Chapter 3

David's Point of View

"So it is like a lie detector game that has something to do to your past? How boring." Anika said. "We can just like whenever we like."

"She has a point." I said.

"Yeah, this is boring, but guess what? The last owner of this board game told me that this game is cursed. Once you lie, something really bad will happen within an hour. And once you play, you can't just back out and ditch the game." Clara said with excitement. "That cursed thing made this game exciting."

"Okay, Let's give it a try" Calvin said. "Who will play first?" He asked.

"I will spin and whoever get pointed by the spinner will be the first one to play, our rotation will be clockwise." Clara said. "Let's start."

Clara spin the spinner and the hand stopped, pointing Anika.

"I don't believe in such curse but I'll give it a go." Anika said. She pressed the button then it stopped. "I got 'When did you last felt very happy?' question." She picked up one master card. "I got the 'Why' master card. This is easy, I felt very happy when David and I got together. As for why, it is because I got to date the person I really like."

She looked at me with her eyes shining bright. She expressed her love towards me through smiling while looking at my eyes genuinely. It is a wonderful feeling to be loved by the person you love the most. I love her and I want to be with her forever. I want this fluttering feelings last forever so I came here and prepared for my proposal to her. I am planning on proposing to her by tomorrow evening before we head back home. She pressed the button of truth then it turned red.

"Oops," Clara said. "David, seems like you are shocked?" she added.

Anika laugh then she looked at me. "Don't tell me, you believed in this board game? I rally mean what I've said earlier. So don't worry, this is just a game." She said.

I am speechless for a moment but I looked stupid for believing in this game. I am expecting a green light but I think this game really don't work.

"Yeah, this is just a game." I smiled at her for her to know that I'm fine.

"I'm hungry, let's cook some snacks first before we continue playing." Kim said.

"But we just ate dinner. You'll be fat and ugly. Do you want that?" I asked, teasing her.

"Whatever, just please cook something good for us, Davie~" she said, trying to be cute.

"Stop doing that, you're not even cute! I'll just cook some fries. Watch TV first or do what you want to do." I stoop up and went to the kitchen. I'll make some hot chocolate since it's very cold here then cook some fries.

While washing the potato in the sink, I saw them through the window. They are walking outside.

"So unfair." I said, talking to myself. "Hey! Wait for me!" I shouted.

"Finish that first! We're going to the cliff nearby." Calvin shouted.

I saw their shadows fade through the trees. They are going to the cliff maybe to look for the view. I am now cutting the potatoes to make some fries.

"AHHHH!!! NOOOO!!"

I am shocked by the loud scream and accidentally slipped the knife that made a cut on my finger.

"Ouch!" The knife fell then I felt chills.

I immediately turned off the stove and ran towards where they went. I saw them near the end of the cliff.

"What happened?" I asked them but I am too far, they can't hear me.

I saw Calvin's back and he was standing at the end, trembling. When I got near him, I forced him to turn to look at me.

"What happe-"

Even his body was facing towards me, his head is still looking down that cliff. His eyes were filled with tears and his trembling hands slowly pointed down the cliff. I slowly look down on the cliff. There I saw someone lying there. As my eyes get used to the dark, my vision got clear. The body was unrecognizable because of the spiky stones that pierced it's limbs.

But I clearly remembered that clothes. I immediately turned my back to face them and my eyes looked for Anika.

"Hey, where's Anika? Who's that person? We should call for help!" I said desperately.

No one answered me. Clara's face still looked shocked and Kim was still crying. Calvin looked at me and he was about to say something when his mouth opened.

I don't want to hear it...

"Hey bro, call Anika now. I am done cooking, we should eat that now. It wouldn't taste good if it gets cold. I'll go look for her."

"David, she's-"

No... No...

"Hey bro, Do you have the ring I asked you to hide? Can I have it? I'll propose to her tonight once I-"

Kim did interrupt me. "David! She's dead!" Kim said, shouting at me,

Please wake me up in this miserable dream...
