45 MINS LATER...

"Victory!" I cheered, skipping out of the leader's room. I walked downstairs and stopped dead in my tracks. It was chaos. The alarm bell was ringing and everyone was rushing towards the exit. I can see Xan fighting 5 bulky strong guards on his own. One guard pulled out his rifle. "Nonononono!" I screamed. I ran towards him and threw my dagger, it hit the guard's heart. He fell to the floor, dead. Xan turned around and gave me a tired smile, "Hey chica, are you okay ?" I nodded whilst stabbing another guard in his head. We managed to kill all the guards successfully without getting hurt. I let out a little laugh, "Finally ! This place stinks !" Xan grinned, "Let's get out of this shitty place, yeah ?" I nodded, exhausted. He gently took my hand in his and lead me to the entrance. I didn't defend this time. "BANG BANG BANG!" three shots were fired unexpectedly. "DODGE !" I screamed and pushed Xan onto the floor whilst doing the same. "Who the hell is shooting ? I thought everyone's either dead or outside." I stood up and turned around, only to see my mother and father holding a gun on their hands. "What are you guys doing here ? Leave ! It's dangerous !" Despite the fact that I hated their guts, I didn't want them to get hurt. "Silly silly Akïla. Don't you understand ?" my mother laughed, walking towards me. Xan crawled up and stood beside me. "Don't trust them." he said warily. "I thought you were the smartest one among your siblings. Guess I was wrong." my mother continued. "What are you talking about ? Why are you two here ? Aren't you in the headquarters ? And why are you two holding a gun ?" I scrunched up my face in confusion. "Don't you understand Akïla ? They're the ones who fired the bullets ! They wanted to kill us !" Xan yelled into my ear. I signaled him to shut up and I turned to my parents. "Is it true ?" I asked with a trembling voice. "Unfortunately yes, Kils. We are here to kill you and your fiancé." "Why ? What did I ever did to you ? Is it because I refused to take over the family business ? I am an assassin now !" I bawled, feeling my sanity gradually disappearing. "YOU KILLED MY CHILD !" "What a sick family." Xan muttered under his breath. "You wouldn't dare to shoot your own daughter. Will you ?" I asked in a sudden calm manner, the color on my face completely drained out. "Technically yes, I would love to. But you're still useful. But say good bye to your fiancé." my father laughed sinisterly and pulled the trigger. I screamed in horror, "NO !" Everything was in slow motion. The bullet was flying towards Xan, piercing the air as they flew. I pushed him out of the way and took the shot for him. Sharp pain impaled through my stomach. Xan yelled, "AKÏLA !" I glanced at him, "I...I" I couldn't form a word and crumbled to the floor. My parents disappeared behind the glass door, leaving me and Xan. Xan rushed towards me, kneeled down and lay my head on his lap. "Why are you so stupid and selfish? WHY ? WHY DID YOU TAKE THE FUCKING BULLET ? It was meant for me !" He cried. He frantically looked around and muttered,"We need to get an ambulance here, Akïla...wake up ! Can you hear me ?" He shook me and patted my face, "Stay with me chica. Akïla stay with me !" I groaned and squeezed my eyes. "You'll be fine chica hold on... we need to call an ambulance and we need to perform a surgery..." He muttered, panicking. "I should call the cops. No no no... wake up Akïla wake up !" "Calm down Xan ! I'm wearing a bulletproof vest ! I'll be fine, but for the love of god please stop shaking me !" I fluttered my eyes open and howled. "What the fuck ?" he muttered unbelievably, pushing me to the ground. "Careful you douchebag. I'm still shot !" I groaned and glared at him. "Come on, let's get you out of here." He leaned down and swooped me up, carrying me in his arms. "We're going to the hospital." "No hospitals...Asher's a doctor. He'll help me." I mumbled. "Alright alright you feisty one." "After this I need to figure out what my mother had said. I killed her child ? How ?" "Don't think too much. Rest first." Xan said soothingly. "We're going home."
