CHAPTER 54

XAVIER'S POV

"Why did you call me to the park? Couldn't we just meet up at either of our houses? It's so cold."

I called Ophelia right after finding the stack of papers. She picked the call up after a few seconds. I didn't tell her anything much on the call. The park was the only safe place to meet if we had to discuss something this grave.

She wore her hair in a loose braid, a few strands framing her long face. Her eyes shone in the sunshine as she pulled the sleeves of her white sweater down. Her cascaded down her hips as her slender figure came into my view.

I could tell just by the way she walks that she's insecure; her shoulders were hunched over as if hiding the treasure inside of her. Her footsteps were light and timid as she slowly approaches, watching me through skittish wide eyes. I could only imagine what might be going through her mind. I know those thoughts all too well.
