Chapter 10- Gail

"According to manners, you guys should be thankful I actually brought food." Jay turned, glaring at her. "According to our manners, we shouldn't have to eat baby portions." He said, looking back down the hallway filled with blood, "Jesus…" He looked away, gaging. A ratchet smell drifted towards them, almost rotten..

"According to my calculations, we shouldn't worry about the smell, our brain works faster than our noses, so the smell will seem normal if we keep smelling it." Gail stated, continuing to walk ahead. She stopped for a moment, pulling out her flashlight, "Maybe we should use this." She said, talking to herself, as the others leaned against each other for support. The light flickered to action, lighting up the hallway. She gasped, taking a step backwards. Ahead of them were those things, hanging upside down, sleeping? Their long black hair flowed across their faces, blocking it from Gails view. Gail turned to the rest of them, bringing a finger to her lips. "If we are quiet… We won't die." She whispered among the silence. They grabbed each other's hands, holding their breath as they took steps into the things territory. Each step made a soft creaking noise, despite their actions, they made it through the horrid place.

"Left or right?" Gail asked, nodding her head towards the fork in the road, "Uhm. What do you think? You're the one that's sooo smart. So go ahead bitch. Pick." Zoey snaped. Earning a hand on the shoulder from Jay. "Well, I say we go up." Gail replied, shining the light towards the left, revealing stairs.

Zoey looked at Jay, "What if.. What if she's still alive. I.. I'm not leaving her," Zoey shrugged Jay off, sitting against the wall. "Go. I'm not leaving her. She's alive. I.. I can feel it, and I don't care if those things come and kill me. I just want to see her again." Zoey cried, burrowing her head into her knees. Gail stared at her.

"Well then, you're totally going to die, according to my calculations." Gail said, earning a glare from Jay. "But Zoey." Gail fumbled one her backpack for something, she got it out and placed it by Zoey, "Here a walkie talkie, just let us know if you need anything." Gail said, turning to walk down the hallway.

"Are you kidding. You've had that the whole fucking time, and you didn't give it to Alexa!?" Jay snapped, running his hands through his hair.

"Well, in the moment, all I really cared about was saving my life." Gail replied, crossing her arms. They glared at her, until Jay spoke up, "Zoey, Alexa has to be dead. That.. That thing won't hesitate to kill her. It's only objective is to kill." Jay stated, kneeling down next to Zoey, trying to convince her to come.

"Well according to my calculations, there's a two point two percent chance she could still be alive, and leaving her behind, will definitely be killing her, but having said that. I would rather save myself, I'm stuck with you guys, but, I rather all of us making it out alive. So, lets go." Gail said, walking off. Mason sighed, turning around, walking with Gail, "Jay, you know I will not leave her. So go, If she's dead. I would like to know." Zoey said, placing a hand on Jay's shoulder, squeezing it. Jay sighed, dropping his head, "Okay, Okay fine just be safe." Jay stood up slowly, giving Zoey one last look, before walking with the rest.

"We left her." Jay said, his voice hard. Gail sighed, continuing walking with Mason, "Are you fucking kiding me, we left our friend," he cleared his throat, "My friend. To die, and you are just okay with it?" Gail paused, giving him a look. "Language," She said simply, turning around and continuing walking.

"Well, we left her, because she wanted to be left. She wants to be there for her girlfriend, if she's still alive. So, we kinda care, but it's just something we have to live with." Mason paused, looking at Gail, "Well excuse you Glasses, I didn't know her, besides the time she ran into me. So I do not care." He said, crossing his arms. Jay walked up to him, smiled, then punched him in the face, knocking him backwards, "Fuck you bro." Jay said, raising his fist once again, until Gail placed a hand on his arm, "What are you-" She brought a finger to her lips, pointing to the ceiling, that's when she heard it, the sound of nails slowly scraping on a chalkboard. Then came the flickering lights, on, off, light dark, the soft buzzing noise all around them.

"You two should chill, I'm not afraid of those things." Mason said, crossing his arms. That is until he felt the cold breath on the back on his neck, sending chills down his spine, he stood frozen in place. Gail and Jay slowly stepped backwards, ready to run, they watched as the things mouth opened three times wider than they could, Its long jaws clamped around Masons head, snapping it clean off, sending Mason severed body crumpling to the ground. As the thing finished Mason's head. Its head slowly turned, facing them with beady red eyes.

, "Run." Jay said, slowly moving backwards, "Dammit woman, RUN!" Jay shouted, turning and running down the hall, Gail followed soon after, hearing its screeching, its thuds following closely behind. Gail suddenly turned, running inside a room, Jay followed, as the things's hands reached out for him, the slammed the door on its hands, sending them to the ground, As they slowly slid down the door, they looked to each other.

"Shit.. Thanks Glasses." Jay said letting out a slow breath of air, Gail opened her mouth to correct him, but closed it, nodding slowly. "We're safe now right? No way for them to get in?" Jay asked looking at Gail, she thought about, calculating on the ways they could get in. "Well help me move that bed against the door, and then we should be good." Jay nodded, standing up, pushing it with Gail, against the door, "Do you think we can.. Finally get some sleep?" Jay asked, a yawn following behind. She again calculated all the scenarios in her head, she nodded, laying down on the cold stone, Jay laid down slowly next to her, "Night, Glasses." Jay said slowly, facing away from Gail, "Night." She closed her eyes, only hoping for her twelve hours of sleep.
