Akïla's POV
My mother wants to kill me ? My very own mother ? WHAT HAVE I DONE ? What have I done to deserve this pain ? I can't take this anymore. I could hold the heartbreak no longer and I fell to the floor in a disheveled heap as my grief poured out in a flood of uncontrollable tears. I removed my knife from Lily's neck and untied her. Slowly, I placed the blade on her hand. She glanced me in confusion. "Kill me." She shook her head, "No." My throat tightened and I grabbed her hand, placing the knife under my chin. "I'm not asking you. I'm telling you to kill me. Finish your job, Tanaka." Lily widened her eyes but she didn't release her grip on the weapon. The knife sat precariously on my skin, soft enough to not pierce my neck, hard enough to enforce the intended message. The harsh metal should have been cold and raw against my bare skin, but my numb body could not feel anything except for the excruciating pain of my mother's betrayal. My throat and heart held in a silver grasp, and all I could do was stare lifelessly at the icy eyes that held the blade and a terrifying coldness I had never seen before. I had always thought her eyes were green, but looking at them now I could see no trace of the vibrancy they once held, no trace of the girl I once knew. It was cold, empty, just what a killing machine would have.
Trembling, I tipped my chin up into the sharpened edge, tempting her to end my anguish, half hoping she would. A small stream of blood trickled from the feeble cut that I could not feel, she did not flinch or remove her eyes from mine. "That's right." I whispered."Kill me." Her gaze hardened and pressed the blade further to my neck, and I gently closed my eyes, a relieved smile forming on my lips. I can finally escape everything. That's it. No more toxic family and parents. I just wish I have spent more time with Ash and Xan. "I can't do it." She looked away and dropped the knife onto the floor. I kneeled on the floor while clutching my neck, gasping for air. Lily tore her shirt in half and wrapped it around my neck. "Why ?" I gazed at her weakly. "You are my family, Kïla. I will never hurt my family." She sighed. "Quit lying !" She rolled her eyes and sat down next to me, "I may seem like a psychopath, but I have feelings too. My parents died when I was 6, and I have never felt warmth ever again. When someone is nice to me, I'll be kind to them. I really care about you, Akïla. You are like a sister to me." I lay on the floor, "I don't know who to trust anymore." "I'll tell you everything, just trust me this once. The other 'you', the Crudus Homocida is creating a lot of troubles for your parents. Remember that night, when you murdered a lot of people ?" I groaned, "Yeah..." "People are terrified. You were named the bloody killer, and Ophelia and Eric were labeled as 'The Bloody Killer's parents'. Everyone despise the both of them. Said they created a murderer. So, Ophelia hired me to assassinate you. She thinks that the problem can be solved." I laughed dryly, "Wow, that's right, problem solved ! Bruh I'm still here." "You have to fight back." She crossed her arms. "I thought you are working for them ?" I narrowed my eyes. "Not exactly." "I don't understand ?" I stared at her. "Yes, I was working for your parents, but I was undercover. It was all planned by the police." She extended her hand. "I'm detective Lily Tanaka." "WHAT THE HECK ?" I exclaimed in shock. "We've been onto your parents for years. We believe they're running an illegal operation internationally. We need you to take her down." She stood up while pulling me up with her. "We're going to win this war."
