Unfair Deal

Evelyn's voice echoed in the space. Her clear voice was calm, breaking through an unknown barrier created by Amelia.

Amelia was dumbstruck. Amelia's eyes gaped at Evelyn, whose features were facing Alexander.

Amelia's face twisted. The girl was beautiful with a gorgeous set of eyes. Her eyelashes fluttered like a butterfly. Amelia looked at Alexander.

Alexander was normal. His eyes narrowed at Evelyn's words. He wanted to argue with her but endured quietly.

Seeing Alexander not responding, Amelia could not stop herself. An uncomfortable feeling crept into her heart.

"Is there any reason? We can discuss." Amelia interrupted.

Evelyn's gazed at Amelia. Evelyn interlocked her fingers and rested her chin on them.

"Let's discuss." Evelyn smiled. Her face was pretty but scary to look at, "You are asking me to invest millions of dollars into a project on what terms?"

"We can discuss profit percentages." Amelia's palms were sweating. It was a big project which she was handling for the first time.

"I guess it is your CEO's call. Not yours." Evelyn smirked, looking at Alexander.

Alexander understood Evelyn's gaze. Amelia was crossing her line, but Alexander could not say anything in front of people.

"What do you expect," Alexander asked in a neutral tone.

"I need some answers before I make any decisions," Evelyn said.

Alexander nodded. He would love to listen to any words from Evelyn.

Evelyn smirked as she looked at Amelia. The game is about to start.

"Whose idea was it to choose this place," Evelyn asked. Her eyes narrowed.

"Our research team had been looking out for various places, and this one checked a lot of boxes for us," Amelia said with a smile. An investor was an investor, after all. Even though Amelia did not like Evelyn's vibe she could not disrespect her.

Evelyn nodded. It could be understood why Amelia was so passionate about this project.

"Fortunately for us. We did our own mini-research as well." Evelyn's voice was filled with ridicule.

Evelyn took a file from one of her people and turned the pages around.

"The property is under Mr. Jefferson's name. If my resources are to be believed, your father is an investor in their firm as well. Isn't it, Miss Amelia?" Evelyn turned towards Amelia and said.

Evelyn's eyes narrowed, almost questioning her. Amelia felt a domineering aura emitting from Evelyn. Amelia was intimidated by Evelyn.

"Yes, everyone knows it," Amelia said.

"Good, then you are responsible to close the deal, right." Evelyn did not have to ask this question. The answer was as clear as water in her glass.

"Yes, I know him very well. I can negotiate a good deal with him."

"Interesting" Evelyn's body turned towards Alexander and asked, "Does Mr. Knight trust his judgments to the extent that he is ready to take up risk?"

Alexander raised his eyebrow. "What do you mean by that?"

Evelyn passed the file to him. "If this is how you deal with things, then we need to rethink our whole investment. We never had this problem with Mr. Knight Sr."

Alexander ignored Evelyn's words and read the report in his hand. As he read further, his rage increased, which could be clearly seen on his face.

Alexander glanced at Amelia but did not say a word. His gaze was a warning itself.

Amelia was unsure about what was written in the file. But Alexander's look terrified her. Amelia had done her research. There was no mistake whatsoever. Apart from the land recommended by her father, there was nothing else that could implicate such a reaction. There were no suspicious activities there. The land was as good as new.

Noticing Alexander's appearance, Amelia had a cold sweat on her back. She wanted to say something, but before she could figure out what to say to ease the atmosphere, a low melodious voice said.

"Don't frighten her. It's not her mistake but yours." Evelyn was amused by observing the situation.

"I don't pay them to make such mistakes." Alexander's voice was filled with rage. His body was ignited to explode at any moment now.

'But it is your work to see through their mistake and rectify it,' Evelyn wanted to say this. But she knew this was not the time. There were too many people here.

"Okay, I am not interested in your company's internal affairs," Evelyn sighed, battling the tension in the air. "What I am interested in is something else."

"What?" Alexander asked.

"I can give you the money as a loan with a 15% interest for each year. And after the money is fully paid back, we will have 10% equity." Evelyn was about to continue before she was interrupted.

"We cannot make such an unfair deal," Amelia interjected. A deal like this could affect her well-crafted image in the circle.

Amelia did not want this. It was hard to get to a point of making almost every deal turn into profit. If Evelyn's conditions are met, Amelia's reputation would be beyond repair.

"Unfair," Evelyn raised her eyebrows. "I remember asking this to your CEO."

"It looks like Mr. Knight should educate his employees." Evelyn ridiculed.

The room was silent. No one dared to speak a single word. Everyone's gaze was jumping from Alexander to Evelyn. They have never seen anyone talking to their President with such boldness.

Standing in front of their CEO without trembling was already good enough, but fighting with him without getting killed was another thing.

Everyone was impressed by Evelyn. The lady was beautiful, but her aura was not less than their President's.

"I feel there is something more apart from this," Alexander asked. His temperament was never good. If it was not for Evelyn, Alexander would have made his team pay for making such a fool out of him in front of his crush.

"Of course, there is," Evelyn grinned. Alexander knew her better than she thought.

"Apart from this, you need to change the place altogether." Evely said, "The terms and conditions are not negotiable."

Amelia's eyes enlarged. 'Change the place? She and her team had worked so hard for it. To change the whole place was impractical.'

Amelia was sure no matter what was written in the file, Alexander would never agree to it. They had made a pitch to other investors as well. Evelyn was not the only one. One less investor would not affect them. Thousands would like to invest in this project.

Amelia's hopes were shattered when Alexander's voice fell in the quiet room.

"We will change the place. We can discuss the other terms."
