Friends

Thirteen and the other three crash landed on the island, Thirteen got off the boat and said "Thanks." before walking away, Luffy watched him go and smirked. Zoro snapped "Watch where you're going idiot!" Luffy laughed and Thirteen disappeared.

Thirteen was walking through town and noticed most of the buildings were broken, he came across a fishman. The fishman said "A Mink?!" Thirteen said "A fishman?" The fishman said "My name's Hatchi!" Thirteen said "Thirteen." he pointed to the sun on his forehead and said "What's that?" Hatchi turned grim and said "A tattoo." Thirteen nodded and passed by saying "Nice cover up." Hatchi's pupils shrank and he stopped him and said "Hold on! If you know what it is I can't let you go." Thirteen lifted his shirt, showing his brand before saying "Don't worry about it." and walked away, leaving Hatchi stunned.

Thirteen kept walking around the island and came across a tangerine orchard, he nodded and decided he would stay here for a while. He plucked a few tangerines and ate them while walking around the general area. He found a house and went inside, he looked in the house and saw pictures of a purple haired woman and two kids, one had blue hair and the other had orange hair. The orange haired girl was Nami, he assumed this was her house, he frowned and grabbed a bag, he went outside and stuffed the bag full of tangerines before leaving. She knew who he was, she would sell him whenever he became bothersome, he didn't want to kill her.

He came across a town full of people, he looked around and hid in an alley way before eating some of his tangerines, he looked at his clothes and decided to get some new ones. He hid his bag behind a barrel and snuck into a store, he stole a shirt and shorts before running back to his alley, grabbing his bag and moving to another. The shop keep said "Damn thief! Not only do I have to deal with fishmen but a half-breed too?!" Thirteen sighed and observed the town from the shadows in an alley, there were a lot of people here and kids too, he didn't like that. He didn't want to kill kids, unless they were like the kids from the slave ship, then he didn't care.

Nami conveniently walked down the street as the shop keep said "Damn Half-breed, it's lucky the marines don't do anything around here." Nami snapped "What did you just say?!" the shop keep said "Nami? You're back? Genzo and the rest were waiting for you." Nami grit her teeth and spat "Don't ever say half-breed again! He's my friend!" the shop keep said "We it just stole clothes from my shop, maybe you can reason with the animal." Nami seethed and hit him with her staff, sending him flying back into his shop.

Thirteen watched as she called him her friend, he didn't like that, attachments were bad, they put both sides in danger. He changed into his new clothes and decided to leave the island. He left the alley with his bag of tangerines and made his way towards the docks, he came across a walled off portion, he climbed the wall and saw a bunch of fishmen with their brands covered by sun tattoos. He wondered if they were part of a slave group, it seemed they were only fishmen unfortunately, he remembered the stories from some of the other slaves about a fishman who liberated all the slaves just a few years before he was captured, he wondered if he would've been freed too.

A fishman noticed Thirteen peeking over the wall and said "Hey you! What are you doing there?!" Thirteen said "Observing." the fishman said "Observing what?" Thirteen said "I was wondering if your group only has fishman slaves." the fishmen all froze and one of them said "What did you say?!" Thirteen said "You all have sun tattoos but there are only fishmen here. I assume you formed a group after you escaped." the fishman said "There were only fishmen at the time, and one human girl." Thirteen nodded and said "I heard stories about a fishman climbing into hell and saving all the slaves." The fishman said "Who are you?" Thirteen said "Thirteen. I was captured a few years after you were all liberated. Around 2 years after if I'm not mistaken." he sat on the wall and lifted his shirt.

The fishman said "You're the Mink that escaped?" Thirteen nodded, and the fishman said "You have quite the bounty on your head kid." Thirteen said "It's 10 million right now." the fishman laughed and said "Check again kid. Someone bring him a newspaper!" A fishman brought Thirteen a news paper, he opened it a caught the bounty that fell out, he read it.

'White Tiger Half-Mink' Slave 50 million

There was still no picture or a name, he read the bottom aloud "Raped a woman before escaping, slaughtered an entire village, and murdered a group of children. Dangerous engage with caution." He handed the news paper back and said "Certainly aren't doing me any favors." the fishman laughed and said "They never do. How about you join me?" Thirteen shook his head and said "I can't, I need to leave. Maybe some other time, good luck with the rest of your lives. Hopefully we don't meet again in hell." as he hopped off the wall and continued towards the docks.

He came across a group of villagers with weapons, he stopped and said "I don't suppose you're here for me?" the man in the front said "No. We're going after Arlong. The fishman." Thirteen nodded and walked away saying "Maybe you'll all be buried together." a blue haired woman said "What does that mean?!" Thirteen didn't even turn back as he said "You're all going to die." and walked away, leaving the villagers to grit their teeth. A kid ran out and said "You're that slave from the newspaper!" Thirteen stopped and said "Yep. What are you going to do now." the kid said "You're a rapist murderer! You're just like them!"

Thirteen was silent before saying "Yeah. I am, maybe you should run before I rip your head off your body." the kid paled and fell to the floor, the blue haired woman frowned as she watched Thirteen sigh and walk away. The shop keep from earlier took aim and shot at Thirteen, shocking the rest of the villagers and the blue haired woman, who snapped "What the fuck are you doing?!" Thirteen got shot right through the shoulder, he looked at his shoulder and turned around. He walked towards the shop keep, kicking the kid out of his way as he walked forward.

He stopped in front of the shop keep and shot out his hand, grabbing his neck as he lifted him in the air. He grabbed the shop keep's gun and threw it away before saying "Why did you shoot me? Because I stole a shirt and some shorts? Because I'm a slave?" the shop keep didn't know what to say, Thirteen said "Do you have a family?" the shop keep shook his head and Thirteen nodded before lifting his other hand, causing it to twinkle and burst into blue flames as he said "I guess you just thought I was better off dead then." Thirteen shot his hand right through the man's chest and ripped his heart out before crushing it in his hands and dropping the corpse on the ground before walking away.

The villagers started throwing up from the brutality as Nami showed up with Luffy and said "What happened?" the blue haired woman said "That guy killed him." as she pointed at Thirteen. Nami looked at the shop keep from before and then at Thirteen, he had a gunshot through his left shoulder that covered his left arm with his own blood and his right arm was covered in the shop keep's blood. Luffy said seriously "What happened before he killed him." the blue haired woman explained what happened and finished "Then he ripped his heart out and killed him." Luffy nodded and ran after Thirteen as the kid from before said "He's just like the fishmen!"

Nami snapped "And how are you not?!" as she slapped the kid and continued "We're slaves just like he was! He didn't do anything to you! Why do you hate him? For no reason? To make yourself feel better? If anything you are like the fishmen not him." the kid cried and ran behind some of the adults, the blue haired woman said "You know him?" Nami explained what happened before and on the Baratie to the rest before running after Thirteen herself, leaving the villagers stunned.

Luffy and Nami caught up to Thirteen and Luffy said "Thirteen! Where are you going?" Thirteen said "I'm leaving." Nami said "But you just got here." Thirteen held up a bounty poster and said "50 million now. It's only a matter of time before they call the marines." Nami and Luffy looked at the bounty poster and Luffy said "That's a lot!" Thirteen nodded and Nami said "But you can still stay here. There's no name on it or a picture."

Thirteen grit his teeth and showed emotion for the first time as he snapped "And be treated like a rat?! An animal anybody can kill around and hunt down?! It might not look like it bothers me but it does, I held back on killing those kids, the people in the restaurant, and I almost killed the whole group of villagers right there!" he clenched his fist and Luffy said "What's stopping you?" Thirteen said "This is Nami's home. I heard her say that I was her friend before, I never had one of those." he turned around and walked away.

Nami was stunned and Luffy said "I'm your friend too." Thirteen stopped and said "Friends are dangerous. If a fleet comes after me, a friend will save themselves and turn me in." Luffy said "How do you know?" Thirteen turned around and said "Who do you know is stupid enough to fight a marine fleet for a half-breed slave." Nami walked up and slapped him saying "Don't say that! youre not a half-breed or a slave!" Luffy grinned and pointed to himself and said "Me." Nami nodded and said "Me too." The rest of the crew came a long and Zoro said "Me too, could probably get a good fight." Sanji said "I'll do it. You helped the old man, I owe you one." as he lit a cigarette, Usopp said "Can't be a brave warrior of the sea if you can't fight marines!" as his legs shook at the thought.

Thirteen was silent as they all made their declarations, and Luffy said "I want you to join my crew!" Thirteen silently stared at them trying to find any signs of deceit in their eyes, but they were all clear and pure. He said "You want me on your crew?" Luffy nodded and said "Yeah! I don't care as long as you don't kill innocent people." the rest chuckled and smiled. Thirteen was silent before walking away and saying "I need to think about it." the crew watched him go and Luffy grinned "That guy is super cool!" Nami sighed and said "We should probably go to Arlong now." Luffy said "Oh yeah! I forgot! He made my navigator cry! Let's go." the crew grinned and left, Nami watched them leave before turning to Thirteen's silhouette and running after him saying "I'll catch up with you guys later!"

Thirteen reached the docks and stared at a small boat, he sat down and opened his bag. He took out a few tangerines and ate them as he thought to himself, maybe he should go with them, he wouldn't have to worry about food anymore, he would have clothes and he could clean himself. He frowned and mumbled "But they could turn me in at anytime, maybe they're trying to trick me so they can get the bounty money..." Nami stopped behind him and choked back the words she was about to say, she stared at him silently a bit sad. Thirteen mumbled "Maybe they would be like mom's relatives and just sell me instead.." He sighed and peeled another tangerine as he mumbled "I wonder what mom would say, maybe she would hate me like everyone else... probably.."

Nami said "I don't think so." Thirteen turned around and said "I thought you went with the rest." before turning back and eating the slices of tangerines in his hands. Nami sat down next to him and looked at the tangerines in his hands and in the bag as she said "I came to see you first. You stole my tangerines?" Thirteen nodded and said "I needed food, and there was no one home. I was going to stay there but it was your house and you knew who I was, so I left." as he ate the rest of the slices in his hands. Nami was quiet and said "Do you think we would sell you?"

Thirteen froze and was silent before saying "Eventually. Even my blood relatives sold me, what's stopping you all?" Nami grabbed his face and said "Even if they did. We won't. I promise." Thirteen looked into her eyes and said "Promises are often broken." Nami looked into his eyes and said "Not this one." Thirteen nodded and said "Maybe I can try. The worst that can happen is I go back or die." he stood up and grabbed his bag before walking towards Arlong park, Nami smiled and followed him.

Thirteen and Nami arrived at Arlong park just in time to see the building collapse and hear Luffy scream "Nami! You're my friend!" Nami teared up and nodded. Luffy grinned and said "Thirteen! You decided?!" the rest of the crew looked over and Thirteen nodded and said "I will join." Luffy cheered and the rest of the crew grinned. Thirteen watched them and heard another voice "Oh, I might get a promotion if I bring in Arlong and the slave." he turned around and saw a marine walking towards him, he silently watched as the marines behind him raised their guns at him.

The marine said "Surrender or die." as he stopped in front of him. Thirteen unraveled his chains and swung them around while they twinkled and burst into blue flames. He shot forward and whipped the chain around the marine's neck and pulled him into his hand as he grabbed his throat and used him as a meat shield while charging towards the group. Thirteen used his other chain and whipped it towards the marines slashing them as Luffy punched the marines, sending them flying.

Thirteen kicked the marine with the chain around his neck, he used enough force to rip the man's head off his body. The man's body flew towards the marines and Thirteen grabbed his head and covered it in blue flames as he threw it towards the group as well, causing it to explode in the middle of them. He lunged forward and grabbed a gun as he shot several marines, he ran out of bullets and used to gun as a bat and killed the rest. He dropped the gun and wrapped his chains around his arms again as he said "I'm not a slave. My name is Thirteen." some of the marines luckily survived and snuck a picture of him before running away.

Thirteen watched them go and Luffy grinned "You're strong!" Thirteen said "I need to get these cuffs off." Luffy said "We'll get them off somehow." Thirteen nodded and ripped his shirt, that was covered in blood off, revealing his brand as he stuck his fingers into his bullet wound and took out the bullet before wrapping the torn shirt around his shoulder. He turned around and said to Luffy "I will fight for you." as he got on one knee. Luffy stopped him with a frown and said "I don't want you to fight for me. You're not a slave anymore, you're my friend. I protect my friends. Don't do that ever again, understood?" Thirteen blinked and stood up before nodding and saying "Okay. Friend."

Luffy grinned and slapped his back as he said "Shishishi That's better! Let's party!" Thirteen was silent, normally people are appalled when they see his brand but Luffy didn't care at all, maybe this would be a good thing. Thirteen followed Luffy silently as they walked back to the villagers and the crew.

A while later

Thirteen was sitting by himself away from the party and watching the crew laugh, eat, and drink. The blue haired woman walked up to him and said "Enjoy being by yourself?" Thirteen said "Nothing new." the blue haired woman sat down and said "I'm Nojiko." Thirteen said "Thirteen. You're Nami's sister right?" Nojiko nodded and said "Yep. I live in the house you stole the tangerines from." Thirteen said "I know. I saw pictures of you and Nami with a woman in the house. I suppose you came here to threaten me?" Nojiko frowned and said "Why would I do that?" Thirteen said "I killed that shop keep in front of you and i'm a supposed rapist psychopath. You aren't concerned for you sister at all?"

Nojiko giggled and said "That shop keep brought it on himself, he was here for a few years after escaping from another island Arlong was terrorizing. He wasn't the most liked person around, although ripping his heart out was a bit much. As for Nami, I don't think I have to worry about you doing anything to her, she already told me what happened at the restaurant." Thirteen nodded and said "I see." Nojiko sighed and handed him a drink as she said "You don't like to talk much do you?"

Thirteen took the drink and stared at the liquid, Nojiko chuckled "I didn't drug you." he stared at her for a moment before drinking from the cup as he said "I don't usually meet people who are willing to have a conversation." Nojiko sighed and touched his brand as she said "Does it hurt?" Thirteen said "Not anymore. I got it when I was 7." Nojiko said "Must've been painful for a 7 year old to endure..." Thirteen said "It was bad for a day or two. After that it was fine." Nojiko was silent before saying "Do you want to cover it up? I know the tattoo artist." Thirteen said "No, maybe one day but not now. I would like a tattoo though." Nojiko smiled and said "Follow me." as she stood up and left, Thirteen followed her.

They arrived at a building, and Nojiko walked in and said "Carla! I'm here! I brought you someone!" A woman that had tattoos on her hands and forearms and big round glasses stumbled into the room, tripping over a box and face planting. She stood up and adjusted her glasses and said "Hey Nojiko! Who is this?" Nojiko giggled and said "The big bad wolf." Carla squinted through her glasses and said "The hottie with the tail?" Thirteen looked at Carla and tilted his head, she had rainbow colored hair that was braided into pig tails and she wore ankle boots, short denim shorts with suspenders and a white belly shirt. He said "If there's nobody else with a tail, than that would be me."

Carla was excited as she said "Yay! Thanks for bringing him Nojiko!" Nojiko chuckled and said "He wanted a tattoo. I didn't bring him so you could eat him up." as she nodded on Carla's head, Carla smirked and said "Maybe after then." Nojiko rubbed her forehead and said "Whatever. Just give him his tattoo." Carla giggled and turned to Thirteen and said "What would you like hottie? You can anything you want, even me!" Thirteen choked on his saliva, he never expected this and said "I wanted a white tiger tattoo on my right shoulder to my chest." Carla pouted and said "What about me?" Thirteen said "Maybe after I guess." Carla was overjoyed and said "It'll be perfect! Come sit down!" Nojiko rolled her eyes and said "I'll see you later." as she left.

Thirteen sat down and Carla started drawing on his arm, she got to his shoulder and sat on his lap as she drew. Thirteen was absolutely stunned at this woman, she definitely did that on purpose, he looked at her and thought she was cute so why not, he might not have another chance to do it after he left. She shifted more comfortably as the chair leaned back, she rested her elbows on his chest as she continued with the tattoo, shifting her lower body every so often, she smiled when she felt a reaction from him and continued to draw saying "Thanks for killing that asshole. He would bully me everyday for my tattoos and the way I dressed."

Thirteen said "It was unintentional." Carla giggled and said "I don't care. Now I won't be bullied anymore." Thirteen was silent before saying "Nobody helped you?" Carla said "Nojiko would stand up for me but my parents died a long time ago." Thirteen said "Same." Carla smiled and said "Were they nice?" Thirteen said "I only met my mother and a few years after I was born she died." Carla said "I'm sorry. My parents died a few years ago." Thirteen was silent before saying "Do you miss them?" Carla paused for a second before saying "I do. Almost every day." Thirteen nodded and said "Sorry." Carla smiled and said "It's okay. I moved on." Thirteen said "That's good." Carla giggled and said "You don't smile much do you?" Thirteen shook his head and said "I don't remember ever smiling. Should I?"

Carla nodded and said "Smiling is good. It makes you happy! See?" as she gave him a big toothy smile, Thirteen looked at her and smiled slightly. Carla just stared at him and blushed before going back to drawing, Thirteen lost his smile and said "Not good?" Carla mumbled "Amazing actually.." as she finished his tattoo and got off him. He stood up and walked to a mirror, he said "Very nice. Almost looks real." The tattoo was a white tiger jumping from his arm to his chest and roaring with a paw in the air and blood dripping off it's claws. Thirteen really liked it a lot, Carla said "It came out really good! It might be the best I've ever done!" Thirteen turned around and said "I don't have any money. Nojiko never really said anything about payment. I can do something for you if you'd like, anything I guess."

Carla touched her chin and said "Can you stay with me for the night?" Thirteen nodded and said "Very well." Carla cheered and dragged him to her kitchen saying "What do you like to eat?" Thirteen said "Anything." Carla winked and gave him a thumbs up as she said "I'll make my specialty!"

A while later

Carla was sitting on Thirteen's lap and kissing him, he kissed her back and wrapped his arms around her waist. Carla wrapped her arms around his neck and said "Do you want to.." Thirteen nodded and said "If you want." she smiled and nodded before dragging him to her room. She closed the door and kissed him again, he kissed her while taking off her clothes, he slid her shorts off and removed her shirt before taking her bra and underwear off. Thirteen was confused but still nodded, Sanji slid over and grinned "What does she look like? Was she cute?" Thirteen nodded and looked off the boat and pointed at Carla and said "Thats her. The girl with the braids and glasses." Sanji looked over and said "She IS cute! You bastard!" Zoro chuckled and Thirteen was confused as he said "Should I not have?" Sanji sighed and said "It's fine, damn bastard.." as he walked away, Zoro laughed and said "He's jealous because he couldn't land a single girl all night. When he calls you a bastard you should call him dartbrow." Thirteen nodded and said "Okay."

Carla ran up to the ship and said "Thanks for staying with me last night Thirteen!" Thirteen said "No problem. I enjoyed myself, your cooking was very good." Carla smiled and said "Your welcome! I enjoyed myself too! Thanks for the other thing too." Thirteen gave her a barely noticeable smile and said "Anytime." Carla nodded and smiled as she waved good bye and left quickly, he watched her go and felt weird, he liked her a lot, maybe not a life partner but someone he could talk to. He decided if he had nowhere to go he would come back here. Unfortunately that would never happen, as he was in for the adventure of his life.

Nami came back and jumped on the ship as she said "Set sail!" the ship sailed away as Nami lifted her shirt and revealed all the wallets, Thirteen saw Carla's wallet and picked it up. He twinkled his finger and seared a '13' on it before throwing it to her, she caught it and saw the '13' and smiled. Thirteen picked up the rest and stole all the money inside before putting it inside his pocket and throwing the wallets on the floor. Nami watched him and giggled as the ship set sail for Loguetown.

Hey guys! A little bit of character development and building, just bare with me here. He will still be the killer I want but I want him to be more human too! In case you didn't know he never smiles, kinda like Mihawk. The way I wrote him was as a stone cold killer but he will slowly change into something better, I promise.
