Rescue Roundup

Kids still trembling from the thought, Jade struggled to stand up, her bones felt like Jelly.

"W-we have to save them..." Sloan whispered, fear filled her tears. Everyone turned to her, "we have to s-save the horses..." Sloan's arm was purple and black.

River nodded "there is a first aid in the tack room, I saw while we were looking for Mark's phone."

The scientists watched as the kids came up with plans. They decided to shut up as they got dirty looks from most of the younger kids.

Jade finally had the strength the talk "ok. I will take Sloan to the tack room to wrap her arm. The rest of you grab a horse and ride them to the pastures. Just jump on them and run! No time for saddles!" Jade pointed around Ella and Alex "You two open the pasture gates when we head out." Everyone nodded and then all of them went into deep thought and sorrow.

What about the monster? How do we get rid of it? Is it really true on what they said? Are we all going to make it?

River shakes her head "let's go!" River ran out to the exit of the pastures. Everyone followed, time for the rescue roundup.

Jade and Sloan ran on to one side of the barn in the tack room. While River and the rest were unlocking stalls.

River grabbed the black horse she hid in the stall with and hopped on her. She grabbed the lead to another horse and rode out the stall.

Just as she started to head out the nightmare appeared. Hanging from a beam running above the entrance. The monster was horrific to look at as the barn lights lit up it's dark face. It had wrapped it's long rat tail around the beam hanging upside down. A huge grin spread across it's face curving around it's eyes. Rows of teeth flaring, yellow eyes glowing, one was lazy eye. Huge ears, deep ebony-colored fur, the fur that was textured raggy, huge paws with 9 inch claws outstretched. A few quills ran along it's back. The monster was 5 feet tall and 7 feet long.

River's eyes widened but before she could do anything she was on the ground. The mouth smiled as it gripped onto the horses neck. The horse gurgled blood and toppled over throwing River off. River hit the ground on her knee she cried in pain but quickly scrambled up and didn't bother looking back at the horse, she started running to the others. Her knee was screaming at her. "Hel-" she cried as she fell back down.

"River!" Jade yelled, Sloan and Jade just got out of the tack room holding the first aid. Jade and Sloan ran to River and helped her up quickly.

"It's here!!" River cried as Jade looked at the entrance in horror. "R-run!!" River cried pushing Jade forward.

The horses started galloping out of the barn. River and Jade ran as fast as they could along with the horses.

River was limping as fast as she could through the pain, tears, sweat and horse blood covered her face. She couldn't breathe, blood rushing through her veins. River was suddenly trapped into a memory.

Before River knew it, she had fallen.

"Get up!" Jade yelled at her and was pulling her up. River realized where she was and sprung up.

"Is it gone-" River started but was interrupted by a ear piercing scream...
