"I'm just telling Raven that you peed your pants at 12 because you thought there was a monster under your bed after you watched a horror movie !" I doubled over in laughter and Raven joined in, giggling slightly. "You're such a meanie ! You forced me to watch the movie with you and then you came into my room at 3:00 am and screamed in my ear ! How deranged are you ?" Asher scoffed. "Very." My eyes darkened. Asher glared back at me. "What are we eating ? I'm starving." Raven changed the subject. "Xan's cooking downstairs. I'll go help him." Asher muttered and left the room. "Why are you so harsh on him ?" Raven broke the silence. "I do love him. Very much. I... It's just that I don't know how to express my feelings. It's like there's some kind of physical barrier between me and everyone. I'm not normal, I know that. I'm afraid that one day, I might hurt everyone I love. So I push everyone away. I rather they hate me than them being hurt." She smiled kindly and put a hand on my shoulder, "It's okay not to be normal. I mean, look at me." She shrugged, "I am not normal too. I'm a doctor at daytime and secretly a part of the gang at night." I let out a small giggle despite the situation. "I know, and I understand how hard everything it is for you. I mean, you have to take care of your brother and having your parent's betray you. I know nothing I say will lessen your pain, but talking to someone really helps. And you just have to find out the good in everything. Asher told me that your angel eyes see the goods in many devils. You'll live easier like that. Also, you can talk to me in anytime." I strained my lips into a tired smile, "Thank you, Raven. I appreciate that. Really." "All the talking made me hungry." She yawned. "Let's get you downstairs." I offered my hand to her and helped her stand up. She draped her hand across my shoulders and grabbed the rail firmly with her right hand. I supported her weight and we staggered downstairs. "Asher !" I struggled. "Come help your girlfriend, she's heavy !" "Hey ! I work out every week !" Raven pouted. Asher rushed to my aid and scooped Raven up. "PUT ME DOWN !" she screamed while hitting him on the chest. "Where are we going ?" he ignored her cries.  "To eat." I shooed him with my hands. He walked towards the dinning room and set her down gently on a chair. "Calm down, butterfly." Asher kissed her forehead gently. Raven's face heated up "Aw, you two are so cute together." I swooned. "Lunch's ready !" Xan came out holding several plates, the delicious smell of pasta waffled into my nose. "It smells amazing..." Asher commented. I could basically see drool dripping down from his mouth. "I'm going to make coffee. Anyone want some ?" I announced while heading towards the kitchen. "One for me and one for Raven please." Asher piped up. "Still black coffee with two cubes of sugar ?" "You got it. My favourite." I smiled and turned to Raven. "How about you ?" "She called me heavy. I am not having a coffee." She crossed her arms and pouted. "Akila !" Asher scowled. "Hey hey ! Don't talk to my fiancée like that !" Xan protested. "Oh blonde is mad..." "I'm not..." I smiled at my family, remembering what Raven had said. Your angel eyes see the goods in many devils... Everything is getting better. At least that's what I thought.

I woke up later that night and sat up, my stomach grumbling. "I'm hungry." I muttered under my breath. Ever since I had been sleeping with Xan, those nightmares didn't come out to haunt me anymore. I stepped on the wooden floor and it creaked. I glanced back to check whether I had woken Xan up. No. He's snoring. Peacefully. I crept downstairs quietly, making sure that I didn't disturb anyone. I tiptoed to the kitchen and took out a cup, pouring milk in it. "What do you mean no ?" I almost jumped out of my skin, spilling the milk in process. I set my cup on the counter and patted my chest. That voice belonged to Raven. And she's talking to her phone ? I squinted my eyes to see the figure standing outside the kitchen door. Instead of midnight black hair that was suppose to blend into the dark, she had platinum blonde hair, almost white. It shone brightly in the moonlight. My mouth fell open and I rubbed my eyes twice to make sure I wasn't seeing things. So, Raven has blonde hair ? How ? I shook my head in confusion. Who's she talking to in 2 am in the morning ? I hid my body behind the kitchen door and listened to her conversation. "What do you mean NO ?" she repeated, her voice laced with anger. "I don't need your fucking excuses, bitch. Just give me my money !" I widened my eyes. So she swears. That's interesting. "I need the money ! Right now ! Don't you dare tell me to wait for a few more days !" She paced around impatiently like a lion hunting for her prey. She turned towards my direction and I ducked my head just in time. I peeped outside the door and through the dim light of her phone, I could see that her original forest green eyes were now blue. Striking electric blue eyes, like ice. She pinched her forehead and growled quietly, "You should watch your tone when you speak with me, I -" She was silent for a few seconds. Then, her voice suddenly turned soft, almost like a plea, "No no, don't hurt him. I love him, please don't hurt him. I'll do anything." The phone call ended and she dropped her head into her palms, letting out a sob. Then she wiped her tears and climbed upstairs, disappearing in my sight. I walked out of the kitchen cautiously, with a million thoughts racing in my mind. What money ? Who is she working for ? Why does she have blonde hair ? Her eyes were originally blue ? Or green ? Who's the he she's talking about ? Is she dangerous ? Should I protect Asher and Xan from her ? Is Raven really her name ? I sighed and trudged upstairs also, exhaustion washing over me. I hit the bed and squeezed my eyes shut, trying to fall asleep. But those thoughts kept me tossing and turning the whole night.
