drive further. As the driver loses control, the car stopped and I hurriedly jumped outside hoping to escape the masked men.

However, as I was running away, one of the masked men fired at my leg in which prevented me to run and I fell. I tried crawling but the wound from the gunshot hurts like hell that I wasn't able to continue any further. When I took a short glance behind, I saw that the masked man was running towards me. Because of my blurry mind, I shot him although I dont know where I aimed.

With a little push, I was able to force myself to walk after tying up my wound tight. While I limp and slowly struggles to walk away, I heard one of the masked men's phone ringed. I picked it up and answered the phone. Although it seems that the voice is somehow familiar, Xavier has slowly awakened from his sleep. After hearing this certain phrase from the caller.

"Hey, have you already killed him? Don't bother letting him live. I can't claim his rights if he still lives,"

(Get out of my body)

'Xavier, is that really you?'

I followed his orders and now Xavier came back and was finally the one in control with his body.

"Bastard, how did you know that I will be released today? Well, that ain't important. You didn't forget what I told you on that day right?" Xavier provoked him and his presence was telling me that something has changed in the last six years that Xavier was gone.

"I'll kill you bastard; don't even think that you'll still be alive by tomorrow." He shouted at the phone while fuming with anger.

'It seems that the one talking on the phone was his half-brother that's why he was fuming with anger.'

"I'll be looking forward to that; you ain't scaring no one, my beloved step-brother." Xavier stomped on the phone and smashed it to bits.

'Xavier, are you really okay now?'

Although I try to communicate with Xavier. It seems that the wound from the gunshot his body received started to take a toll on his mind.

Before being completely unconscious, a car passed by and immediately carried us in her car.
