CHAPTER 55

OPHELIA'S POV

"Thank you so much, Xavier. I really really really loved the journal. Thank you."

In his arms, I felt at home. Like the moon had finally returned to its sun. The warmth of his embrace made me forget about all my worries. His arms were hesitant at first, but in a moment or two, they wrapped tightly around me. One of his hands went to my hair as he stroked it gently.

He didn't know how much I loved this gift. How much I appreciated it. It wasn't the book that made me so emotional. His little gesture, his nervousness, and most of all his choice were what knocked these emotions right out of me.

He had seen the shriveled notebook I wrote my poems in that night. I snuggled into his shoulders and involuntary sniffed his hair. He smelled like fresh laundry. His clean scent felt like the ocean waves had washed over me. It felt like home.

"Did y-you just sniff me?"
