Drunk On Her Skin

"S-Sir," Amelia could not believe her ears.

Alexander was the one who never changed his decision. Just a word from Evelyn and he decided to ignore the hard work done by his people.

Amelia wanted to ask Alexander. She wanted to confirm his words. Amelia still clung to her hope. Alexander would never harm his people for someone like Evelyn.

Alexander ignored Amelia's inquiring eyes. He turned to Evelyn and said, "Should we settle it now."

Evelyn looked at Amelia's face. Her face was white as blank paper. It was amusing to see such changes.

Confidence was replaced by anxiety as Amelia's eyes filled with water. She wanted to defend herself but feared that the situation was not right.

"I think you should solve your internal problems first," Evelyn got up from her chair. She ran down her hand through her clothes to straighten them. "Once you decide on the new place, we can arrange a meeting then."

Alexander got up from his chair. All the eyes snapped towards Alexander's action.

He walked towards the door to open it. Evelyn stopped and looked behind to see everyone's reaction. Everyone was in shock.

Alexander had never behaved in this way. In the business world, they knew him as the Devil. The bookish definition of evil.

To see a person feared by everyone being so considerate towards a living soul was a scary thing to watch.

It was a first seeing Alexander get up and walk towards the door for anyone.

Amelia swallowed. Her eyes were filled with doubt and envy. Seeing Evelyn stop, Alexander followed her eyes to see everyone watching them.

Noticing Alexander's scary eyes, a chill ran down through everyone's back.

Evelyn just observed everyone's reaction but did not say a word. How Alexander handled his people was none of her business.

Alexander waited outside for Evelyn as a well-behaved man.

When Evely walked out the door, she turned towards Alexander and said, "You stay here. You have things to discuss with your staff."

"I will walk you out." Alexander protested. His eyes were gentle as he tried to hold Evelyn's hand.

Evelyn did not reject his words. She nodded and stepped out alongside Alexander. Just as Alexander reached out for her hand, Evelyn eyed him and hit her elbow onto his stomach.

A giggled escaped Evelyn's lips. Alexander's heart skipped a beat. A piece of music that calmed his mind but messed up his heart.

Before going out, Alexander eyed everyone inside. The unspoken words were simple "no more gossip."

Everyone swallowed the seed of information in silence. When the demon king gives the order, you listen. No questions asked.

"You should go back up" Evelyn stood near her car's door.

Alexander nodded but still did not move. Evelyn's face was pulling him towards her.

A spell which Alexander never wanted to break.

"Sorry to waste your time." Alexander was truly sorry. A silly mistake from his team not only wasted Evelyn's time but also destroyed his face in front of her.

"If it was someone else, I would not even entertain them," Evelyn said with a smile. The meaning of her words was simple. Alexander was unique.

Alexander smirked at her words. "So you are saying I am special?"

Evelyn blushed, "I never said that." Evelyn's sight shifted towards her car.

Suddenly her own car looked more precious than a diamond.

Alexander chuckled. Evelyn was behaving like a little kitten, trying to avoid his eyes as if she was caught red-handed. Alexander held Evelyn's hand and helped her sit in the car, "Take care."

Alexander was drunk on Evelyn's skin. The touch was as smooth as silk. Alexander wanted to feel this for a lifetime.

'I should search for a ring soon.' Alexander kissed her hand as he closed the car door.

A smile lingered on Evelyn's face as the car left Alexander behind.

Along the way to her office, Evelyn's mind drifted at Amelia. She hated the look in Amelia's eyes. A person like Alexander would always be the center of attraction.

When it came to Alexander, his achievements were like honey covering him up, attracting bees and butterflies with every step.

The comparison made Evelyn laugh.

**Inside Alexander's cabin.**

Alexander was sitting in his chair with a grin on his face. He was disappointed with himself.

"Amelia, I trusted you." Alexander's voice was filled with hidden rage.

Alexander's eyes burned with frustration. His fingers cracked.

"S-S-Sir.." Amelia's voice betrayed her. She was so afraid at this moment with the mere thought of Alexander's wrath.

"Look at this," Alexander pushed the opened file toward Amelia.

With trembling hands, Amelia took the file and started reading it. "Go through it properly and then give me a proper explanation on this."

As Amelia read it more and more, her mind started getting blank. There was evidence about the money transaction between Mr. Jefferson and her father.

"I had no idea." Amelia tried to explain, "If I would have known."

"You are demoted." Alexander cut Amelia off "A mistake like this could result in you getting fire."

Amelia knew what Alexander said was true. He never liked her father, but her father was a good friend of Alexander's father.

Even though Alexander did not like her father, he still gave him a face.

Amelia knew Alexander since she was a child. She always admired him from afar. Later, when she joined Knight Corporation, she worked hard to get to a position recognized by all. A mistake by her father would affect her dreams.

Amelia knew a mistake like this could cost the company billions and affect its goodwill. Alexander hated it when anyone took his company and his hard work for granted.

Maybe that was why Alexander was so successful at such a young age. He was passionate and driven towards his goal.

"I am giving you face for the last time. One more mistake, and you would be fired."

Amelia nodded and turned to leave the room in silence. She understood where Alexander came from. Just as Amelia was about to open the door, Alexander said in a dull voice, "You are suspended for a week."

"I understand." Amelia had no words to counter-attack. She decided to own her mistake and take responsibility for it. Maybe then Alexander would see how devoted she is towards her work just like him.
