Chapter 14- Before the Murder

I stood there, frozen with clothes that have been stained with blood. I knelt down and looked at my friends wounds and my scythe.

It was obvious that I've killed him. I looked at the walls with red handprints all over. I assumed that he didn't defend himself or he was caught by surprise otherwise he would've healed himself.

I could see glimpses of the horror that has taken place in here. My friend, trying to run away and holding his chest that had a huge cut across it. I knew that I only had a few minutes before someone else came in.

I looked at Adrians body, still and lifeless. His skin was now pale due to the blood loss. But still, I felt something that allured me to it.

It felt like it was drawing to me, pulling me closer. Finally, my hand held my scythe up and stabbed the corpse again. I told myself not to do it, but I had no control anymore.

Suddenly, the scythe began to glow with red in its dark as night blade. Adrians corpse, now has flies surrounding it, began to shake.

I cried, not knowing what I did to my best friend. I looked at my hands and started punching the walls.

"What have I done", I whispered silently to myself.

That was when my friend stood up. His pupil now had a slight red glow to it. His body still looked pale and lifeless, but the wound seemed to be healing.

He started to kneel on one knee.

"My master, thank you for resurrecting me. I owe you my life." He said.

I looked at my friend, but I knew that it wasn't Adrian anymore. Master? What was he talking about?

"What are you? Who are you?" I asked, still confused.

"I am a lost soul that has been put in this body. And that is because of you, my master."

I started to look up and down at my friend. My friend was lost and replaced by this person I did not know.

"If I am your master, then bring me back my friend." I said.

"I'm sorry, but that would be impossible. He is now a lost soul." He said. "He now resides inside your scythe until he is called upon and brought back in another body."

I started to panic and walked around in circles. I kept whispering to myself, "why, why, why? Why is this happening to ME?!"

But I knew the answer to that. This was happening to me because of the prophecy, I was destined to kill all those who opposed me in my grandfathers plan.

I put my scythe back into my neck. Slowly, the Death Mark started to shrink into my neck along with the scythe.

I looked at the mess in our dorms.

"Well, we better start cleaning I guess." I said.

Adrian started to clean along with me. My friend was now my little servant.

As I looked into his eyes, I couldn't see any sign of life anymore. He didn't care about anything as long as he did his masters wishes.

We finally scrubbed and washed every single spot in the room. There wasn't any evidence that there was a murder here.

But I knew that it wouldn't be too long before they started to notice that Adrian was acting weird.

I had to fix my little zombie butler. And right now, I had just the right person who could help me. I had to visit a new friend, Alexander.

It took me a few minutes before I found his dorm room. when I knocked on his door, no response came. I knocked again and this time, a girl answered the door.

"What do you want?" She said.

"I'm looking for Alexander. I need his help with a little problem." I answered.

"Well I don't know where he is. He hasn't been here the whole day. Anyways, I better get going to class."

"Crap! I also have to go to class." I was now almost late and was probably going to get punished.

The last three days, I have been excused to miss class because of travelling to New York. But I totally forgot that I have classes again.

I rushed to my first class, physical education and I looked at the time on my phone. I was so close to being late and I was still quite far away from the gymnasium.

I went into my shadows and teleported there once I got tired.

Once I got out, I was out of breath and laying on the ground while some students doing push ups got startled.

"Yes! I made it on time!" I realized that I didn't recognize any of the students there. "What? Where is everybody?"

"Mr. Reyes! It's second period right now, you missed my class and your interrupting this one. I believe that you have science right now at the lab with Mr. Balwinder. Meet me after school for detention." Coach McConnell said.

"Sorry coach!" I yelled, while running to the lab.

I desperately ran towards the lab since it wasn't that far away.

Then, i remembered that I didn't need to go to class and I just needed to find Alexander to travel back in time.

I ran around the whole campus until I finally found him, sitting on a bench and eating a sandwich.

"Alexander, thank god I found you." I said. "I need your help with a little problem."

He looked at me, like he already knew the problem. But he just went along with it.

"So, let me guess. You need my ability to go back in time before you killed Adrian. Been there done that, but sure I'll help you again." He said.

I was confused, he said that he's already helped me with my problem before. Just who is this Alexander?

Without any permission or anything, he grabbed my hand.

"Don't worry, while people are rewinding, we won't be."

I looked around and saw people walking backwards. Even Alexander's sandwich slowly formed back again, but of course, he had to throw up.

I looked at the time on my phone. It wasn't 1:00 anymore, it said 11:16. This was the exact moment I killed Adrian.

I ran towards my dorm where I found Adrian peacefully eating his food.

"What's wrong, it looks like you just saw a ghost." He said.

     "I'm sorry Adrian." I said.

"Sorry? What for?" He asked. I waved my hand, dismissing the question.

"Don't worry, I fixed it. Come on, we might be late for science."

He smiled at me, a red glow in his eyes that was slowly going away.

"I think I have a new weapon. I'll discuss it with you and the rest of the group in science." I said.

We walked to the lab and sat down in our assigned seats. It's only been two weeks, it feels like it's been forever.

Once the class was over, it was time to go in a little break before the next class. This was my chance to show everyone my scythe.

I touched my neck and felt something running through my right arm. Suddenly, the black mark on my neck started to spread and the scythe came with it.

Once Adrian looked at the scythe, I noticed that he started to shake and started to touch his chest.

"That's impossible", I thought, "he can't remember it since it never happened."

But everything was fine, I continued to show my friends the scythe, which was now a little taller than me.

"Seriously? Your always blessed with these types of things." Jon said.

"I'm definitely not blessed. This scythe is a curse", I thought.

They looked at my arm, which was now black and red. I would actually like the scythe, if it didn't occasionally possess my body and go on a killing spree.

I started showing them some fighting moves with the scythe. I spun it around and started slashing the air. I passed it around from one hand to another and did two low cuts.

I ended it off with me jumping in the air and striking the cement pavement.

They noticed that it left a crack in the Earth.

"Hey, can I try?" Axel asked.

He tried to grab it, but failed. It was like the scythe didn't want him holding it.

This time, Jon tried it. He also failed since he said that it was too heavy.

"Maybe it's only compatible with me" I said.

We heard a bell ringing and knew that it was time for our next class. What we didn't know was that our next class is what will be determining which faction we  are joining.
