Chapter 12- Alexa

Alexa hoped her heavy breathing and pounding heart weren't giving her hiding spot away. The lights were flashing so intensely, light, dark, on, off, over and over. She'd been able to escape the crab-walk creature, as she called it.Luckily, she'd been able to get the knife she used from freeing Zoey to stab it's leg, giving it a small injury until she'd been able to outrun it.

Now she was cowered under a bed in a room she'd run into, hiding from something new, a horrifying, legless thing, crawling towards her. She really, REALLY hoped it didn't see her. And just her luck, the door she'd shut behind her slowly creaked open, the squeak of the hinges echoing through the room. She saw two hands, and then pull, dragging the creature into the room. It ignored the bed, at first, going towards the other sides of the room, inspecting every corner, but she knew it wouldn't be long before it saw her.

She wanted to scream, but it would only make the thing come faster. Then, her idea came. She waited until it was trying to haul itself up onto the wall to get a better view, before rolling out from under the bed. The thing's eyes locked directly onto her, and it let out a screech as it headed for her. Alexa got to her feet in a second, running outside the room and slamming the door on the creature. It let out another shriek, as it slammed itself into the door, again and again, trying to get out. Alexa stared for a moment, before taking off down the hallway.

She was sure it could get out- it would, sooner or later, but now at least it wouldn't be able to find her… not as easily. She turned down another corner, as the flickering light began to slow, the light staying for longer. She was out of breath, her legs were tired, and she could hear the thing trying to get out, to chase her. To kill her. She kept pushing forwards, turning corner after corner. She hoped the light slowing ment it was almost gone- but then it sped up again. Faster, and faster, light, dark, on, off, on, off. She felt her hands trembling, her heart racing, as she turned, looking around wildly.

Nothing- why were the lights flickering? What was here?! Then, from the corner of her eye, she saw it- another one of the crab-walking one's. She felt her stomach drop as it raced towards her, screeching loudly. She whipped around immediately, running as fast as she could down another hallway.

This place is so confusing, She thought bitterly, How many things can possibly want to kill me at the same time? How do they all seem to know where I am?

She knew she wouldn't be able to outrun it for long, it was clearly faster than her. She looked around as she passed room after room, racing down hallway after hallway. Things were growing worse, she could hear the horrified screaming from behind the doors, voices screaming "STOP!" through their pain. She could hear the gunshots, the deep dark laughter. She kept running, faster, harder, trying to get away, but it was gaining on her. It's odd face looking at her, like it knew she'd be easy to get. Alexa's face twisted in pain as she was a heartbeat away from tripping, filling up with fear. She kept looking for anything to help her- something sharp. She felt her pockets, remembering she'd left the knife in the room.

She cursed under her breath, looking side to side as she passed the rooms, looking for a open door. Her head jerked up, as she saw one: The door was halfway open, and from here, she could see nothing was in there- unless it was hiding.

Better chance than running is, She thought, swerving as the creature behind her jumped. She was able to doge, sending it flying across the floor, before it hit, and jumped back up, heading for her.

She frantically scanned the room, picking up what looked like a bow and arrow on the floor beside something.... She held it, carefully aiming at the thing's face. She didn;t have time to wonder why it was here, or what the chances were of her finding it, or whatever the thing was next to it; she shot the arrow right at the creature's face, sending it backwards. A bright blue blood welled from it's face, and it let out the weirdest howl. It made Alexa plug her ears, trying to block out the sound.

The creature let out another howl, before slowly crumpling to the ground. She froze, wondering if it was dead. She saw it's horrifiying legs still twitching, and guessed it was just knocked out, or dying. She stepped closer, yanking the arrow out of it's face, earning a weak little whine from the thing. She looked curiously, almost feeling… pity?

Yeah, pity for something that's trying to kill you. Wonderful.

She lept over the creature's body, just in case. She didn't waste a second, putting the bow and pouch of arrows over her chest and back. I swear if they're dead, Im going to throw Mason or Gail to the monsters, She thought, walking down the hallways once more, tired and out of breath. She brushed the few strands of hair out of her eyes, focusing on the hallway and the doors, that were now silent. No sounds. No gun shots. No screams, no...nothing. She narrowed her eyes. It was like… almost calm, until some… thing came, and the entire place seemed to know, and start this horror simulation.

Alexa's stomach growler, reminding her of the fierce pain. She nearly fell to the wall, as the sudden relization of starvation washed over her. She blinked a few times, swallowing, trying to calm herself.

Find Jay and Zoey, and you find food. She thought, forcing herself to keep moving. Her feet dragged the hard stone floor, the brick walls loomed over her, reminding her she was nothing but a small person, in a place filled to the brim with… creatures that didnt, shouldn't even be able to exist in the first damn place.

Then she heard it- a scream. She jerked her head up, her eyes wide. Jay. All her hunger and fear were erased as she bolted towards the sound, hearing it get closer and closer. As the doors ended, a set of stairs were in front of her. Another scream. She knew it was Jay. She grabbed the bow, slipping a arrow into the sting, and crept up the stairs.
