Chapter 27

I had watched as Sheila got up for work and went to go check on Dana to let her know that she also had to get their day going. I went to check on Natalie as she was still fast asleep in our bed. I went back downstairs drinking more coffee as I heard everyone hustling around. The kids were happy to see that I was still there and wanted to bond more after their school day. Sheila came to give me a hug and said that they would all talk more when the kids are in bed to gather up a plan.

Natalie ended up sleeping a good chunk of the morning away. She always looked beautiful when her long curly red hair would fall to her lower back and it wouldn't be messy. Her kisses always made my morning. Natalie knew how to make me smile. We made a light discussion of the day and it turns out we were stuck until they came home so the silence made it a little challenging. I went to scour for Sheila's computer to find out if one of my works has made any readers and Natalie, I caught her snooping Sheila's books for something to read, I couldn't help but grin seeing her pick up a well known book in the world which is Love Over Coffee. Making my way into Sheila's office, I found her laptop left on and password beside it. Once, I got situated and found my way to one of my works. It made me smile that I haven't failed my readers as most were waiting on an update but that would be waiting a while. I heard Natalie giggling downstairs reading the book and as I went down their I found her smiling as she read each page.

"I was really hoping you wouldn't read that one." I said to Natalie with a grin.

"Oh, um, the title drew me in." Natalie replied, biting her lip.

I knew then we were both done for because when she bit her lip it meant she saw something more juicy than her eyes could handle.

"Sheila is known for that. That book is full of it too." I said, sitting beside her reading to where she left off and I shook my head.

"I have never read yours so I wouldn't know but Sheila has won me over. I am going to keep reading then leave a review in the book on paper, of course." Natalie replied as she waved me off.

I had no idea what to do with myself at this point since I am usually taking care of my babies though Sheila and Dana had a cat around the house it wasn't the most friendly one to either of us. We weren't properly introduced to the cat either, so we left it alone and kept to ourselves. I made lunch while Natalie still devoured the book and didn't dare look up from it. Everyone came back about four in the evening and Sheila dragged me upstairs with embarrassment of Natalie reading her book but their was more important discussion.

"You let her read my book. Dana doesn't dare read them." Sheila said turning a light pink in the cheeks.

"I couldn't take it from her." I replied, smiling like a fool.

"Amber, Natalie is to not touch my books again. Though her opinion matters, what does she think of it so far?" Sheila responded excitedly.

"She hasn't put it down and as long as we are here you should let her read all your books. And why doesn't Dana?" I replied with a raised eyebrow.

"She hates that I am published and that I am better than her at everything." Sheila responded with doubt in her voice.

"So, the serious matter is that you are leaving her or you found someone else?" I asked knowing that either answer wasn't going to be pretty.

"I found someone else." Sheila replied.

"SHEILA! Come help me with the kids, NOW!" Dana yelled.

We both jumped and felt lumps in our throats.

"I am not meant to be a parent." Sheila whispered as she unlocked the door from her office and went downstairs with her head down.

I have known Sheila my whole life but this isn't the first woman who hasn't made her happy in years. I didn't know what to do since I am in a bind myself with Sarah, I don't have my home and I miss my horses. We didn't get a chance to discuss anything the rest of the evening since Dana had eyes on us both as if we did anything and suspected more than anything that we were having an affair with her in the house, Natalie knew that wasn't possible and called Dana out on it. Me and Natalie decided that we would have to leave their house sooner rather than later since they didn't realize how bad they were fighting.

By that following morning when I woke up to find Sheila once again by herself with her coffee, she looked at me with sadness this time.

"I shouldn't have left your side. Natalie is correct, Dana isn't for anyone." Sheila whispered into her cup.

"We didn't know." I whispered back to her.

"I didn't go down the aisle with her as soon as that happened, our lives changed, she has used every hated word possible and reminds me of how selfish I am." Sheila whispered again.

"You aren't selfish and you deserve better than Dana, now tell about this new woman." I asked in a quiet whisper.

I let Sheila tell me all about her new love interest that stole her heart the moment their eyes crossed paths that she couldn't wait to see her again. I knew this time it was love because Sheila glowed and went into a whole new world with this new woman that caught her eye. I told Sheila when we got our new place that she could come along but they weren't staying in San Antonio and that we were all going to start over some place new and exciting.
