You don't want to cross that line

He didn't say anything. Dili didn't say anything even when we finally landed in Nigeria. That means he didn't say anything to me for a total of 17 hours. Those were a lot of hours. Not a single word left his mouth, which was unusual but very understandable.

After he had told me about his father I didn't know what to say so I said nothing. I know I couldn't say 'sorry' because that was really not the appropriate word to say and I didn't know the appropriate word to say either. I knew sorry was what people would say when a person call to you died but this time, his father has been dead for about four years now, so it wouldn't really make any sense to use the word sorry again.

It was already the next day when we got to Nigeria. It was already afternoon, so that meant that today was the anniversary of his father's death. Dili at the moment looked like the shadow of himself. I didn't like that sight even a little.
