Chapter 4

Clavin's Point of View

After what happened, we went back and calm things out. I am now here in our room with David. David was still in shock. We can't even talk to him . He did not asked what happened. I don't really understand what happened back there. I just saw them taking pictures then when Anika stepped near the end of the cliff to take some pictures, In an blink of an eye, she disappeared. I heard them screaming and reaching their hands down the cliff. I don't know why she fell.

I stood up and went where Clara is. I saw her in the lounge, staring blankly at the board game. "What happened? How did Anika fell?" I asked her.

"Even if I am close to her that time, I don't really understand what just happened. After David went to cook, she suggested that we go outside to walk and take some pictures. While walking, She's talking about weird stuffs like how much she hated herself, how useless she is and stuff and when it's her turn to take a picture near the end of the cliff, she mumbled something." Clara said, keeping her eyes locked on the board game.

"What did she say?" I asked.

"'Memoir, memoir, memoir.'" She said. "'I felt very happy when I saw Maya's devastated face when she saw David and I making out. I felt very happy because I always envy her, she had everything, she took everything from me."

Then she looked at me. "That's the last words she said. Anika said that with a creepy expression on her face, she looked possessed and it really gave me creep." She added.

I don't know how and what to react. I don't believe this kind of things but an accident just happened.

"So, you're saying that it's true? That game is real?" I asked.

"I really don't believe at first but...things happened." Clara said.

David came and sit on the floor, facing the fireplace.

"Let's bury her." He said.

"It's too dark and dangerous, let's do that tomorrow." I said.

He turned his face and looked into my eyes. You can feel the pain in his eyes. He's also trying his best to hold his tears from falling.

"We must bury her tonight, Please..." David said.

This is the first time I saw him looked very disconsolate. He would always wear his smile whatever the situation is.

"Okay, we'll bury her tonight."

We finished burying Anika. David looks calm now but he's still not talking about what happened. He's not even asking what really happened.

"Let's go back.-" David cut what I'm about to say.

"Do you remember when we're still in high school?" David said. "I cheated on Maya because Anika seduced me. She caught us making out but she did not said anything. She just smiled weakly at us then walk out. That reaction of her made me think that she didn't love me like how much I love her and it hurts me. So, I continued what we've been doing. I know I am wrong but I am thankful that, that thing happened." He said while still sitting on Anika's grave.

"You know that Maya has a weak heart yet you still do that to her. She was hospitalized after that, her heart can't take the emotional pain. Now, you're saying that you are thankful for that thing happened? How silly can you be?" Clara said angrily.

"You don't know anything, you are not in my position to speak. But even if we did something awful to her, Anika did not deserve to die." David said.

"Maybe, she did deserve it." Clara said.

David froze for a moment then looked at Clara full of anger. David stoop up and ran towards Clara furiously. He grabbed the shovel and tried to hit Clara.

Clara did not move an inch nor even flinch or avoided the shovel.

"I knew you can't do that. You're a coward!" Clara said.

I immediately snatch the shovel from Davids hands and threw it away from him.

"You witch! –" David stopped when we saw Kim suddenly fell on the ground. She's holding her neck as if she's choked by something and was coughing so hard that her face turned bright red.

"Hey!! Kim! What's wrong!!" Clara said worriedly.

"I'll go get some water." I said and ran as fast as I could.

When I reached the rest house, I saw a bottles of water at the lounge table. I went there but something caught my attention. I saw the board game on the corner of my eyes and I unconsciously stared at it for a second.

Wait... Something's off.

Anika was the first and last player but the hand of the spinner was not the question Anika got. The hand was faced in a different question but the red light was still glowing in every corner of the board.

No... This can't be happening...

I ran immediately to where they are.

Did Kim played that damn game? Impossible! She's with us the whole time!

When I reached their place, I saw Clara sitting on the ground. Staring at Kim's body laying on the ground. Kim's eyes is widely open and she's still holding unto her neck. David is still trying to revive her. He is pumping her chest harshly.

"No, Kim!" David said, still trying to save Kim.

I checked Kim's pulse for a second and tap Davids back. "She's gone." I said.

"Why? Why is this happening?" David said hopelessly.

"It is true, the board game is cursed." I said.
