Meeting the other Princesses wasn't so bad until Lacey came up to her. Lacey looked her up and down as she did the same seeing that sure enough she looked exactly like Lucy which is unique since Lucy is beyond beautiful and now, she see's why Tessa is head over heels.
"My sister isn't lucky enough to have a girl like you, hell you probably don't even know her age." Lacey said in royalty voice.
"Age isn't equivalent to brains that you don't have. You best be on your behavior this time because King Xavier is still pissed off at you for interrupting our day to get today set up." Laila replied in a vile voice.
Lacey walked off while pushing her hair back as Larkin came up behind her saying,
"Unfortunately, I am stuck with that bitch since Tessa made demand that you and Lucy are sleeping in a cot together, that you are banned from using rooms in the upstairs."
Laila looked at Larkin shocked, she knew Tessa could be cruel but that is taking it way to far. Desiring Tessa has now become a battle of winning her approval once again but she knew Lucy had it right that Tessa is in way over her head on everything. Lucy ran up to her and Larkin out of breath.
"Laila, I got word that you are in the Cabinet with us, Tessa is fuming that you are still at fault for making Lacey leave, and I am sure you explained to her that it was me." Lucy said.
"I have most definitely explained to Tessa that it was you at the time but she is in denial that I have betrayed her, I would never betray anyone but this girl is all up in believing that." Laila explained.
"I am opposing you want me to try, and explain to her?" Lucy replied.
"I wouldn't worry to much, I mean what is Tessa going to do? Go tell King Xavier that I have squealed on her." Laila responded.
"You are right, meet me before dusk at the water fountain." Lucy said to Laila.
"Yes, of course, see you then." Laila replied to Lucy.
Lucy went off to go do what she had too for Princess Kristy since that is who King Xavier assigned her too. Laila had no Princess assigned to her even though she asked the King politely, he still declined. She wasn't worthy to the King and Queen due to being a past Angel, they won't even adopt her as a daughter until she could go back home in Ruitha.
Laila has to find a way to get her life in order on earth because she has no idea when or how, she will return home. Laila went to the Cabinet in search for some answers in the books that the other maids kept around. Nothing really stuck out to her, so she went to find some food, and she found a apricot with grapes along with a water.
She found a cot to sit on then ate the food while sipping the water. After a while King Xavier found Laila napping as he cleared his throat out loud.
"Laila Kingston, you are needed down in the dining hall to help serve food. You are with Maid Jinger Stilton since you and Lucy can't stay away from each other. Tessa and Lacey are to be next to each other this evening in plate settings because they are making a surprise announcement." King Xavier thoroughly explained.
Laila sat up as she rubbed her eyes listening to King Xavier then made her way to the dining hall to find Jinger, she really didn't want to be serving with Tessa and Lacey, also dealing with Jinger's jealousy over her and Lucy.
"Laila, let's go, King and Queen are impatiently waiting to be served." Jinger complained.
Laila grabbed her apron from the back, quickly tying it on, and grabbed serving trays with ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, corn, and along with anything else the cooks have them bring out. It wasn't Thanksgiving or any special occasion it is just what was in order for today that the King and Queen agreed on.
They all finished eating as Tessa stood up clinking her glass of wine three times with a clear of her throat.
"I have a announcement to make to all my lovely family and friends. Yesterday, after daddy scared off Lacey in which she did eventually come back in the middle of the night before coming back in the next morning. In the privacy of this castle, I am happy to announcement my engagement to Princess Lacey of Kingdom Griffon. Our wedding is yet to be announced but we are working on that. That is what I wanted to tell you all, enjoy your dessert. Lacey, let's go upstairs and enjoy a book together." Tessa said.
Lacey and Tessa left the room in silence leaving her parents without a word. All things that have failed Tessa has ruined everything by engaging Lacey instead of Larkin this is a big disaster, and he is beyond mad that he tugged Laila out of the dining hall.
"Did you know about this? Tessa is unnerving at times but this is unacceptable. I am her future King not that dimwitted Princess. Laila, this has to be changed. You won't let this happen, you can't." Larkin complained.
"I didn't know about a engagement between the two, Tessa told me that she loved her more than you, and she didn't care if no one approved. She knew no one would approve that is why she did it. I am sorry, Larkin, truly I am. I can't fix this it is up to Tessa to do what is right. I am stuck as a human until she realizes that she is destined to be with you." Laila explained.
Larkin punched the wall behind Laila then their eyes met once again as his breathing became close to her though she touched his chest feeling how light he is against her. Laila hitched her breath as Larkin got in closer to her with barely touching their lips, Larkin backed away.
"Sorry, that is to close for either of us." Larkin said in a shy voice while turning a deep rosy.
"It is okay." Laila touched his cheek as he flinched then walked away without another word.
Laila wasn't sure what was going on between her and Larkin but she knew she had to get it under control because she still likes Lucy too.
