Ngurah Rai Airport, Denpasar, Indonesia.
The international flight plane from Mexico City had just landed. Dave and Nico rushed to the baggage claim to get their luggage.
"Remember, Dave. We have to keep a secret about our identity over here, as your Daddy said." Nico whispered slowly to remind Dave.
"Yeah, I remember. Don't worry. Anyway, who's gonna recognize us here, lol..." Dave said, grinning like a horse.
Nico stuck out his tongue to Dave.
"Huuuh ... I told you the truth and you just teased me. Let's go to the hotel first to take a rest and wash ourselves. After that, we plan what we will do during the time here."
Kuta Beach on Saturday afternoon looked quite crowded of visitors. Annisa walked slowly down the beach. Feeling the soft sand mix with the sea water in the soles of her feet.
The sun would set on the western horizon immediately. The afternoon sky looked very clean and blue, so the orange-yellow-colored sun was clear and then gradually completely set.
Annisa saw her sport watch in her left hand. It was almost 6 o'clock.
"Hmm ... It seems Ella is coming late again this time," Annisa murmured to herself.
Lately, she had been close to Ella since their travelling with Venus Tour and Travel to Mexico some time ago. Ella, also living in Denpasar, was an attractive and fun girl to be good friend for Annisa.
Suddenly, two hands closed her eyes from behind. Annisa felt the hands, they were smooth and soft. And she smelled the familiar perfume of her best friend lately.
"This must be Ella, the queen of late," Annisa said aloud.
Ella laughed out loud and released her hands. She moved to the front of Annisa and squeezed her friend's nose furiously.
"I'm just late a little, and you called me the queen of late?" protested Ella.
Annisa pinched Ella's left ear by pulling a little up.
"This is a punishment for coming late this afternoon, Lady. You are an hour late. You shouldn't have said it a little," Annisa replied.
"Ouch ... ouch ... forgive me, Nisa ... Sorry ... Yeah, sorry, I'm late again this time. The road really jammed on this Saturday night. That's right. Believe me." Ella tried to explain to Annisa.
"Ah, you keep on reasoning, Ella. I'm sure you will come late for other reasons, won't you?" Annisa screwed her mouth at Ella.
"You're absolutely right, Miss Know Everything About Me Your Friend ... Hahaha ..." Ella shouted as she ran away from Annisa to avoid another onslaught of ear pinching from Annisa.
Annisa ran after Ella leaving left her far ahead.
"Ella, wait!" Annisa shouted, grumbling.
Suddenly out of nowhere, a soccer ball hovered in front of her, scuffling Annisa's forehead. Annisa felt so painful on her head instantly, her body seemed hovering, and then crashed down on the white and cool beach sands.
The sturdy hands grabbed her body gently, placing herself in his arms. Annisa's head rested on his left arm as his right-hand shook Annisa's left shoulder slowly, trying to resuscitate Annisa.
"Miss ... Are you okay?" Asked the man politely.
Annisa slowly opened her eyes, smelled of familiar perfume, but she forgot where she had smelled the perfume.
She saw a handsome man, a Latin descendant, a dark chick-styled haired smiling kindly to her.
Annisa, all of sudden, was blushing because at that moment her face was very close to the young man's face. She tried to remember where she had ever smelled the perfume. Masculine aroma with fruitful nuanced, very fresh and arousing a sensation of passion for anyone nearby. The man's face was not strange in her mind, but she could not remember clearly whether she had seen him before.
The more she tried to remember, the more her head got dizzier. Annisa tried to stand up, her body staggered backward, but the man quickly caught her, so she did not fall for the second time. The man then set her up to sit on a long wooden chair nearby.
Ella came, running from a distance. While panting, Ella asked repeatedly for an explanation, either to Annisa directly or to the stranger beside her.
"Nisa ... are you okay? What is wrong? What really happened?"
"Hi, I'm Dave. So sorry if I speak broken Bahasa Indonesia. I just visited here recently. But I've learned a bit about conversations in Bahasa Indonesia."
Dave tried to introduce himself to Ella who was watching him closely, from head to toe, and made Dave feel a little embarrassed.
"I saw this Lady ran to a group of children playing soccer by the beach. Unintentionally, a kid kicked the ball at this Lady and about right to her head," Dave explained with a halt.
Annisa nodded slowly to confirm Dave's explanation and said to her best friend, "Yes Ella, I was not careful and did not see the soccer ball flying into my direction. A good thing was there was Dave who immediately helped me." Annisa looked at Dave with a smile.
"Thank you so much, Dave. I'm Annisa. This is my best friend, Ella. Nice to meet you."
Annisa reached her hand to Dave. Dave wiped his right hand first into his blue jeans shorts he was wearing. His palm was a little sweaty and sand leftover sticking on it while helping Annisa.
Dave welcomed Annisa's hand with a little shiver. Annisa's white hand was very soft for Dave's rather rugged yet warm and comfortable palm.
"With pleasure, Annisa. Nice to meet both of you here."
Dave looked so happy because Annisa could already smile back. The smile he had been waiting for, the sweet little smile he'd been longing for, the pretty smile that always stopped in his dreams every night. Eventually, what Dave wished for was granted. It was not in vain he came all the way from his country to finally meet with Annisa.
Nico watched from a distance the three people who enjoyed chatting and shared smiles. He was happy for his best friend meeting with the girl he wanted. Indeed, he really wanted to approach them and join in their conversation. But, he realized it was not the time for him to come up. Not that evening. He did not want to spoil the plan he had arranged with Dave to get that beautiful girl. At that moment, Nico had been quite satisfied by just looking at them from a distance.
Villa Bagus, Kuta, Bali.
There was a sound of the key of the hotel room door being opened. Dave strolled into the room whistling merrily. His face looked very radiant for being illuminated by the bright lights of the hotel room.
"Ahem ..." Nico faked a small cough.
"How was the meeting, Dave? Did it run as we plan?" Nico asked for Dave's explanation.
"Your idea was really brilliant. Nico is a maestro as a director and very good at organizing everything from the backstage. Bravo! Bravo!" Dave applauded loudly.
"It was fortunate, everything went well. I had got a moment of panic when the boy kicked a soccer ball at Annisa too tightly. I was afraid Annisa was really hurt. Luckily, she's okay. It looked the boy was too eager to act out our directions," Nico said with a small laugh.
"Nico, have you settled the fees to the children?" asked Dave to remind Nico.
"It's done, boss. Don't worry. I also have warned them to shut their mouths up to anybody about it." Nico raised his right thumb with a big smile.
Annisa glanced over the ceiling of her apartment room while lying on the bed. She recalled the meeting with Dave that evening. While smiling slightly, Annisa imagined Dave's handsome face, his crunchy and friendly voice, his charming smile, and his athletic body. She had never met a man as perfect as Dave before.
Her heart was tickling, warm but comfortable. It was a familiar feeling when she met the man from the Latin country. But, Annisa has not been able to find what caused it so far. The more she remembered, the more she felt annoyed by herself.
In a flash, she thought of an unfinished article. Sprightly, she jumped out of her bed, pulled out a chair and sat down at her favorite metal workbench.
Annisa turned on her laptop and started looking for writing ideas on search engines on the internet. While searching for references for her writings she had already obtained, her mobile phone on the right side of his laptop shook smoothly.
Annisa concentration dissolved abruptly. She immediately grabbed her cell phone and read the received message. Evidently, it was from Ella.
"Nisa, what are you doing? Have you finished the task of your article for this week yet? Don't think about Dave all the time! Hahaha ..." How come Ella teased her at this late night.
"Yeah, I am in the middle of looking for ideas for the article. Go to sleep! It disturbed me. P.S. Just kidding! Hahaha ..." Nisa replied a message to her best friend.
Without realizing, Annisa's hand slid open the list of phone numbers on her cell phone and looked for someone's name there. Dave.
At the meeting that afternoon, they exchanged cell phone numbers and promised each other that they would be connected. Even, they would arrange the next meeting if there was a chance.
Annisa wondered what Dave was doing there.
She really wanted to send a short message to Dave asking about it. But, Annisa discouraged.
They had just met that day. Her pride overcame his intention to contact Dave first. Anyway, it was late. It was not good for a woman to send a message late at night to a man she had just met. Annisa decided to wait for Dave to call her.
Maybe tomorrow, she mumbled hopefully.
She started moving her fingers on his laptop keyboard and started typing. Her fingers danced in her mood.
Annisa was aware that she should finish the article task that nigh. But, her conscience said something else. He would rather choose to write poetry that time.
Tell me, oh a quiet night, is he thinking of me tonight. Tell me, the star shining brightly, what's on his mind now. Whisper to me, the moon the night-watch, what he was doing to come after the night. Send him oh the goddess of dreams, greetings from me waiting for the idol.
Annisa was instantly stunned after she finished writing her poems. A strange feeling made her heart tremble. Her stomach was tempestuous, as if a butterfly was dancing, inviting her to dance.
"Am I falling in love?" Thought Annisa.
She shook his head doubtfully. "Impossible. I just met him. How could I feel like falling in love so momentarily?" Annisa murmured to herself. "But ... Is this what people call being in love at the first sight?" Annisa again asked herself.
She shook her head hard, and decided to concentrate on the article task needed to be completed that night.
Dave looked up at the clear sky that night through the balcony of his hotel room. The atmosphere at that night was cool enough, but the atmosphere in Dave's heart was warm, as warm as his feelings after meeting Annisa that day.
He had been waiting for this meeting for a long time, and the day he wished for finally came true. He was very grateful to meet his idolized girl, but he had no idea how to express his feelings to Annisa.
Dave wanted to say his deepest gratitude for Annisa's priceless deed for rescuing him in the previous time.
But, he did not want Annisa to feel uncomfortable or even fearful of his existence. Since his recklessness of flying from Mexico to Indonesia just to find Annisa, according to Dave and Nico, would make Annisa misunderstood of their goals.
It was rare for someone was willing to do so, coming all the way to the nowhere country just to say thank you, as well as more unreasonable excuses that Dave and Nico might have thought possible that might make Annisa thinking suspiciously about Dave.
There was also something else that limited Dave to be completely honest with Annisa. He had promised to his father not to divulge his identity to anyone during the stay in Indonesia.
Although, Dave is not convinced that Le Coyote group intended to follow him to Indonesia and would harm him here, but he had to keep his promise firmly.
"A true Moreno man is one who can keep his promise and keep the words he has vowed." His father repeated his words in Dave's ear.
Beep, beep.
A short message was received in Annisa's mobile phone in the morning. Annisa, enjoying her breakfast, stopped for a moment her bite on her delicious and appetizing homemade toast with scrambled eggs and cow sausage. She then stood from his dining table chair and walked to his desk, where his cell phone was placed.
"Good morning, a beautiful lady. How was your night? I hope you're doing well this morning." Dave.
Annisa smiled widely. His chest swelled with joy. What a wonderful thing to start the day. And she replied to Dave's message.
"Good morning, Mr. kind. I slept soundly last night, asleep as a baby. Thanks. I hope you're doing well this morning." Nisa.
Annisa then backed to dining table for her breakfast. Immediately, while she was drinking her hot cocoa coffee with his favorite chocolate grains, her cell phone rang loudly breaking the silence of morning. Nisa almost choked when she saw the caller name on the screen. Dave.
"Hello ..." Annisa answered the phone with a thumping chest. She felt his mood unfavorable.
"Buenos Dias Senorita, how are you this morning?" Said Dave softly and enchanting voice.
"Good news, Dave. Thank you. How are you?" Annisa asked.
"It's been great this morning Nisa, thanks. Have you got breakfast? This morning, I and my friend, Nico, strolled to the Kuta market, and I found tipat cantok there. It tasted good too." Dave told enthusiastically.
"Really? Tipat cantok? Do you like the taste, Dave?" Annisa laughed a little, surprised that Dave liked traditional Balinese food. "I'd got breakfast with toast and milk coffee. My stomach is full now. Hehe ..." Annisa said shyly.
"What's your plan on this sunny Sunday, Nisa? If you have no plan, I would like to visit Dreamland Beach in Pecatu. You can invite Ella if you want. The more friends, the more fun." Dave invited with anxious hope.
"Umm ... I still have no plan for today, Dave. All right, I'd like to. I'll invite Ella, then. She would be happy to take a walk in the beach. Please be advised, both of us are beach lovers, ha ha ha! ..." Annisa tried to laugh to hide her joy because she will soon go along with Dave that day.
Dave almost shouted happily because Annisa accepted her invitation. He set the tone of his voice so that it was not obvious for his feelings at that time.
"Well then, Nisa. I'll get ready first. I'll be picking you up at your apartment soon." Dave hung up his cell phone and jumped up and down like a kid getting his favorite toy.
Nico shook his head at the sight of his best friend.
"What about today's plans, Nico? Is everything settled? Don't let anything missed from the initial plan!" Dave asked to make sure.
"It's all done, Boss. The car is alright. Reservation of the place is sorted out. The sun loungers are sorted out. The restaurant is sorted out. The game is all right. All plans are ready and waiting to be done." Nico said steadily.
