Suspicious High Schoolers II

In Zeds past life, he had met many survivors throughout the entirety of it. This included bandits, soldiers, survivors, the weak and the strong.

Once he had met a group of five survivors which he had spent a few days with. Neither side got to know each other very well, but he remembered that they were somewhat like this group that he was currently travelling with.

Zed walked at the back of the group with the twins. Neither spoke to him and so they just walked in silence. Every now and again, he looked up at them to see what else he could remember.

"Is something wrong Ze-" Grace's sentence was quickly cut off by her sisters coughing.

Zed hadn't yet told this group his name, so what was that about. Had he met them before and just didn't remember. That was unlikely since he barely forgot much.

Zed went over what had happened in his head for a while. Could it possibly be that this group knew him from his past life? Were they also brought back to life with a system? These thoughts clouded Zeds mind until he finally acted upon them.

"Hey Grace, you just tried to call me Zed. Why is that?" Zed asked quietly, not allowing others to hear.

Grace's face said it all. It showed both surprise and terror. She had been stupid and made a mistake which could destroy their plan to get close to Zed

Seeing that the girl was quiet, Zed asked again with a whisper, "Why is that Grace? Have you perhaps met me before? A previous life maybe?"

The girl gasped with shock. At that moment, she realised that Zed had also been brought back to the past after death. Their group thought that they were the only ones since they had been brought back together as a group, but it would only make sense if others did too.

The students all turned to Grace and Zed once they heard her gasp.

"Huh? Something wrong?" Asked Jin as he scratched his head in confusion.

All eyes fell on Grace as she ran to the boys and pointed back at Zed, "He got brought back too!"

Their eyes immediately switched targets and landed on Zed who was at the back of the group.

"Well, this is strange... Do you perhaps wanna explain?" asked Zed calmly.

Nobody answered and only silence filled the sewers. That was until Zack spoke up, "We got brought back after dying to the world catastrophe type zombie. We don't know how or why, but we suspect it's our duty to defend earth against it in the future."

"What level are you guys?" Zed asked in an attempt to dig further. He did this to see if they had the system or if they were still human.

The group looked at Zed in confusion, then to each other. Nobody knew what he was talking about and it was written all over themselves.

Because of this Zed smiled, "Nevermind that now. Just don't tell anyone about this, ok? This needs to stay a secret to everyone but ourselves."

The group nodded in response.

"You guys are the famous Lilly group, right?" Zed asked.

"I'm surprised you know of us since we weren't actually all that popular," replied Sofie with her usual timid voice.

Zed stared confused at the group, "Even after all those years you're still so timid, huh. Of course, I know of you, we spent a week together during the early stages of the apocalypse."

Not wanting to offend Zed anymore than they already had, Zack spoke, "Sorry, we do remember you. It's just that we are being cautious. I think that we should all trust each other. We could be the only ones able to stop the apocalypse from destroying the planet."

"I agree with that. Let's continue this talk on our way to the base" Zed said with a happy heart.

He thought they seemed suspicious since the beginning but couldn't quite reach a conclusion. Now that he knew of their origins he was curious.

The group began walking and the conversation continued.

"So how did you die Zed?" asked Ara as she spun around to face Zed.

Zed thought for a second, "Hm... It feels kind of blurred in my memory. Last thing I remember was fighting the word catastrophe type zombie with the other seven greats. Unfortunately, we were far too weak to beat it, and it quickly killed off the weaker of us. Eventually, even I perished before putting anything more than a scratch on its flesh."

Everyone looked surprised. Their group hadn't stood a chance and yet they still fought and died in battle against it. They were wiped out in seconds. This was natural, but for even the strongest of the greats to not be able to do anything other than leave a scratch on its skin was terrifying.

"No way, how can an undead be that powerful?" Jin questioned as though he couldn't believe what Zed had just told them.

"It's true... Even with all of the greats, all we could do was slow it down on its path to destroy the remaining life on earth, " Zed replied.

The group continued to ask Zed questions out of pure disbelief until all they could do was believe it.

"If you follow me, I'll make you stronger than you could ever imagine. This time we won't lose to the undead, " Zed said proudly out of nowhere.

"You want us to follow you? Can you really give us such strength Zed?" Zack asked concerned.

"Yes of course. All you need to do is be loyal to me and I will give you everything which you desire" Zed answered.

As Zed answered, Zack, stopped and dropped to one knee. "I will from this day serve you! My only request is for you to save and protect those I love."

"Me too! Please keep us safe and help us to reach our goals!" added Jin.

Before Zed knew it, all five of the students were on one knee, pledging their loyalty to him.

"Then, welcome to my group," Zed said as he continued walking.

The others soon came back to and began following him. They should only be about ten minutes away from that base.
