Chapter 11

After a whole day Natalie finally arrived in Texas then had to call another driver to come get her and take her out to the backwoods of Amber's luckily the driver knew who she was and had heard that she hasn't come out of her home since Natalie left, it tore Natalie up badly to imagine what could have torn Amber apart so badly that she wouldn't come out of her home. Natalie grabbed her cell phone out of her purse and dialed Amber's home number with three rings Sheila answered again.

"Does Amber know I am coming? I am on my way." Natalie said urgently.

"Amber hasn't come out of her room, I have been doing all the house chores but the house is unlocked and you can come on by." Sheila replied in her accent.

"Great, be there very soon in about an hour at most according to the driver." Natalie responded then hung up.

Natalie didn't like this about Amber being cooped up in her room for what reason? It isn't Sarah's death date? No, it couldn't be that is still a month or two away. As far as she knew anyhow, Natalie just knew that she had to get to Amber and see what was wrong. This is unlike her to not answer her phone or anything. Panic began rising in her when she couldn't figure out for the life of her what could be wrong with Amber.

Reaching Amber's house, the driver pulled up to the front of the house as Natalie ran out of the car into the house as Sheila opened the door. Natalie ran from the kitchen to the living room, and then up a flight of stairs to find Amber standing in the hallway looking directly at Natalie but not actually looking at Natalie. Natalie watched Amber walk back to her bedroom and then slammed it shut. Startling Natalie, she walked the rest of the way to Amber's room then slightly opened it when Amber slammed it in her face and locked the door.

"Amber, please, let me in. Let's talk." Natalie said softly into the door.

"Sarah, you know our lives have changed and you are dead, nothing will ever be the same." Amber replied through the door.

"Amber, this is Natalie not Sarah. Sarah is gone, Sarah is...away with her own happiness." Natalie responded smoothly to ease Amber.

"Nat--Natalie, is that really you?" Amber replied with stutter.

"Yes, Amber it is me. I came back for you. I tried calling to tell you I was coming back but you never answered the phone, only Sheila did." Natalie responded.

Natalie stood their waiting for Amber to open the door but it didn't happen. Natalie hung her head then went back downstairs to find Sheila who seemed consumed in her own world.

"She isn't budging, I think Amber may need some help and I have no idea what history is with Sarah but she is gone." Natalie said to Sheila.

"She doesn't need therapy of any sort, Amber needs someone to be with her when her mind goes into memories of that bitch. I have always hated her and once she died I was happy while Amber went hiding from everyone including that family. I have no idea what Amber saw in that stuck up family or Sarah herself but I would have never treated her that way." Sheila replied venting away.

"I get it Sheila but Amber obviously loved her enough to have married her." Natalie responded biting her lip knowing that is probably the wrong thing to say but someone had too.

"Sarah mentally abused Amber and they did get physical a few times. It wasn't a perfect love but Amber stuck it out because she loved Sarah." Sheila replied, still drinking the liquor.

Natalie didn't understand how anyone could stay in a relationship like that though she was no better with her soon to be ex-husband. It took all Natalie could handle the fact that Amber isn't coming out of her room. The whole reason she came to Texas to be with Amber not see her hiding because of Sarah though she hoped Amber would come out eventually.

"When she is like this, does she come out of her room?" Natalie asked.

Sheila laughed drunkenly knowing that isn't a good sign.

"Amber will never change when it comes to Sarah even if she is dead. Sarah's ghost must still be floating around the property or else Amber would be handling day to day stuff." Sheila responded.

"I thought once people pass over they don't come back to earth. This seems impossible." Natalie replied.

"She can see ghosts always for a long time including lost family members. The only wish Sarah had for Amber is to move on and be happy with someone to actually love her and not mourn over her too long. For a bitch who hated my best friend, that is a shocking statement." Sheila responded.

"Fucking wonderful, so she is haunted by her past until she becomes happy again. That seems nearly impossible with her avoiding me, I came here to be with her and she is now held up in her room. Fucking hell!" Natalie yelled into the air.

"Could be worse, you and Amber being together while Sarah is still alive. That would be a messy situation." Sheila responded chuckling.

Natalie couldn't hear anymore as she stormed back upstairs and pounded on Amber's bedroom door begging her to open up. It was enough that Natalie wore herself out by crying and staying by the door without moving as she reached underneath to feel Amber's hand at least. She couldn't see Amber through the lower part of the door but she could hear Amber crying as much as she was.

"I am here for you, Amber, always." Natalie whispered.

Natalie wasn't leaving this woman's house until they were back in each other's arms whether it meant fighting for a day or months, Natalie wasn't going to up and leave Amber when she needed someone the most. Yes, it hurt to find out that Sarah was abusive mentally and physically though when you love someone, it doesn't matter, you truly love them no matter the case. Even for a city woman that is going through hell, she would be by Amber through thick and thin, she also knew Sheila would be too.
