Charm? Please

On the other side.

Evelyn walked inside her company with a distracted mind. Everyone was nodding to her.

Evelyn smiled at them and nodded along the way to her cabin.

Once she entered, Evelyn collapsed on her chair, taking deep breaths. All the way to her company, Evelyn's mind was distracted by Alexander.

All of her thoughts were infested by Alexander. His intoxicating eyes, his touch, everything drove Evely crazy.

Once Evelyn calmed herself, she asked her secretary to give her some report.

Her table was drenched with files that her team has evaluated and needed to be finalized. Nothing much happened at the company today. It was a common day with daily activities.

"Ma'am, Sir Mason wants to meet you."

"Ask him to enter." Evelyn was confused. Mason was her Vice President, whom she knew since her college days.

They were good friends from the start. They knew each other's habits very well. It was very unusual for him to ask for permission to enter.

Mason hated people calling him Vice President, thus the 'Sir Mason' was introduced. Maybe people did not even consider him as Vice President anymore.

Evelyn remembered when she came into the company and took over the charge from her father, she had overheard people gossiping about Mason.

'Who is he exactly?'

'Someone from a higher position.'

'I think he is in the Strategic department. I have seen him there a lot.'

'I think something is going on between him and our Director of Strategy. She is beautiful though.'

'Yes, but Sir Mason is also handsome. Isn't he older than her?'

'Isn't the director married?'

Evelyn laughed, remembering this.

Mason was happily married for 3 years now. Evelyn thought it was funny saying a husband was too old for his own wife.

Evelyn can still picture Mason's wife, Selena laughing with tears in her eyes.

Not many people knew them. Evelyn's friend's circle was always small. There were only 5 friends, including her. All of them had different ages, different backgrounds, and different professions.

Evelyn turned her chair around, staring outside the window.

A beautiful skyline dazzled before her eyes. Evelyn cherished to watch it. She wished all of her friends were here to enjoy this with her.

Evelyn was still engrossed in her thoughts when she heard someone opening the door.

Without turning around, Evelyn said, "Since when do you ask for permission to enter?"

"Cough, cough."

Evelyn turned around to see Mason standing in front of her. He was tall and slim with his hands inside his pocket. A man like him carried an overbearing air around him.

Mason loved to show off his physique more than she did. His posture was irritating to Evelyn's eyes.

Evelyn purred, but before she could express her dissatisfaction, her eyes shifted towards Kyle standing behind Mason.

Evelyn eyed Kyle up and down, searching for something.

Evelyn's forehead crimped. Seeing an unsatisfied expression on her face, Mason asked, "What are you looking at?"

"I am trying to search for something."

"What?" Mason asked. Evely was still busy studying Kyle with a questionable gaze.

"Mr. Black's attitude."

Mason could not help himself and laugh.

Evelyn was always a cunning person. Mason had known Evelyn since the early college days. She never held back, especially when the other party had attacked first.

A smirk formed on Mason's face as he turned around and saw Kyle's haggard face.

Kyle's eyes stretched when he first heard Evelyn say such words. His self-esteem was kicked a lot today.

A son of an esteemed family was working as a normal middle-class man. Running around completing errands. The reality was hard to digest for Kyle.

Mason sat on the sofa at the side of the room, still laughing. He could not help himself but say, "It was crushed by someone I know."

Evelyn smiled. Mason was right, she had crushed Kyle's arrogance. Evelyn moved to the sofa and sat down as she crossed her legs, one over the other.

"What brings you here," Evelyn smirked and said, "Sir Mason."

Mason hated his friends calling him that. But looking at the man standing there, he sealed his lips.

"Kyle Black had joined today." Mason pointed at Kyle as if showing off the new goods.

"Not joined us. He is here for his redemption drive." Evelyn interrupted.

Just because Kyle knew Evelyn's secret doesn't mean that he gets to blackmail her. Everyone in the Black family was so good at blackmailing people, that sometimes giving them a taste of their medicine was a joy in itself.

"No word of advice to him?" Mason smirked.

"No, Kyle knows his job here, I assume" Evelyn looked at Kyle blankly. Now that he worked here, Evelyn had dropped the formalities and started addressing Kyle by his name.

"Yes." Kyle nodded.

"Good, then," Evelyn looked at Mason, "Why did you bring him here?"

"He should at least know who is his boss here." Mason shrugged his shoulders.

"Aren't you the one?" Evelyn giggled. "I remember giving him to you."

'Giving him,' Kyles's eyes swelled. 'What am I, a toy?' was what he wanted to say, but his brother's warning circulated his mind.

'No matter what, never back answer Evelyn.'

Kyle's palms formed a fist, which was not unnoticed by Evelyn. She did not say a word but her cheeks quivering, due to her suppressed laughter.

"Are you sure? You cannot take him back then." Mason joked.

"Have fun," Evelyn waved her hand and got up. She sat on her chair as she opened one of the files. "I am busy. Go out and let me work."

Mason gazed at Evely. He had known her for so long. How can he not understand the hidden meaning of her words?

"Kyle, go to the store-room and search all the files in collaboration with BH Industries."

Once Kyle was out, Mason came near Evelyn and beamed. He sat opposite her and stared at his boss, who was busy flipping the pages.

Mason's gaze was burning, making Evelyn unable to concentrate. She closed her file and looked straight at Mason, "What?"

"Nothing, I am just looking at you working."

"Very funny." Evelyn folded her arms over her chest, "Don't you have any other work than being here?"

"But this is more fun." Mason chuckled.

"Mason," Evelyn warned.

"Yes."

"Go and work."

"But you gave me an assistant who can work for me," Mason said innocently.

"Should I appoint him on your place then?" Evelyn was serious, but be eyes were smiling. She missed arguing like children with Mason.

"If you wish, I can still be a husband who stays at home." Mason was confident, "My wife will support me."

"Should I inform her then? Her loving and caring husband is dying to be a stay at home househusband."

"Househusband? Is that even a word?" Mason laughed.

"If housewife can be a word, then house-husband can also be one." Evelyn defended herself.

Mason was unsure about Evelyn's brain. Maybe Evelyn was good in business but worst in English or commonsense as a whole.

"She won't mind," Mason said in confidence, but he knew the reality.

"Stop working, and you know." Evelyn challenged.

"That is mean." Manson said with a sad face, "You know Selena hates lazy people."

"And yet she married you." Evely giggled.

"That is my charm," Mason said with a proud face.

Evelyn grinned at his words. "Charm? Please."

"Keep this attitude, and you will never have a boyfriend."

Before Mason's voice died down, Evelyn's phone rang. It was a message notification.

Evelyn and Mason looked at each other and then at the phone. Both of their hands jumped at the same time to pick up the mobile.
