"...fine..if you're not back in 15 minutes, I'll come looking for you." I said. "Don't bother." Neo made his way around a corner.

(Y/n)'s POV
Bang! Came from the door. My sister flinched. Right now, I was locked up in my room with my little sister. I had a window, but my room was 4 floors up, and my little sister was too afraid of heights. I had no idea what to do.
We barricaded the door with my bed and a cabinet, but who knows how long that'll hold. I was curled up in the corner, hugging my little sister as she silently cried. I patted her back trying to calm her.
I don't have any rope and not enough blankets for the way down. I don't think I'd be able to jump without breaking something and Yui is only 8. Right now, the only "weapon" I have in my room is a small plank of wood that I managed to tear off from my bed. Looking over everything, I'd say...were screwed.
I think I only heard 2 or 3 zombies outside, but it's hard enough taking one down!
I continued thinking of ways to escape. The noise outside faded all of a sudden. It was just silence. "W-why is it quiet, big sister?" Yui asked. I shrugged but put my finger to my lips to tell her to be quiet.
Suddenly, a knock came on my door.
"..."
"(Y/n), are you there?" I heard. I couldn't quite tell who's voice it was, because it was muffled. I got up and took a blanket, then I covered Yui and made my way to the door. "Who's there?.." I mumbled. "...open the door." The voice said.
It's risky, but the person knows my name. And I no longer hear the undead... I'll take the risk.
I struggled to move the bed over. Yui came to help me, but I told her to go back under the blanket in case. After moving the bed, I began on the cabinet. Soon enough, I had cleared off the barricade. Taking a deep breath, I gripped my plank of wood and opened the door.
"Neo?" I asked. There he stood, he held a bloody axe and I saw 2 beheaded undead on the ground. "Were you planning on letting yourself rot in there?" He remarked. "Hmph, I would've thought up something sooner or later. Anyways, where'd you get the axe?" I asked. "Found it in your shed in the backyard." He replied.
"We have to go." He began walking. "W-wait! I have a few things to get." I answered. He stared at me for a moment, "Fine, Make it quick." Neo leaned against the door.
I ran to the corner and found Yui, "It's fine, come out. There's a boy around my age waiting at the door, wait with him." I told her. She did as told and I went over to my closet. I took a small backpack out and ran to my private bathroom. I packed my pills and my mini first aid kit.
I already had packed a bag with necessary things for survival in case I needed to run away in a hurry.
"Okay, I have everything." I walked beside Neo as we made our way out the mansion. Suddenly, I felt myself falling over. Neo caught me, "S-sorry, feeling kinda weak, I didn't take my pills this morning, hehe." I apologized. "Still haven't told me what those pills are for." He slung my arm around his shoulder and helped support me. I apologize again. "It's nothing serious, really."
Occasionally, Neo had to use the axe to kill wandering undead, but the trip out was quite easy. Most of our maids sleep in one room in the basement. There's a door in front of the stairs from the basement.
~~~~~~
"Neo, your back!" A man ran to him. That's Noah Collins, is it? Neo's dad, I think. I've passed him in the hallway before in the Collin's mansion... "Who're these two?" The man turned to Neo. Neo stayed silent.
"You made us wait and put us in danger to save what, your girlfriend ?!" Another man in the car snarled at Neo.
Something tells me this dude will die first. He's already pissing me off. And I am most definitely NOT Neo's Girlfriend!
"Who next? Your gonna make us stop for your bestfriend!?" The man continued snarling. "She is my bestfriend." Neo retorted. The man opened his mouth again before, "Ian, Shut it. The girl looks skinny enough to squeeze in between the car door and Li, and the little kid can sit on her lap." The other man cut him off.
The man turned back to me, "Sorry for the asshole's behaviour. I'm Noah Collins, and you?" He took his hand out. I stared at him for a few seconds before shaking his, "(Y/n) (l/n), this is my little sister, Yui. Thank you for allowing us to come with you." I said.
"Get in the car, we have to keep moving." Neo said to you. "Ah, right!" I answered. "You consider me your bestfriend?" I asked him. "You're my only friend. I don't much of a choice, do I?" He replied. That'd sound sad if he didn't add that second sentence, and he doesn't really try talking with others at school.
Neo helped me in the car and I was able to squeeze in. A purple-haired woman offered to let Yui sit on her lap instead because Iva was small enough to give room for two on her lap.
I saw the blonde woman giving Neo an unamused look, a familiar look that hit very close to home. Something tells me she might be having a "talk" with Neo about me and Yui later. I shifted my attention to the road.
"Where are we headed?" I whispered to Neo. "Koxu." He responded.
A Few Hours of Driving Later...
I sat in the car, my body slightly resting on Li. I got more room because a few adults came out the car to look out, take a breather, and "get out of that disgusting, cramped vehicle."
I looked out the window, the stars were very mesmerizing. In the city, you could barely see the stars, but out on the road, they looked absolutely stunning.
"Move, your in the way." I heard Neo say. I looked to my right and saw him trying to open the door. He was talking to Noah, who was leaning on it, "I need to get out."
"My bad." Noah smiles and got up. Neo opened the door and I decided to follow. "What are you two doing up so late? Get some rest, let the adults handle the look out." Noah told us. "Adult? You really do treat me like a little kid." Neo responded, "I'm just letting the dumb dog do his business, no one said anything about helping with your 'lookout'"
"Ah, right. We didn't get a proper chance to stop until now. You seem to like him, I didn't know you were a dog person." Noah said. I didn't either. I began petting the dog, it licked my finger.
"Do I really seem so to you?" Neo asked. "You aren't?" Noah knitted his brows together. "Who knows." Neo replied.
"Anyways, I don't think he has a name yet. Do you want to name him?" Noah asked. "Hmp..." Neo put his hand to his chin, "Deadmeat." He answered.
"Ah, Deadmeat, that's a nice name- not! What kind of pet name is that??" Noah answered. "Then steamed bun? Steak? Pork chop? Noodle?" Neo kept saying food names. "Stop making me hungry, Neo." I chimed in, "Not my fault you starve yourself." Neo responded, smugly. "Is food all you can think about when you look at him?" Noah asked.
"Then you name him if you care that much." Neo said. Noah thought for a moment, "Then how about Hail? I used to have a white dog called Hail-"
"Tacky. What are you, a five-year-old?" Neo responded. Says the one who tried naming their dog, Deadmeat and Steamed Bun! And c'mon Neo, you find everything tacky.
"But I suppose it's better than Deadmeat." Neo added. "Then Hail it is?" Noah asked. "Whatever." Neo replied.
45 seconds later..
"Marshmallow, come back." Neo called out to the dog. ...Marshmallow? Didn't you agree on Hail just a moment ago?
"Good boy, snowcone." Neo petted the dog. ...Excuse me, do you need an appointment to a memory doctor? Oh right, we can't.
That's when I noticed Noah looking at Neo with a dead expression. Ah, I see. Neo's trying to be a little shit. Meh... "Over here, Frosty!" I motioned for the dog. Neo looked at you for a second before a small (very small) curve formed at the edge of his lips. The dog hopped out of Neo's arms and to you.
"Aww~ You love me more, don't you, Snowflake?" I rubbed the dogs belly. Neo squatted down to the dog and held onto him, "Up you go, Mr. Floofy McFlufferton the Third."
I couldn't help but giggle at him. "Neo, can you not?! We had an agreement! You too, (y/n)! I swear, you guys are screwing with me on purpose, aren't you..." Noah sighed the last part.
-The Next Day-
"Mom, I'm hungry." Iva complained to Lena. "I'm sorry, dear. We haven't eaten anything since yesterday, huh?" Lena responded. "Are you hungry too, Abel?" Parish asked. Abel nodded. "Yui, How about you?" I whispered to my sister. "I'm hungry too, big sis.." she replied, sheepishly.
"Sir, we've been driving non-stop for a whole day. We don't have any proper food on us, and it's still a long way until we make it to Koxu." Li stated to Noah. He thought for a moment and then said, "Li, there should be a few bags of chips left in the backpack. Hand them over to the kids. Although, you're right. Chips aren't filling enough, we'll need proper food." Noah said.
"That backpack again...How are you so prepared anyways?" Ian mumbled. "✨None✨ of ✨your ✨business!✨" Noah hummed, smiling. "Tch. Asshole." Ian muttered.
Li rummaged through the bags and handed them to us. Lena gave a bag of chips to me, "It's okay, I'm fine." I answered. I took the chips and gave them to Neo since everyone else already got one. "I'm good." He responded.
"Oh, okay.. If any of you want another bag, there's one here." I handed the chips back to Li and she placed them in the bag.
"Asford is a decent sized city, they should have some malls or convenience stores that we can drop by to check, Sir." Li informed Noah. "Not a bad option. All I've been seeing is dead corpses littering the sidewalk, no sign of those monsters wandering around. This city could as well be our best bet." Noah replied.
"Wait.. 'dropping by to check'? As in, getting out of the car? That's suicidal!" Parish complained. God, she's annoying.
"Then feel free to stay back in the car by yourself." Noah presses on the brakes. "Wait! Hold on! Are you really going to-"
"Noah's right. We're running out of food and water, us adults can take it, but the kids can't go off like this anymore." Lena cut her off. "But..." "Just listen to Papa, mom. You question him too much." Abel said, as he got out the car.
Parish sat in the empty car in silence, she shuddered. "W-Wait for me!" She cried.
>>
"T-This is disgusting. What's even going on? A plague? War?" Parish covered her mouth. "Keep the kids close and try to stay calm." Noah said.
I looked around a saw the dead corpses. Interesting... Their heads are blown off.. I wonder what or who could've done this..
"Sir. There is a group of people approaching us. They look normal." Li said. "How can you tell if they're normal, anyways!?" Ian spoke up. Do you seriously have to be an asshole every time someone says something?
The group got closer, they all looked pretty tense. "I don't know about you, Ian, but they look pretty normal to me." Noah said.
