Chapter 13- The Cursed Scythe

As I headed towards my dorm room, I tried to forget what I just saw in my head, but I couldn't. It had to be wrong, it just had to.

I opened our door and saw everyone waiting for me. My brother apparently was transferred to our dorm room which was kinda big.

Everyone started to walk towards me, asking what happened since they didn't see me all day.

"I'm sorry for worrying you guys, but can I go to sleep. It felt like I spent the day in a prison." I said. What they didn't know was that I actually did spend the day in prison.

We all went to our rooms and slept. I for one couldn't sleep. The whole night, I found myself dreaming about me conquering the world, fighting my own friends.

I didn't want to sleep anymore to stop dreaming about it.

I woke up the next morning with bags under my eyes. You could tell that I didn't sleep at all. Everyone thought that the prophecy was over because my grandfather had died. But I knew that it was only beginning.

I didn't tell anyone about my visions because I thought that they will lock me up again. But they did see the worried look on my face.

We ate in silence in the cafeteria. Finally, someone broke the awkwardness.

"So, you guys excited to finally get picked by a faction?" Someone asked. I noticed that it was Jon.

"Faction? What is that?" I asked.

"Oh I forgot that you weren't here yesterday." Jon said. "We were told that we had to a certain group of people will be picking a few students that has something their looking for."

"Right, I remember now, the three factions are the Reapers, Hunters, and Knights. Reapers want students who are strong, always improving and never failing. Hunters want students who can analyze any situation and act on it. Knights are looking for brave warriors who would do anything to protect." Gabbie said.

I took this all in. I was definitely not getting into the Knights, I was basically destined to raise an army of undead and wreak havoc on everyone.

That left the other two, the Reapers and the Hunters. I was kind of leaning towards the Reapers than the Hunters. Reapers are for people who seek strength. The Hunters faction was for incredibly smart people, anyone who could do a task perfectly.

"The leaders of the three factions are the strongest super powered people in the world. They will be personally training you." Adrian added.

This caught my attention. If I was trained by one of the strongest people in the world, I would definitely be strong in no time.

"Who is the strongest of the three?" I asked.

"No one knows, it is rumoured that they are all equal in strength and was taught under one master who is now dead. But I believe that the Reapers leader is strongest." Gabbie said.

"What do we have to do to get in? Fight someone?" I asked.

"I don't know, they never told us that part. One kid even asked and the question was turned down."

I felt a pain in my neck, something was bothering me. It was like there was something inside my body, something new. Then I remembered that my grandfather said that he left me his power.

"Guys, I'm going down to the arena to train, I'll see you all later." I said.

I headed down there but noticed that it was all booked for the afternoon. Probably because everyone wanted to impress the factions.

I went to look elsewhere that was secluded. I went inside my shadow and visited every spot in the school until I noticed a room that looked like it was abandoned. It was very far underground and dark and dusty.

I looked around since I had perfect vision in the dark. I noticed a date on a piece of paper: 1896. No one probably knows that this exists.

"This is the perfect place to train, it was a big room that no one knows about. This could be my little "man cave" for now." I told myself.

I finally remembered why I was there. To test out if I really did have the power of death. I touched the mark on my neck. It started to glow red and I quickly let go.

Once I did, I felt something growing from my hand. The mark on my neck started to grow to my hands. A black and red scythe that was about 17o centimetres tall and had a very sharp point formed out of nowhere.

I didn't know what to do with it. I never used a scythe before.

I tested it out, swinging it around like a maniac. It was my first time with a scythe as a weapon and it already seemed like I can easily fight anyone with it. I was very familiar with it.

I saw some pieces of metal lying around. I threw a piece into the air and immediately went in for the slice. As fast as a cheetah, I swung the scythe towards the metal scrap and it was cut easily.

I tried this with my daggers but it didn't do as much damage. It definitely didn't cut it in half. I was now wondering if this was from my grandfather.

Then, I had an idea. I had an extra device from my daggers. I put it on the scythe and now I had a scythe I can throw and recall back with my shadows.

I was now very powerful. I would definitely make it into the Reapers faction now. I just needed to train more in here.

I started to feel the pain in my neck again, this time more painful than ever. I screamed, hoping that the pain would stop.

I closed my eyes and gritted my teeth. I didn't know how long I did that for. A few minutes later, the pain has stopped and I opened my eyes.

I realized that I was back in the dorm rooms. I looked around and saw a red substance on the wall. I saw red handprints everywhere as if someone was trying to run away from me.

Finally, I saw someone on the floor with large cuts on their chests. I tried to apply pressure to it to stop the bleeding, but I knew that I lost them.

I looked at my scythe and saw that it was bloodied.

Then I noticed who the dead person was. It looked like I just killed my friend... Adrian.
